Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Use this spiritual guide to equip yourself with the tools needed to tear down anxiety and build inner peace. Spiritual people often find that their own expectations of living a life dedicated to a higher power makes them more susceptible to high-functioning anxiety. Sometimes, traditional relaxation techniques either do not work, don’t last, or, in some cases, actually increase their anxiety. Psychotherapist, yoga teacher, and interfaith minister Rev. Connie L. Habash has helped hundreds of spiritual people overcome fear and anxiety, regain happiness, and feel calmer. In over twenty-five years as a counselor helping spiritual people overcome anxiety, Rev. Connie has taught that it takes more than chanting mantras, stretching, or relaxation techniques to calm anxiety. It requires a transformation in perception, moment-to-moment body awareness, and a conscious response to thoughts and emotions. Awakening from Anxiety provides valuable psycho-spiritual tools to deepen spiritual awakening and calm fears:Learn what anxiety is and when it becomes a problemUnderstand the six mistakes spiritual people make that increase anxietyDiscover the seven keys to a more calm, confident, courageous lifeKnow how to break through the old patterns of stress, worry, and fear into a new perception of your true selfExplore spiritual principles and yoga philosophy to cultivate inner peace If you enjoyed Stop Anxiety from Stopping You and First, We Make the Beast Beautiful, Awakening from Anxiety will take your healing and renewal from anxiety to the next level. “A book I will recommend to many for both practical advice and spiritual insights for handling stress, worry, and anxiety.”?Becca Anderson, author of Prayers for Calm

Book excerpt: In the course of the eighteenth century, understanding human cognitive life came to be construed as something to be explored in terms of the physiology of the sensory organs, the nerves, and the brain: a form of naturalization that effectively moved cognition out of the realm of philosophy as it had traditionally been understood. Bonnet's Analytical Essay on the Faculties of the Soul was at the forefront of these developments, and this is its first English translation. Drawing on his earlier work in natural history--he was the leading entomologist of his era--he approaches problems of the nature of the mind via the physiology and anatomy of the brain and sensory systems. His approach is one of 'reverse engineering', starting from an organic statue without faculties, and investigating how it would need to be modified to produce a human being. Bonnet takes up a position that cuts across the standard understanding of the period as a clash between materialism and dualism. While his approach was rigorously naturalistic and physiological, this did not lead him to reject the notion of a soul. Instead, he argues that, in order to make sense of their sensory abilities, we need to attribute a soul to animals as well as human beings. At the same time, he argues that if personal immortality is to be possible, it can be conceived along the lines of insect metamorphosis, which shows how different biological forms can harbour a single identity.

Book excerpt: "If the messages in this book were read and acted upon by every pastor and church member, we would have the revival for which Dr. Tozer fervently prayed, and for which many of us are praying today." — Warren Wiersbe "The church should be a healthy, fruitful vineyard that will bring honor to Christ," says A. W. Tozer. But to do so, we as individuals must stop accepting the status quo and get out of our spiritual ruts. In Rut, Rot, or Revival, Tozer describes the signs of being in a spiritual rut, the reasons we get into them, how to get out, and, most importantly, why we need to get out now.

Book excerpt: The complete dramatic toolbox for the opera singer – a step-by-step guide detailing how to create character, from auditions through to rehearsal and performance and formulate a successful career. Drawing upon the innovative approach to the training of young opera singers developed by Martin Constantine, Co-Director of ENO Opera Works, The Opera Singer's Acting Toolkit leads the singer through the process of bringing the libretto and score to life in order to create character. It draws on the work of practitioners such as Stanislavski, Lecoq, Laban and Cicely Berry to introduce the singer to the tools needed to create an interior and physical life for character. The book draws on operatic repertoire from Handel through Mozart to Britten to present practical techniques and exercises to help the singer develop their own individual dramatic toolbox. The Opera Singer's Acting Toolkit features interviews with leading conductors, directors, singers and casting agents to offer invaluable insights into the professional operatic world, and advice on how to remain focused on the importance of the work itself.

You can be healed and happy by possessing the abundant life God desires for you—today! Possessing Your Healing—Taking Authority over Sickness in Your Life challenges the religious constructs that prevent people from walking in their healing. “Sacred cows” are examined that may be hindering the flow of the power of God in your life. You will be challenged, encouraged, enlightened—and most of all, you will be blessed when you use the practical keys to unlock God’s promise of healing for born-again believers. Because of the lack of manifestation of healing in people’s lives and the hopelessness that sickness produces, people have judged God as unfaithful; they do not see God as their Healer, their personal Great Physician—yet that is exactly what He is. Possessing Your Healing is not written especially for ministers or people involved in healing ministry—it simply gives every believer the basic principles of the New Covenant and shows how everyone can enter into the reality of healing. This book teaches you how to be healed!

Book excerpt: “Whatever his subject―favorites include porn, punctuation and the poetry of Frank O’Hara―the goal is always to jigger logic and language free of its moorings . . . His great and singular appeal is this fealty to his own desire and imagination . . . Figuring it out, after all, is a life sentence." ––Parul Sehgal, The New York Times “Toward what goal do I aspire, ever, but collision? Always accident, concussion, bodies butting together . . . By collision I also mean metaphor and metonymy: operations of slide and slip and transfuse.” Through a collection of intimate reflections (on art, punctuation, eyeglasses, color, dreams, celebrity, corpses, porn, and translation) and “assignments” that encourage pleasure, attentiveness, and acts of playful making, poet, artist, critic, novelist, and performer Wayne Koestenbaum enacts twenty-six ecstatic collisions between his mind and the world. A subway passenger’s leather bracelet prompts musings on the German word for “stranger”; Montaigne leads to the memory of a fourth-grade friend’s stinky feet. Wayne dreams about a handjob from John Ashbery, swims next to Nicole Kidman, reclaims Robert Rauschenberg’s squeegee, and apotheosizes Marguerite Duras as a destroyer of sentences. He directly proposes assignments to readers: “Buy a one-dollar cactus, and start anthropomorphizing it. Call it Sabrina.” “Describe an ungenerous or unkind act you have committed.” “Find in every orgasm an encyclopedic richness . . . Reimagine doing the laundry as having an orgasm, and reinterpret orgasm as not a tiny experience, temporally limited, occurring in a single human body, but as an experience that somehow touches on all of human history.” Figure It Out is both a guidebook for, and the embodiment of, the practices of pleasure, attentiveness, art, and play from “one of the most original and relentlessly obsessed cultural spies writing today” (John Waters).

Like its predecessors, it begins exactly where the previous installment (Beyond Flesh & Spirit) left off. I hope that you enjoy reading it, half as much as I enjoyed writing it...FMV BOOK ONE: Monsters And Madmen: After learning of Lucifus-Balador’s treachery, and his abandonment of hundreds of Atlantean survivors, Galanor sets sail in his new vessel, the Daedalus, to discover their fate. After several years, and thousands of nautical miles, he arrives at land encased with a thick jungle. He might have passed it by, if not for the discovery of a pyramid built along the lines of ancient Atlantis. Leaving his crew behind, in a protected cove, he and Anubis venture into the jungle. There, they find a culture that, after having been influenced by Azool, in the distant past, had turned to blood sacrifice and cannibalism. Inside the pyramid, he learns disturbing truths about the possible fate of the world, and his critical part in it. Book Two: Reunions And Revelations: With the affair at Sacsamu behind them, Galanor, Anubis and the crew of the Daedalus set sail eastward, back to the world they left, years earlier. A few days out to sea, they encounter a massive, hostile creature who, during a battle with Galanor, damages the Daedalus. In need of repair, they set sail for the duel island kingdom of Calaspara and Azarora, highly praised for its skilled craftsmen. Along the way, they make a grisly discovery that reinforces Galanor’s belief that a mad god, from another universe, has made inroads into our own, in the hopes of devouring all life. Once they reach their destination, they find that a usurper king, a victim of the plague of rage and despair created by the mad god, has turned the island nation into a prison camp. Bloody battles ensue. Many lives are lost, some precious, most not. And a few, very precious lives, are restored. Book Three: Beyond Faith And Reason: Upon leaving Calaspara and Azarora, Galanor is convinced that the world, if not the entire universe, is in peril. On his way to Zeptepi, while battling an old enemy, he encounters the mad god. Without his knowledge, she insinuates her venomous tendrils into his soul. Slowly, they take hold. As he fights their growing, maddening influence he realizes that his destiny is at hand. He sets out to engage her, in the name of The One who governs all life, for the final conflict. Along the way finds a safe harbor for Barlusch, meets one last time with those he loves, remedies festering wrongs, and saves, as well as ends, many lives. And then, at the appointed time and place, he meets the mad god, face to face. And...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pssst...God has something to share with you. Open your eyes a little bigger now. Would you like a better body? How about some optimal health? You may need to open your mind and your heart a little more as well. Take a deep breath. Can you feel it? God is communicating with you right now. He wants to give you knowledge. The Bible is filled with scriptures. Some are stories, some are songs to bring you joy and hope, some are parables meant to convey his religious message, and some are instructions for our lives to be led with moral character. Do you dare to know the true? Knowledge will make a difference in your life, your family's life, and your friends' lives. Then you will know the truth, and the true will set you free (John 8:32). How good will you feel when you can understand the mystery ingredients in vaccines. Vaccines never freely share their ingredients with you; they are mysterious. We are told that they are safe. But are they? And what are they? And where do they come from? And what do they do to our bodies? These ingredients are contaminated with toxic chemicals that our bodies were never meant to be injected with. Some folks say vaccines are necessary. Well, I am here to tell you that God has already made you uniquely perfect. We do not need these man made additives to protect us. Our bodies are created by God. He made us resilient. He made us capable of healing ourselves. He made us in his image. The power is within us, our minds, and bodies. We are temples for the Holy Spirit to dwell in. If you would like to take hold of your very own precious life and stop being a robot that is told what to do in the name of science, well, this book is for you. We are not to be science experiments. Science and faith can go hand in hand. Research proves outcomes. God is the almighty physician. Let his word be our prescription for what ails us. In this book, you will find every vaccine currently being offered and its ingredients listed scientifically and defined in plain English. Not only that, but you will also have a chance to surf the Bible and read scripture in its full content. I have paired biblical reference and scientific research to show that there is evidence in the Bible that warrants a need for religious exemption from immunizations to protect ourselves in a holy manner. Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people (Matthew 4:23).

Book excerpt: "Hallucination" was always a ghost story's elephant in the room. Even before the vogue for psychical research and spiritualism began to influence writers at the end of the 19th century, tales of horror and the supernatural, of ghosts and demons, had been haunted by the possibility of some grand deception by the senses. But, what is certainly true is that, during the 19th century, hallucination took on a new force and significance, not just in ghost stories and horror fiction, but in other forms of writing. Writers began to encourage their readers to assess whether the ghostly had its origins in some supernatural phenomenon from beyond the grave, or from some deception within our own minds. This wide-ranging book explores the many factors which contributed to this rise in the interest in hallucination and visionary experience during the 19th century and beyond. Through a series of close and often unusual readings of numerous writers - including Robert Louis Stevenson, Henry James, and Arthur Machen - this original study explores what happened when hallucination appeared in fiction, and - even more importantly - why it happened at all.
