Book Synopsis Living Perfect Love by : Anthony A. Zaffuto
Download or read book Living Perfect Love written by Anthony A. Zaffuto and published by Humantics MultiMedia Publishers. This book was released on 1996 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deep within the Colombian jungles, on the banks of the Rio Agua Clara, natives still practice ancient healing rituals that can be applied to today's over-stressed and undernourished masses. Women in particular face more stress and attacks on their health than ever before, which is why a new - or rather ancient - way of looking at one's self-esteem is needed. Living Perfect Love is the work of sociologist Zaffuto, and contains the wisdom of the ancients as taught to him by South American medicine woman Ag'nike. Designed to help women overcome stress and improve their general well-being, this book contains chapters on relieving anxiety and sleep disorders, healing sexual abuse, maintaining optimal body weight, conquering addiction, and pain management. The basis for many of the techniques in Living Perfect Love is the power of the mind over body. Using relaxation techniques, visualization or a "mental theater", and guidance suggestions, Zaffuto shows that positive affirmation can make a difference in a woman's life. With the wisdom of ancients, and a modern guide, Living Perfect Love will help women achieve the peace in life that they seek. Book Synopsis Empowerment of North American Indian Girls by : Carol A. Markstrom
Download or read book Empowerment of North American Indian Girls written by Carol A. Markstrom and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Empowerment of North American Indian Girls is an examination of coming-of-age-ceremonies for American Indian girls past and present, featuring an in-depth look at Native ideas about human development and puberty. Many North American Indian cultures regard the transition from childhood to adulthood as a pivotal and potentially vulnerable phase of life and have accordingly devised coming-of-age rituals to affirm traditional values and community support for its members. Such rituals are a positive and enabling social force in many modern Native communities whose younger generations are wrestling with substance abuse, mental health problems, suicide, and school dropout. Developmental psychologist Carol A. Markstrom reviews indigenous, historical, and anthropological literatures and conveys the results of her fieldwork to provide descriptive accounts of North American Indian coming-of-age rituals. She gives special attention to the female puberty rituals in four communities: Apache, Navajo, Lakota, and Ojibwa. Of particular interest is the distinctive Apache Sunrise Dance, which is described and analyzed in detail. Also included are American Indian feminist interpretations of menstruation and menstrual taboos, the feminine in cosmology, and the significance of puberty customs and rites for the development of young women.

Book excerpt: Ritual Making Women looks at the way in which women's making of ritual has emerged from the rapidly developing field of women's spirituality and theology. The author uses ethnographic material to explore how the construction of ritual uses story-making and embodied action to empower women. Ritual, far from being a timeless and universal practice, is shown to be a contextual and gendered performance in which women subvert conventional distinctions of private and public. The book combines narrative and case study material and draws on feminist theology and theory, social anthropology and gender studies.

Today few milestones are celebrated and those that are gloss over and fall short of addressing the emotional issues that mystify and create havoc in our worlds. Indigenous peoples have always celebrated the natural cycles of change and rites of passage promote the mourning that goes with accepting changes in our lives and closure heals the wounds of our inner child. Rites of Empowerment celebrate our growth and maturation as individuals as we travel along our Path of Heart toward enlightenment. Rituals balance our masculine and feminine energies and help us regain the Five Hauquas, health, hope, happiness, harmony, and humor in our lives, which are every human's inalienable rights. The book gives instructions on how to facilitate over 50 life-changing ceremonies. Included are numerous poems and stories to make your ceremonies personal and extra special.
