Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to show that there is another perspective on God's Creation that is a much better fit with both the teachings of the Bible, and the observations of science, than the view held by Young Earth Creationists. If you or someone you know has questions about the Bible and the age of the Earth and Universe, this book will answer many of your questions. The Bible makes it clear in Psalm 90 that God views time differently than we do. A thousand years to us is like yesterday to God, or 3 hours last night when we were asleep. Young Earth Creationists hold that the Earth is only 6000 years old, and that the Earth was created in six 24-hour days. This book presents 27 biblical and scientific reasons why this cannot be true. After God created the heavens and a not yet fully formed Earth empty of life, He took six of His days to make the Earth fully formed and full of life. According to Genesis, the heavens and the early Earth could be any age, before Day One begins. Genesis Two tells us that more happened between when God created Adam and when God brought Eve to Adam, than can fit into one day. A study of light shows it is not possible for light to reach us from distant stars and galaxies if the Universe is only 6000 years old. This challenges the Appearance of Age argument. Noah's Flood, 4500 years ago (as Young Earth Creationists claim), cannot possibly explain all the sedimentary rock, fossils, layers of ice, lake sediment layers, the Grand Canyon, and many other features we find on Earth. Then there are the Bristlecone Pine trees that are older than Creation, and grow on mountains that did not exist until after Noah's Flood. This book examines these claims, and many others, that contradict the Bible as well as other observations made here on Earth. We do well to examine these claims, so that we can be more effective in sharing the Christian Gospel with people around us.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Twenty-somethings once faithfully attended church. What made them stop? While most said they still believe that the Bible is God's Word, they also said that the idea that the earth is millions of years old was one thing that caused them to doubt the bible? The crumbling foundation of the church takes a devastating toll on future generations. Therefore, churches must reclaim the historical truth found in Genesis and apply the Bible's authority to every area of life." -Ken Ham, President Answers in Genesis As the modern Church struggles to find a place of relevancy for a new generation that already has massive demands on its time and attention, more and more young people raised in the Church are leaving it - failing to find the answers to their questions of faith and life, beset with doubts raised by issues that the Church chooses not to address. Opting to skirt the controversy of Genesis as literal history, the biblical authority of the Holy Word is called into question and reduced to a collection of mere stories. More popularly considered an issue for schools or in the public realm, the conflicting views on the age of the earth also remain a pivotal issue within the Church - as it has for over two centuries. Was the Creation week literally six days? Does science really point to an old earth? Does the issue really matter for Christians? Should this issue even be discussed within the Church? Join authors Dr. Jason Lisle and Tim Chaffey as they put forth a case against an old-earth interpretation of Scripture. A comprehensive biblical, theological, and scientific critique of old-earth creationism, the book presents its compelling testimony in layman's terms to create a powerful debate that leads to unquestionable truth.

Join us on a journey through how we understand the Universe, from its most basic particles and forces, to planets, stars and galaxies, and back through cosmic history to the birth of the cosmos. Conflicting notions about our place in the Universe are defined, defended and critiqued from scientific, philosophical and religious viewpoints. The authors' engaging and witty style addresses what fine-tuning might mean for the future of physics and the search for the ultimate laws of nature. Tackling difficult questions and providing thought-provoking answers, this volumes challenges us to consider our place in the cosmos, regardless of our initial convictions.

Alston offers a unique and clear analysis of the weaknesses of scientific creationism and intelligent design by identifying what creationists say when they reject evidence for evolution. He demonstrates how scientific creationists accept non-scientific statements that contradict established scientific knowledge. Acceptance of anti-evolutionary knowledge also demands acceptance of a literal six-day creation and other statements contradicting scientific findings. Few persons have read so closely the writings of scientific creationists to illustrate how anti-scientific anti-evolutionists become when they criticize the fact of evolution. Creationists are forced to develop "just-so" stories to defend their literal interpretations of Biblical scripture. Alston finds creationists cannot defend their religious beliefs using established scientific methodologies and principles.

Book excerpt: The globalist establishment has been telling the world for many decades that the universe and earth are billions of years old, and that everything today came into existence over the course of billions of years via evolution and big bang cosmolgy. Unfortunately, most christians have compromised with the establishment and attempt to integrate evolution and billions of years into the Bible, resulting in old earth creationism. The globalists accuse young earth creationists of being anti-science, and old earth creationists accuse young earth creationists of not interpretting the Bible correctly. In "Another Inconvenient Truth 2: Defending Young Earth Creationism", you will learn the inconvenient truth regarding young earth creationism, and how the Bible literally provides all the data that leads you to the conclusion that the Bible teaches a 6,000 year-old earth and universe. You will also learn the inconvenient truth regarding atheistic evolution, and how atheists & evolutionists project themselves onto young earth creationists in order to condemn them. And finally, you will learn the inconvenient truth regarding old earth creationism, and how it is a heretical compromise on the Biblical worldview regarding origins. This book will give christians and young earth creationsits the apologetics ammunition necessary to defend the Biblical worldview's explanation of origins from all its enemies, whether those enemies come from outside the faith or from within.

Book excerpt: Evolution--or the broader topic of origins--has enormous relevance to how we understand the Christian faith and how we interpret Scripture. Four Views on Creation, Evolution, and Intelligent Design presents the current "state of the conversation" about origins among evangelicals representing four key positions: Young Earth Creationism - Ken Ham (Answers in Genesis) Old Earth (Progressive) Creationism - Hugh Ross (Reasons to Believe) Evolutionary Creation - Deborah B. Haarsma (BioLogos) Intelligent Design - Stephen C. Meyer (The Discovery Institute) The contributors offer their best defense of their position addressing questions such as: What is your position on origins - understood broadly to include the physical universe, life, and human beings in particular? What do you take to be the most persuasive arguments in defense of your position? How do you demarcate and correlate evidence about origins from current science and from divine revelation? What hinges on answering these questions correctly? This book allows each contributor to not only present the case for his or her view, but also to critique and respond to the critiques of the other contributors, allowing you to compare their beliefs in an open forum setting to see where they overlap and where they differ.

His book is essential reading for anyone who wonders about the deepest questions of all: why are we here? How did we get here? And what does life mean?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Religious fundamentalists and biblical literalists present any number of arguments that attempt to disprove evolution. Those with a sympathetic ear often fail to critically examine these creationist claims, leading to an ill-informed public and, perhaps more troubling, ill-advised public policy. As Aron Ra makes clear, however, every single argument deployed by creationists in their attacks on evolution is founded on fundamental scientific, religious, and historical falsehoods–all of them. Among their most popular claims is that evolution is a religion, that there are no transitional species, that there are no beneficial mutations, and that supposedly sacred scripture is the infallible word of God. Yet, as the evidence and data plainly show, each of these claims is demonstrably and unequivocally false. There is simply no truth to creationism whatsoever, and the entire enterprise rests on a foundation of falsehoods. This book explains and exposes the worst of these lies, and should be read by all who honestly care about following the evidence no matter where it might lead in pursuit of the truth.

Book excerpt: Abusing Science is a manual for intellectual self-defense, the most complete available for presenting the case against Creationist pseudo-science. It is also a lucid exposition of the nature and methods of genuine science. The book begins with a concise introduction to evolutionary theory for non-scientists and closes with a rebuttal of the charge that this theory undermines religious and moral values. It will astonish many readers that this case must still be made in the 1980s, but since it must, Philip Kitcher makes it irresistibly and forcefully. Not long ago, a federal court struck down an Arkansas law requiring that "scientific" Creationism be taught in high school science classes. Contemporary Creationists may have lost one legal battle, but their cause continues to thrive. Their efforts are directed not only at state legislatures but at local school boards and textbook publishers. As Kitcher argues in this rigorous but highly readable book, the integrity of science is under attack. The methods of inquiry used in evolutionary biology are those which are used throughout the sciences. Moreover, modern biology is intertwined with other fields of science—physics, chemistry, astronomy, and geology. Creationists hope to persuade the public that education in science should be torn apart to make room for a literal reading of Genesis. Abusing Science refutes the popular complaint that the scientific establishment is dogmatic and intolerant, denying "academic freedom" to the unorthodox. It examines Creationist claims seriously and systematically, one by one, showing clearly just why they are at best misguided, at worst ludicrous.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What did the writer of Genesis mean by “the first day”? Is it a literal week or a series of time periods? If I believe that the earth is 4.5 billion years old, am I denying the authority of Scripture? In response to the continuing controversy over the interpretation of the creation narrative in Genesis, John Lennox proposes a succinct method of reading and interpreting the first chapters of Genesis without discounting either science or Scripture. With examples from history, a brief but thorough exploration of the major interpretations, and a look into the particular significance of the creation of human beings, Lennox suggests that Christians can heed modern scientific knowledge while staying faithful to the biblical narrative. He moves beyond a simple response to the controversy, insisting that Genesis teaches us far more about the God of Jesus Christ and about God’s intention for creation than it does about the age of the earth. With this book, Lennox offers a careful yet accessible introduction to a scientifically-savvy, theologically-astute, and Scripturally faithful interpretation of Genesis.

Critical of current scientific consensuses, though not abrasively so, the authors present biblical, philosophical, and scientific supports for their perspective. Their clear argumentation makes this one of the best presentations of a historic if recently maligned viewpoint, one that will be useful to proponents and opponents alike.

From the symphony of the creation week in Genesis, to the promise of a new heaven and a new earth in Revelation, the Bible speaks of a recent, six-day creation of the universe.A respected scholar, the late Dr. Henry M. Morris spent over six decades studying God's Word, and his commentaries enriched the faith of many. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book critically examines the claims of the Old Earth or Progressive Creationists that their compromise with the Naturalists' theories of Evolution is Biblical and more scientific than Young Earth Creationists' literal interpretation of the Genesis accounts of creation and Noah's flood. It addresses the question as to whether or not it really matters, or is an essential point of doctrine. It examines the exegesis of the "day-age" theorists, such as Hugh Ross. Mostly it distinguishes between actual empirical science and the kind of science used to support the theory of Evolution. And it demonstrates how real empirical science solidly supports the literal biblical account.
