Book excerpt: The Purpose of this book is to help the youths to attain inner balance and serenity in their day to day activities because we live in an age where everything appears to be fast paced. This generation seems to be losing the inner harmony that produces great achievers. Young achievers seek to stir in youths this all- important way of Living. Above all, the book's purpose is to help youths discover themselves and connect with the 'higher self' for greater achievement in Life. This is a book that seeks to show young people the greatest discovery in the history of man. The book examines man's travel to the moon, the discovery of oil, the making of airplanes along with many more great achievements, BUT the greatest discovery in the history of man is self-discovery. When you discover yourself, you know who you are and you can achieve anything in Life. As a young person, when you know who you are, is going to help you know exactly what to do in Life; you will maintain focus and also help you to live a decent and balanced life. 'Young Achievers' discloses that all the great achievers in life realized the treasure within before they went ahead to achieve great things. It goes on to explain that inside every man lies the slumbering power and potential to be whatever they want to be and to achieve whatever they want to achieve in life. Self discovery is the DNA of self-enlightenment. When an error is planted in the mind of the youth he or she will doubtlessly do things without even knowing why he or she is doing them. So in chapter two we seek to tell the youths to be watchful of the information or thoughts in their mind because these thoughts will go a long way to give them challenges and cause them to do things that they do not really want to do. We compare the mind to a fertile garden: if the youth takes care of this garden by way of nurturing it and cultivating, it will blossom and give him or her results beyond his or her imagination. We also talked about the power of the mind by illustrating that as the secret of the minds that have been able to achieve great things in the world. The mind gives to anyone what he ask for; by - that we mean the mind can be conditioned by a technique we call 'programming'. We can programme the mind to be seasoned for greater works: to unplug or uncover the potentialities that lie there.

This book was released on 2014-09-10 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The full purpose of this work is to expose the young minds to different scenarios, open their minds to critical thinking practices, and allow the children to preemptively envision a scenario in order for them to better deal with real-life problem situations. Additionally, the critical thinking process allows for youth to better acclimate to the adult world in which they're not readily exposed. This allows for greater preparedness to make decisions in a volatile environment, which best simulates the real world. the power of critical thinking is the essence. We need to empower all people to exercise their mind to apply critical thinking behind their decision-making processes. Given the power of choice, one feels liberation of the mind to take charge of oneself.

Book Synopsis Place-and Community-Based Education in Schools by : Gregory A. Smith
Download or read book Place-and Community-Based Education in Schools written by Gregory A. Smith and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-04-08 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Place- and community-based education – an approach to teaching and learning that starts with the local – addresses two critical gaps in the experience of many children now growing up in the United States: contact with the natural world and contact with community. It offers a way to extend young people’s attention beyond the classroom to the world as it actually is, and to engage them in the process of devising solutions to the social and environmental problems they will confront as adults. This approach can increase students’ engagement with learning and enhance their academic achievement. Envisioned as a primer and guide for educators and members of the public interested in incorporating the local into schools in their own communities, this book explains the purpose and nature of place- and community-based education and provides multiple examples of its practice. The detailed descriptions of learning experiences set both within and beyond the classroom will help readers begin the process of advocating for or incorporating local content and experiences into their schools.

Book excerpt: We have all been brought up listening to stories from our grandparents, parents, and many others. Stories have an innate capacity to mould us, to shape our thinking, to inspire us, to motivate us, to coach us and impress our subconscious mind metaphorically. Storytelling is, and has always been, an important part of the solution for simulating positive behavioural changes. And when the stories are real-life stories, the benefits get amplified manifold. The emotional strings attached to real human stories bring credibility, engagement, and buy-in. The second book in the AKHYAYIKAS series (Akhyayika means a fable, a short episodic narrative, or an anecdote) is a compendium of 100 short stories of people who dared to dream. Given the rough twist of fate, they decided to pick themselves up and make successes of themselves in their chosen life purpose. All the characters in the stories have one thing in common: they believed in the power of their dreams. The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose!

Book Synopsis The Secret of TSL by : William G. Ouchi
Download or read book The Secret of TSL written by William G. Ouchi and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2009-09-01 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of the acclaimed and influential Making Schools Work comes Untitled on Education, a guide to the revolutionary reforms that are changing public education in some of the nation’s biggest cities. • Builds on the author’s growing reputation. Making Schools Work influenced New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein’s effort to radically decentralize the nation’s largest school system. Seven of the ten largest school districts in the u.S. have now implemented the decentralization championed in that book. • Based on a groundbreaking study by the author. Ouchi studied 442 schools in Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York City, Oakland, St. Paul, San Francisco, and Seattle that have embraced school decentralization. He shows how decentralization has improved school performance as measured by standardized tests. • Explains the key to school success. Principals must be given control of their budgets and other authority. When they are empowered, they allocate funds to increase the number of teachers and lower the Total Student Load (TSL) per teacher. TSL is the key factor in school performance. Principals with autonomy invariably lower their school’s TSL.
Book Synopsis Microsociological Perspectives for Environmental Sociology by : Bradley H. Brewster
Download or read book Microsociological Perspectives for Environmental Sociology written by Bradley H. Brewster and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-11-10 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Environmental sociology tends to be dominated by macrosociological theories, to the point that microsociological perspectives have been neglected and ignored. This collection of original work is the first book dedicated to demonstrating the utility of microsociological perspectives for investigating environmental issues. From symbolic interactionism to actor–network theory, from dramaturgy to conversation analysis, from practice theory to animism, a variety of microsociological perspectives are not only drawn upon but creatively applied and developed, making this collection not only a contribution to environmental sociology, but to microsociological theory as well. The authors address such topics as the treatment of waste, human–animal relations, science and industry partnerships, environmental social movements, identities, and lifestyles, eco-tourism, the framing of land, water, and natural resources, and even human conceptions of outer space. Bringing together diverse scholars, perspectives, and topics, Microsociological Perspectives for Environmental Sociology opens the field up to new approaches and initiates much needed dialogue between environmental sociologists and microsociologists. It will appeal not only to sociologists, but to environmental scholars across the social sciences interested in enriching their theoretical repertoire in studying the social aspects of the environment.
