Book Synopsis Pathways for Inter-Religious Dialogue in the Twenty-First Century by : Vladimir Latinovic
Download or read book Pathways for Inter-Religious Dialogue in the Twenty-First Century written by Vladimir Latinovic and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-01-26 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Without question, inter-religious relations are crucial in the contemporary age. While most dialogue works on past and contemporary matters, this volume takes on the relations among the Abrahamic religions and looks forward, toward the possibility of real and lasting dialogue. The book centers upon inter-faith issues. It identifies problems that stand in the way of fostering healthy dialogues both within particular religious traditions and between faiths. The volume's contributors strive for a realization of already existing common ground between religions. They engagingly explore how inter-religious dialogue can be re-energized for a new century.

Book Synopsis The Commercial Church by : Mary Hinton
Download or read book The Commercial Church written by Mary Hinton and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2011-05-19 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this new book on the rise of commercial black 'mega churches,' Mary Hinton examines the rich legacy of the historic black church from the dual perspectives of theology and religious education. She explores the new religious models emerging from the tradition of the historic black church and questions whether they are continuing to operate and practice according to the wisdom of this unique form of American religion. Two mega church ministries, those of T. D. Jakes and Creflo Dollar, are examined in detail with regards to how they align with black church religious history. Hinton concludes by proposing that the fastest growing religious phenomenon within and outside of the black community in the United States-the mega church-should no longer be analyzed based on size alone. Instead, Hinton urges readers to consider the ecclesial structures of churches in making appropriate assessments in determining should and should not be classified as a commercial church.
Download or read book Private Dwelling written by Peter King and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2004-08-02 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Housing is something that is deeply personal to us. It offers us privacy and security and allows us to be intimate with those we are close to. This book considers the nature of privacy but also how we choose to share our dwelling. The book discusses the manner in which we talk about our housing, how it manifests and assuages our anxieties and desires and how it helps us come to terms with loss. Private Dwelling offers a deeply original take on housing. The book proceeds through a series of speculations, using philosophical analysis and critique, personal anecdote, film criticism, social and cultural theory and policy analysis to unpick the subjective nature of housing as a personal place where we can be sure of ourselves.

In this lecture series, Heidegger explores two major themes: the relation between philosophy and science and the relation between philosophy and Weltanschauung (worldview). Through extensive analyses of truth, unconcealment, and transcendence, he delves into topics that would expand into his later work. Book Synopsis Building and Dwelling by : Richard Sennett
Download or read book Building and Dwelling written by Richard Sennett and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2023-08-22 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A reflection on the past and present of city life, and a bold proposal for its future “Constantly stimulating ideas from a veteran of urban thinking.”—Jonathan Meades, The Guardian In this sweeping work, the preeminent sociologist Richard Sennett traces the anguished relation between how cities are built and how people live in them, from ancient Athens to twenty-first-century Shanghai. He shows how Paris, Barcelona, and New York City assumed their modern forms; rethinks the reputations of Jane Jacobs, Lewis Mumford, and others; and takes us on a tour of emblematic contemporary locations, from the backstreets of Medellín, Colombia, to Google headquarters in Manhattan. Through it all, Sennett laments that the “closed city”—segregated, regimented, and controlled—has spread from the Global North to the exploding urban centers of the Global South. He argues instead for a flexible and dynamic “open city,” one that provides a better quality of life, that can adapt to climate change and challenge economic stagnation and racial separation. With arguments that speak directly to our moment—a time when more humans live in urban spaces than ever before—Sennett forms a bold and original vision for the future of cities.
