This book was released on 2023-06-05 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a deep yearning inside all of us to bring to light what makes us who we are! In this book, you will encounter literature replete with neurodivergent poetry—akin to 18th century English poet Christopher Smart notable for his visionary power and lyrical virtuosity. You will also discovery a collection of well researched writings, both new and previously published, that explore, debate, celebrate and reaffirm the human spirit and its often pathological and pernicious capacity for antiphonal ruminations and self-inflicted pain, a prismatic portrait of triumph over trauma. It is an articulation of metacognition or self-awareness, an attempt to explore the complexities of man’s inner struggle against the backdrop of Global disharmony mediated by our shared humanity. Ultimately a valiant effort in proffering a favorable outlook for an innovative, adaptive and idyllic prototype: unrestrained love, compassion, understanding and acceptance of our truest selves. From the Prologue of You Are Enough: The Journey to Accepting Your Authentic Self: Why should you read this book when there are many other books with similar titles and subject matter in the saturated literary market place? Well first, I offer multidimensional, multicultural and multilingual perspectives. I put forth a Francophone, Haitian and American frame of mind, being that I am a trilingual speaker of French, Haitian Creole and American English. These cultural influences fused together to bring intriguing elements of reasoned judgments and multiple ways of understanding and expressing ideology. Second, the literature... is not your typical dusty purely academic dissertation on soul searching and self-reckoning. It is a manifestation of soul authenticity in action... a purposeful yet at times playful amalgamation of... poetry, stories, essays, book and theater reviews, and interviews with community leaders and literary figures from MIT and Harvard University...with a connecting theme of personal authenticity: that is being true to one’s self in all aspects of one’s life. It encompasses spirituality, identify, artistic expression, community, resiliency, advocacy, activism and ultimately acceptance of life as is rather than as you wish it to be. Because “The resistance to the unpleasant situation is the root of suffering...” as...said by spiritual guru Ram Dass...

I was stuck in it for years and as a Coach and Speaker, I have noticed there is a constant theme for us all. We have read all of the success books, we have gone to the seminars but when we go to execute their wonderful information a feeling comes up. We lay in bed and just don't "feel" like doing what they suggest even though we know it will make our life better. That "feeling" stops us from executing one or more steps they suggest we take to make our lives better. I couldn't overcome that feeling either. Here I was an alcoholic, a sex addict, sugar addict, spending addict, tobacco addict, love addict, I had gone bankrupt, been through two horrific divorces, a child custody battle, I played two professional sports I never wanted to play and I contemplated suicide. None of the books showed me or explained where that feeling comes from, why we all get it and how to overcome it. Without that information, I couldn't execute all of their wonderful suggestions. So this is my story and how I took all of that great information from all of those great success teachers, I collated it and then added to it. I discuss where that feeling comes from, why we all get it and how to overcome it. This book bridges the gap. When you have this information, this skillset to overcome that "feeling" than you can put into place all of their incredible advice and have the personal and professional success we are all searching for.

Book excerpt: An intimate look at the full spectrum of shame—often masked by addiction, promiscuity, perfectionism, self-loathing, or narcissism—that offers a new, positive route forward Encounters with embarrassment, guilt, self-consciousness, remorse, etc. are an unavoidable part of everyday life, and they sometimes have lessons to teach us—about our goals and values, about the person we expect ourselves to be. In contrast to the prevailing cultural view of shame as a uniformly toxic influence, Shame is a book that approaches the subject of shame as an entire family of emotions which share a “painful awareness of self.” Challenging widely-accepted views within the self-esteem movement, author Joseph Burgo argues that self-esteem does NOT thrive in the soil of non-stop praise and encouragement, but rather depends upon setting and meeting goals, living up to the expectations we hold for ourselves, and finally sharing our joy in achievement with the people who matter most to us. Along the way, listening to and learning from our encounters with shame will go further than affirmations and positive self-talk in helping us to build authentic self-esteem. Richly illustrated with clinical stories from Burgo's 35 years in private practice, Shame also describes the myriad ways that unacknowledged shame often hides behind a broad spectrum of mental disorders including social anxiety, narcissism, addiction, and masochism.

Book excerpt: Home is much more than a physical place or a place we come from; home is a place we aspire to when we first begin to yearn for something more in our lives. This is the home of our heart's desire. In the context of this book, home means leaving behind the safe and familiar to find what is right for each of us. Getting to Oz is a journey of self-discovery that no one can make for us. To get to this new home requires that we leave the nest, a place of safety and security. The promise of this journey is what lies over the rainbow. What we find there is our true home, where we get to claim a life of fulfillment and meaning-the life that we were born to live. Getting to Oz is a culmination of Dr. Deborah Khoshaba's life and her 25-year career helping people to have the courage to face the stresses of living and to forge a deeply meaningful life, no matter what the world throws at them. Inspiring people with her warmth, wisdom, and encouraging ways, Getting to Oz is not just wisdom expressed by an arm-chair philosopher; Deborah lives out what she maintains in this book and has forged a meaningful, rich life despite early hardships. She knows first-hand how to show people the way to Oz, having counseled so many over the years and bringing her own learning to that process. Deborah walks the truth of the wisdom that there is nothing more fulfilling and meaningful than the personal journey we are privileged to have in this life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No one walks into a marriage thinking that it will end. Spouses talk about their futures together, growing old together, where they may want to retire, places they want to visit someday, their hopes and dreams and goals for themselves and for each other. When the marriage ends, there is generally a feeling of failure that goes along with it. A marriage is supposed to be a partnership, and we all know that we have to work at it to keep it together. If it ends, does that mean we didnt work hard enough? Didnt try hard enough? Didnt do enough to keep our spouse happy? What went wrong? Why couldnt I make it work? Why couldnt I fix the problems? These feelings are so common, especially among all of the overachievers out there who believe they can accomplish anything and fix anything if they just try hard enough. Recognize that life is not fair and accept that reality. However, also recognize that sometimes it is not fair in your favor. Imbalance sometimes tips toward you and sometimes away from you. Dont dwell on the times when it feels like the world is against you; instead celebrate the times when everything seems to be going your way. Take responsibility for your own happiness. If anyone intrudes on your happiness, recognize that it is your own fault for allowing it to happen. No one can make you feel any particular wayyou control your own feelings and reactions. You choose how you will handle any particular situation. You can wallow in self-pity and wither away, or you can learn from a negative experience, grow from it, and become a better, stronger, and happier person. Accept responsibility for your own future; it is all on you now, and if you dont take responsibility for it, no one else will.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever Wonder Why The Same Patterns Happen To You Over And Over Again? We all have imprints, both negative and positive. An imprint is a belief that shapes our thoughts and actions, a belief we often hold unconsciously. Liliane Desjardins, a certified clinical addiction specialist, co-founder of Pavillon Gilles Desjardins, and co-creator of the Desjardins Unified Model of Treatment of Addictions, sets forth in "The Imprint Journey" an exploration of imprints, how they govern our lives, and how we can reprogram our minds to function in new and fulfilling ways. "The Imprint Journey" is equivalent to reading two powerful books in one. Liliane spends the first section telling her own story--a childhood in war-torn Croatia, the death of her mother, being an immigrant first to France and later French Canada--and the addictions and dysfunctions that marred her life until a suicide attempt resulted in a near-death experience. Her own personal recovery led her on a mission to help others find their own freedom from self-imposed and self-limiting imprints. The second half of this powerful book provides an anatomy of our imprints, revealing how to transform them so we are free to be our authentic selves. Liliane includes eight powerful personal stories of people who have overcome their imprints--including religious, sexual, and cultural limitations--as well as an overview of how understanding and rewriting our imprints can shape the human race's future as we all experience individual "Oneness." Readers will find themselves turning to The "Imprint Journey" again and again as a guide to relieve fears and to discover powerful truths about themselves that will transform them into their authentic selves. Acclaim For Desjardins' "The Imprint Journey" "Liliane writes from the depth of her own experience, with passion and power and a keen understanding of the human psyche. Her insights lift the reader above their own past patterns, providing insight both comforting and striking. The book inspires hope that no matter what we've been through, fundamental change is possible." --Marianne Williamson, author, A Return To Love "The Imprint Journey will touch your very soul and make way for profound transformation. From personal story to practical steps, Liliane walks with her readers on the path of awakening. Your life will be changed." --Carolyn Craft, Psychotherapist, Unity Minister, host of "Waking Up With Carolyn Craft" on Sirius Satellite Radio Learn more at www.LilianeDesjardins.com From Life Scripts Press www.RewritingLifeScripts.com
