It is an anthology of stories by 36 authors, each about a relative they have known and loved before that person was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or another type of dementia. First and foremost, these stories are about human beings. They are about moms, dads, attorneys, teachers, sailors, dreamers, doers, and lovers. They are about people like you and me; people with hopes and plans for the future who lived, or are still living, a life worth remembering. I hope what you read in these pages touches your life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is unique. Everyone has a life for themselves. Many times, I met people, visited places, saw situations, or encountered lots of events that have remained in my memory at all times. Reading books from an early age, I discovered that this is the strong and sure way to real freedom! Meeting all kinds of people, seeing with my mind's eyes their lives, and talking with them, I learned enormously. Any human being has a special value when they do something to contribute to the progress of society by science or art or innovations or daily hard work! So, all my life, I have worked very hard, and I educated my family in this way. I was impressed and amazed at what human beings can do! A long time ago in my early age, I wrote a poem for my mom that was published in a local newspaper. I wrote two other books, but I never had the financial power to publish them. Working in many fields of activity, I talked with people that told me very interesting things. I understood very early that human beings deserved respect and consideration for doing something good for society. What is good for society is good for themselves and their family, and this is important. This book is like a flame in my soul. I did all in my power to publish it so that people can read it, of course the people who want it. The book is an expression to help people to stay together. Killing or stealing or hurting others must stop, by all means! Life is a serious job. Everyone has a chance. But you are the one to make a choice. Always build, never demolish. Finally, life puts everyone in the position he or she really deserves! You have the right to criticize the book! And it's so easy to judge.

It was hard for her to understand how the emotional abuse she suffered during her childhood affected her adult life. In this memoir, Alexander takes a step back and relives her childhood in order to break free of the emotional bondage and to forgive, heal, and grow. A Wounded Daughter’s Survival recounts her personal and family history and comes to terms with the dysfunction that permeated her relationship with her parents. Alexander narrates how she lived through many damaging and sometimes violent encounters in her formative years, including overwhelming feelings of rejection by her parents. Using personal anecdotes to illustrate how God has worked in her life, she shares her experiences with her faith and how she found comfort and guidance in the Bible and through prayer. This true and personal account sheds light on how emotional abuse truly damages lives. By sharing her experiences of survival, discovery, and healing, Alexander provides hope that a functional future is indeed possible.

Book excerpt: In the 1950s, just a few years after Newfoundland entered Confederation, the first official provincial resettlement program saw thousands of islanders leave their coastal out-port communities to resettle on the mainland. The plan was that families would have better access to schools, medical care, community infrastructure such as roads and electricity, and employment. For many, this included putting their houses on barges and floating them to their new location. Blue Moon on Water is the story of the fictional Moore family, their salt cod and lobster fishing community of Deer Island, and their ultimate decision to resettle. Told through the eyes of Hannah Marie, an inquisitive teenager, we follow the day-to-day lives of the people in her community and learn of their hopes, dreams, loves, celebrations, fishing, and food. Told with love, humour, and pride, these are the stories of people who have shaped the resilient culture of Newfoundland and the ever-indomitable spirit of its people.

With a possible murderer in their midst, the rest of Nairn won't breathe easy until Paisley applies her sleuthing skills to make sure justice is served and the killer pays the piper . . .

Sarah has proved to be the voice of comfort for years to women who are spiritually bankrupt, and now she will reach to those who are financially strapped, showing them how to pull themselves out of their psychic and fiscal crises while providing deep comfort and reassurance throughout.

Book excerpt: New York Times Bestseller • Read With Jenna Book Club Pick as seen on Today • Winner of the Los Angeles Times Christopher Isherwood Prize for Autobiography • Winner of the American Library Association Alex Award A young poet tells the inspiring story of his migration from El Salvador to the United States at the age of nine in this “gripping memoir” (NPR) of bravery, hope, and finding family. Finalist for the PEN/John Kenneth Galbraith Award for Nonfiction • One of the New York Public Library’s Ten Best Books of the Year Longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence and the PEN/Open Book Award “I read Solito with my heart in my throat and did not burst into tears until the last sentence. What a person, what a writer, what a book.”—Emma Straub “A riveting tale of perseverance and the lengths humans will go to help each other in times of struggle.”—Dave Eggers ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: The New York Times Book Review, NPR, The Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Vulture, She Reads, Kirkus Reviews Trip. My parents started using that word about a year ago—“one day, you’ll take a trip to be with us. Like an adventure.” Javier Zamora’s adventure is a three-thousand-mile journey from his small town in El Salvador, through Guatemala and Mexico, and across the U.S. border. He will leave behind his beloved aunt and grandparents to reunite with a mother who left four years ago and a father he barely remembers. Traveling alone amid a group of strangers and a “coyote” hired to lead them to safety, Javier expects his trip to last two short weeks. At nine years old, all Javier can imagine is rushing into his parents’ arms, snuggling in bed between them, and living under the same roof again. He cannot foresee the perilous boat trips, relentless desert treks, pointed guns, arrests and deceptions that await him; nor can he know that those two weeks will expand into two life-altering months alongside fellow migrants who will come to encircle him like an unexpected family. A memoir as gripping as it is moving, Solito provides an immediate and intimate account not only of a treacherous and near-impossible journey, but also of the miraculous kindness and love delivered at the most unexpected moments. Solito is Javier Zamora’s story, but it’s also the story of millions of others who had no choice but to leave home.
