Download or read book Fenrir written by M.D. Lachlan and published by Pyr. This book was released on 2011-10-18 with total page 653 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Vikings are laying siege to Paris. They want the Count’s sister, in return they will spare the rest of the city. As houses on the banks of the Seine burn, a debate rages in the Cathedral on the walled island of the city proper. Can the Count really have ambitions to be Emperor of the Franks if he doesn’t do everything he can to save his people? Can he call himself a man if he doesn’t do everything he can to save his sister? His conscience demands one thing, the state demands another. The Count and the church are relying on the living saint, the blind and crippled Jehan of St. Germain, to enlist the aid of God and resolve the situation for them. But the Vikings have their own gods, and outside their camp, a terrifying brother and sister, priests of Odin, have their own agenda--an agenda of darkness and madness. And in the shadows a wolfman lurks. M. D. Lachlan’s stunning epic of mad Gods, Vikings, and the myth of Fenrir, the wolf destined to kill Odin at Ragnarok, is a compelling mix of bloody horror, unlikely heroism, dangerous religion, and breathtaking action. From the Trade Paperback edition.

Heartbroken and with no one to turn to, she finds comfort in her new neighbours who welcome her with open arms. Finally trusted and accepted by those you'd least expect, she's able to settle in and find happiness. But happiness has a way of being short-lived when you're running from your past. Her family back home is unravelling at the seams. Her friendship takes a step in the wrong direction, and everything starts to come apart again. Will love be enough to mend her broken heart? Or will that very love threaten to topple all the happiness she's built? #2 NO TURNING BACK A moment of vulnerability. Enduring consequences. Can Arlana ever forgive herself? This book was released on 2009-07-10 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Government's Future of Air Transport strategy aims to significantly increase UK airport capacity over the next two decades to accommodate the predicted growth in demand for air travel. New runways at Heathrow and Stansted airports are two of the key airport development proposals. If all the White Paper-supported airport development proposals came to fruition, current Government forecasts predict that the number of passengers passing through UK airports will increase from 241 million passengers a year in 2007 to 455 million passengers a year in 2030. This UK growth matches air traffic predictions for the whole continent. Eurocontrol, the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation, predicts that European air traffic will double by 2020. If rising demand for air travel is to be met effectively through additional airport capacity, a corresponding increase in airspace capacity must be realised. However, a country's airspace, the portion of atmosphere above its territory and territorial waters, controlled by that country is a finite resource. UK airspace, particularly in the South East of England, is already some of the busiest and most complex to manage in the world. This will almost certainly require improvements in the efficiency of the UK air traffic management system. The Committee's inquiry aims to look at how to meet these challenges. Its findings are aimed at those organisations responsible for airspace-related decisions in the UK: the CAA, NATS, and the Department for Transport. Passenger numbers and freight demand globally have declined in 2008 and in the first months of 2009. In its conclusions and recommendations the Committee covered the management of airspace, strategy, change and co-ordination in airspace management, environmental impacts of airspace changes and European developments.

Tasmin is a young woman facing her own demise, urged into unspeakable action by a kindly neighbour, and from her pain rises the personal stories of an eclectic cast of unlikely characters. "This was beautifully written--not flowery, but gorgeously constructed. The flow of the story was really cleverly done, and I loved that somewhere within the pages of each chapter we would meet the 'star' of the following chapter, until everything came together perfectly. Each character was real, believable, and intriguing; and the intertwining storylines and were equal parts engrossing, unsettling, and heart wrenching." Review by booksborrowbuy The Clothesline is the debut novel of Australian writer Krista Schade, exploring the fractured dynamics of family life, the dear friends who become family, and the search for hope.

Book Synopsis The Making of Henry by : Howard Jacobson
Download or read book The Making of Henry written by Howard Jacobson and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2007-12-18 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Man Booker Prize–Winning Author of THE FINKLER QUESTION Swathed in his kimono, drinking tea from his samovar, Henry Nagle is temperamentally opposed to life in the 21st century. Preferring not to contemplate the great intellectual and worldly success of his best boyhood friend, he argues constantly with his father, an upholsterer turned fire-eater–and now dead for many years. When he goes out at all, Henry goes after other men’s wives. But when he mysteriously inherits a sumptuous apartment, Henry’s life changes, bringing on a slick descendant of Robert Louis Stevenson, an excitable red setter, and a wise-cracking waitress with a taste for danger. All of them demand his attention, even his love, a word which barely exists in Henry’s magisterial vocabulary, never mind his heart. From one of England’s most highly regarded writers, The Making of Henry is a ravishing novel, at once wise, tender and mordantly funny.
