Book excerpt: Do you feel happier on a sunny day? Are you afraid of thunderstorms? Are you dreaming of a White Christmas? The Psychology of Weather explores our relationship with the weather, and how it can affect our mood, behaviour, and lifestyle. The book sheds light on our preoccupation with this natural phenomenon, providing insights into how the weather on the day we were born can directly affect our intelligence and personality, and explore such surprising findings that suicide rates peak in the spring and summer. When the weather affects everything from our buying behaviour, to the jobs we do, The Psychology of Weather shows us that understanding and appreciating the weather can improve our well-being and contribute to human survival.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many parents, today and in years past, do not possess the tools to teach their children how to live a satisfying life. Because such parents have little knowledge of how to provide a good example, family dysfunction often runs through succeeding generations like a snowball rolling down a hill, gathering speed and power as it goes. Growing up and learning to be responsible for yourself is often like standing at the bottom of that hill and stopping that huge snowball. The legacy of dysfunction ends with you. In over 35 years of counseling people in recovery, licensed psychotherapist Tina B. Tessina Ph.D has worked with many clients struggling with similar problems: anxiety, depression, feeling out of control, relationship disasters, and a pervasive feeling that they don't know what "normal" is. No matter how old they are, they don't feel really grown up. They never learned the confidence, self-motivation, and emotional management tools they need to live healthy, happy lives, because their families didn't provide good role models, structure, and information. The exercises and guidelines in this book will help you finally understand what a functional family is, how its members are still affected by early experience, and how to develop the skills necessary for successful living and loving.

This book was released on 2013-06-01 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One renowned and frequently researched anomaly over the last two decades is the weather effect, more precisely, the impact of weather on stock market returns. The extensive literature on the weather effect fails to converge towards a unique, systematic and robust relationship between the weather, and the stock market. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to explain the contradictory results in the literature by testing whether stock prices are affected by the weather in a significantly different manner depending on the level of market development, and explaining how this difference behaves over time. In order to test for this, city-by-city, pooled and binary regressions are employed using data of 10 developed, and 10 emerging countries over the period 1996-2011 by using two different means of seasonal adjustment.

Book excerpt: Your body does nothing randomly. It is always talking to you. It is always telling you what you need to do to get well and stay healthy. Take a good look at yourself. Your health history and your healing prescriptions are written all over your body ... Listening to and obeying your body’s cues can help you become much more self reliant regarding your health. What are some of these cues? desiring specific foods breathing patterns skin blemishes itches certain behaviors What does a craving for sweet or sour really mean in your body? How should you best respond? What does the appearance and location of a mole mean? How does the location of your pain direct you to proper therapeutic choices? The Twelve Elixirs are your guide. They are your birthright. Mastering any one of them will direct you to better health. Such self-reliance requires basic knowledge and calls for the common sense health guidance once acquired at the knees of our mothers and fathers. Patient X grew back a chipped tooth. Patient Y regained her sight. Patient Z eliminated her chronic pain. They did so in part by partaking of The Twelve Elixirs. Mastering the art of living healthfully is neither complicated nor difficult; it only requires awakening the knowledge you already possess, and nobody knows your body like you do.
