Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This fundamental work explains in detail systems for active safety and driver assistance, considering both their structure and their function. These include the well-known standard systems such as Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). But it includes also new systems for protecting collisions protection, for changing the lane, or for convenient parking. The book aims at giving a complete picture focusing on the entire system. First, it describes the components which are necessary for assistance systems, such as sensors, actuators, mechatronic subsystems, and control elements. Then, it explains key features for the user-friendly design of human-machine interfaces between driver and assistance system. Finally, important characteristic features of driver assistance systems for particular vehicles are presented: Systems for commercial vehicles and motorcycles.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Software Architecture for Big Data and the Cloud is designed to be a single resource that brings together research on how software architectures can solve the challenges imposed by building big data software systems. The challenges of big data on the software architecture can relate to scale, security, integrity, performance, concurrency, parallelism, and dependability, amongst others. Big data handling requires rethinking architectural solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements related to volume, variety and velocity. The book's editors have varied and complementary backgrounds in requirements and architecture, specifically in software architectures for cloud and big data, as well as expertise in software engineering for cloud and big data. This book brings together work across different disciplines in software engineering, including work expanded from conference tracks and workshops led by the editors. Discusses systematic and disciplined approaches to building software architectures for cloud and big data with state-of-the-art methods and techniques Presents case studies involving enterprise, business, and government service deployment of big data applications Shares guidance on theory, frameworks, methodologies, and architecture for cloud and big data

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The role of asymmetric information in allocation of resources, together with the associated information-revelation process, has long been a central focus of economic research. While the bulk of the literature addresses these is sues within the framework of principal-agent relationship, which essentially reduces the problem to the sole principal's (the sole Stackelberg leader's) optimization problem subject to the agents' (the Stackelberg followers') re sponses, there are recent attempts to extend analysis to other economic setups characterized by different relationships among decision-makers. A notable strand of such attempts is the core analysis of incomplete in formation. Here, there is no Stackelberg-type relationship, and more impor tantly the players can talk to each other for coordinated choice of strategies. See, e.g., Wilson (1978) for a pioneering work; Yannelis (1991) for formula tion of feasibility of a strategy as its measurability; Ichiishi and Idzik (1996) for introduction of Bayesian incentive-compatibility to this strand; Ichiishi, Idzik and Zhao (1994) for information revelation (that is, endogenous deter mination of updated information structures); Ichiishi and Radner (1997) and Ichiishi and Sertel (1998) for studies of a specific model of Chandler's firm in multidivisional form for sharper results; and Vohra (1999) for a recent work. It is a common postulate in these works that every player takes part in design of a mechanism and also in execution of the signed contract.

Book excerpt: When I was starting my Python data analysis journey I was missing books or tutorials which really cover all the topics involved when trying to conduct a sales analysis successfully. Especially when you are a complete newbie conducting an analysis from A-Z without any (or not sufficient) pre-knowledge is difficult, because most books only cover specific parts of the whole project, and it is challenging to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. That is my main motivation for writing this book: you to have one guideline in hand which leads all the way through your whole sales analysis project, from installing all the necessary Python libraries, cleaning the data, effectively training the Machine Learning (ML) models and deploying the results to your colleagues in an intelligible way. The topics covered in this book are: Explorative Data Analysis (EDA)Feature Engineering and Clustering (Unsupervised Machine Learning) Predicting of future sales using statistical modelling, Prophet, and Long-Short-Term Memory (LSTM) using deep learning techniques (Tensorflow/ Keras) Market Basket Analysis using the Apriori Algorithm and Spark Recommend products to our customers using Scikit-Learn, Pandas, Tensorflow, and Turicreate Stac

Book excerpt: As any human activity needs goals, mathematical research needs problems -David Hilbert Mechanics is the paradise of mathematical sciences -Leonardo da Vinci Mechanics and mathematics have been complementary partners since Newton's time and the history of science shows much evidence of the ben eficial influence of these disciplines on each other. Driven by increasingly elaborate modern technological applications the symbiotic relationship between mathematics and mechanics is continually growing. However, the increasingly large number of specialist journals has generated a du ality gap between the two partners, and this gap is growing wider. Advances in Mechanics and Mathematics (AMMA) is intended to bridge the gap by providing multi-disciplinary publications which fall into the two following complementary categories: 1. An annual book dedicated to the latest developments in mechanics and mathematics; 2. Monographs, advanced textbooks, handbooks, edited vol umes and selected conference proceedings. The AMMA annual book publishes invited and contributed compre hensive reviews, research and survey articles within the broad area of modern mechanics and applied mathematics. Mechanics is understood here in the most general sense of the word, and is taken to embrace relevant physical and biological phenomena involving electromagnetic, thermal and quantum effects and biomechanics, as well as general dy namical systems. Especially encouraged are articles on mathematical and computational models and methods based on mechanics and their interactions with other fields. All contributions will be reviewed so as to guarantee the highest possible scientific standards.

Book excerpt: This is a brand new edition of an essential work on Bayesian networks and decision graphs. It is an introduction to probabilistic graphical models including Bayesian networks and influence diagrams. The reader is guided through the two types of frameworks with examples and exercises, which also give instruction on how to build these models. Structured in two parts, the first section focuses on probabilistic graphical models, while the second part deals with decision graphs, and in addition to the frameworks described in the previous edition, it also introduces Markov decision process and partially ordered decision problems.

In addition to considerations of cost, performance, and time-to-market, various system integration issues become challenging, given the inherently heterogeneous nature of embedded systems. Platform Based Design introduces a rigorous design methodology to address the various challenges posed by complex, heterogeneous, embedded systems.
