Book Synopsis What A Wonderful Story by : Helge-Wolfgang Michel
Download or read book What A Wonderful Story written by Helge-Wolfgang Michel and published by TWENTYSIX. This book was released on 2021-04-23 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Helge-Wolfgang Michel has written a short biographical novel about Leopold Heinrich Pfeil (1726-1792), "Ist das nicht eine wunderbare Geschichte - Das erfüllte Leben von Leopold Heinrich Pfeil". Richard W.P. Pfeil, a relative from England, has provided an introduction to this first English edition of, "What A Wonderful Story - The Fulfilled Life of Leopold Heinrich Pfeil". Dr Joachim Seng, director of the library at the Goethe House in Frankfurt am Main, has further supplemented this with a foreword about Leopold Heinrich Pfeil's special significance in the education of Johann Wolfgang Goethe and his sister Cornelia. Leopold Heinrich Pfeil, known as, "Henri", followed a remarkable career path at the home of Johann Caspar Goethe (Johann Wolfgang Goethe's father). He initially entered the household as a servant, was then given the position of valet and later that of secretary. Through his marriage Leopold Heinrich Pfeil became a relative of Goethe's and continued to develop himself as a French language master eventually becoming the successful headmaster of a Frankfurt boarding school for English and French students. His efforts were always guided by the maxim that teaching and learning are mutually dependent. Johann Wolfgang Goethe praises Henri very highly in, "Dichtung und Wahrheit - Aus meinem Leben" (From my Life: Poetry and Truth; Part 1, Book 4) and dedicated a vaudeville to Henri. References to him appear in various works. Henri also maintained a pen friendship with Leopold Mozart. In his book, the author sketches a conceivable biography of Henri's life, based on historical data and facts. The story is presented in a discerning manner but is neither overbearing nor moralising. Henri narrates his own life from birth to death in the first person and in the present historic tense. In addition to his friend and patron Johann Caspar Goethe, family members as well as teachers and friends play leading roles in Henri's story. This book is aimed at readers interested in contemporary, cultural or literary history, who are interested in studying this subject matter in a biographical way. As a literary genre, the work is assigned to fiction and here, as already discussed at the outset, it belongs to the field of biographical novels.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "With its warm palette and gentle scenes of the worried child being comforted, this book could function as a sequel to Sanna's astounding debut picture book, The Journey, which recounted a family's dangerous flight from their home in a war zone. Sanna provides an empathetic exploration of the adjustment to a new land that all migrants experience."--New York Times Book Review “Authentic and immediate, the first-person narration draws in readers and reveals just how easily fear can become overwhelming and isolating, but can also be controlled when feelings are shared and through comfort found in friendship. Like Sanna’s The Journey, this book about an immigrant’s experiences tackles a tough topic with honesty, empathy, and a sense of hopefulness.”—School Library Journal, STARRED REVIEW “This follow-up to The Journey about a refugee family fleeing a war-torn homeland, focuses on the young daughter’s apprehension as she adjusts to life in a new country and a new school.”—The Horn Book Review "[...] this creative depiction shows how friendship, empathy, and connection can help bring the overwhelming down to size for all." —Publishers Weekly, STARRED REVIEW “A universal book that can be used to explain fear to readers and give empathy to those in a new environment.” —Kirkus Reviews “It will be a familiar story for many children, but the girl’s specific fears about language and difference might make this useful for discussions about newcomers as well.” —Booklist When a young immigrant girl has to travel to a new country and start at a new school, she is accompanied by her Fear who tells her to be alone and afraid, growing bigger and bigger every day with questions like "how can you hope to make new friends if you don't understand their language?" But this little girl is stronger than her Fear. A heart-warming and timely tale from the bestselling author and illustrator of The Journey, this book shows us the importance of sharing your Fear with others--after all, everyone carries a Fear with them, even if it's small enough to fit into their pocket!
