Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I would have to start off by giving God praise, honor and glory for changing my life. To know that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and accepted me in his arms with willing love and delivered me from being an ex-adulterer, ex-fornicator, ex-user of people for my own benefit, to enhance my lifestyle. God would allow me to marry a praying woman that would encourage me, support me, and stand by my side through bad and thick days. The birth of my kids grandkids, spiritual sons and daughters of the gospel. Born 1963, one of the greatest years to be born as a male. That same year November 22nd 1963, a leader would emerge and lay down his life for the welfare of human beings worldwide. Sacrifice the separation of his wife and two beautiful kids to lead our country in a new directions by standing for equal rights of all human beings. To be treated fairly and given equal opportunity in the USA. His name was John F. Kennedy Jr. and in the same year, in august, twenty days after my birthday, another hero would emerge to the forefront against opposition, racial discrimination, a collapse in the world system, and a wall that divided two races of people. And this man would give one of the greatest speeches of a lifetime that would began a process of tearing down the wall of two races that would one day come together and help change the world. I have been blessed to be part of that prophecy that Martin Luther King Jr. gave to change the world. So I feel that my journey is to carry the baton to the next generation.

Book excerpt: A Christy Award-winning novel chronicling the forbidden romance between Martin Luther and his wife, Katharina von Bora, set against the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century. She was a nun of noble birth. He was a heretic, a reformer, and an outlaw of the Holy Roman Empire. In the 16th century, nun Katharina von Bora’s fate fell no further than the Abbey. Until she read the writings of Martin Luther. His sweeping Catholic church reformation—condemning a cloistered life and promoting the goodness of marriage—awakened her desire for everything she’d been forbidden. Including Martin Luther himself. Despite the fact that the attraction and tension between them is undeniable, Luther holds fast to his convictions and remains isolated, refusing to risk anyone’s life but his own. And Katharina longs for love, but is strong-willed. She clings proudly to her class distinction, pining for nobility over the heart of a reformer. They couldn’t be more different. But as the world comes tumbling down around them, and with Luther’s threatened life a constant strain, these unlikely allies forge an unexpected bond of understanding, support and love. Together, they will alter the religious landscape forever. - Christy Award: Historical Romance Fiction Winner

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Cultural History of Twin Beds challenges our most ingrained assumptions about intimacy, sexuality, domesticity and hygiene by tracing the rise and fall of twin beds as a popular sleeping arrangement for married couples between 1870 and 1970. Modern preconceptions of the twin bed revolve around their use by couples who have no desire to sleep in the same bed space. Yet, for the best part of a century, twin beds were not only seen as acceptable but were championed as the sign of a modern and forward-thinking couple. But what lay behind this innovation? And why did so many married couples ultimately abandon the twin bed?In this book, Hilary Hinds presents a fascinating insight into the combination of beliefs and practices that made twin beds an ideal sleeping solution. Using nuanced close readings of marriage guidance and medical advice books, furnishing catalogues, novels, films and newspapers, this volume offers an accessible and rigorous account of the curious history of twin beds. This is vital reading for those with an interest in cultural history, sociology, anthropology and psychology.

Forever an optimist, I eagerly agreed to be the first bride shipped under the new liaison program to Voran, a country on the newly discovered planet Neron. The Colonel also has two little boys—a huge plus for me since I adore children. My down-to-earth sister says I live with my head in the clouds. And maybe I naively hoped for an out-of-this-world romance. What I didn’t expect was an out-of-this-world brute. The scowling, growling, rough-around-the-edges Colonel proves hard to live with and impossible to love. He’s also proud and possessive and is dead set on keeping me as his wife. Did I mention he has horns? Well, he’s also horny… And our expectations of marriage don’t exactly align. There is something behind the scowl of this infuriating man, though, that intrigues me. Catching glimpses of his strong, fur-covered body makes my stomach flutter with excitement. I came to Voran hoping to find my place in its culture and in the Colonel’s heart. Could there be a way to make this thing between us work? _______________________ All books in My Holiday Tails series stand alone, loosely connected by the same world and the fact that all heroes have tails. The books in this series can be read in any order. _______________________ Contains graphic scenes of intimacy. Intended for mature readers.

Book excerpt: 'Married' is a collection of short stories by the Swedish writer August Strindberg. It contains two volumes: The first volume contained twelve stories depicting "twenty marriages of every variety," some of which present women in an egalitarian light. The volume also contained a long preface, in which, in addition to his support for women's rights, Strindberg offered criticisms of the campaign (such as its class bias), as well as of Henrik Ibsen's play A Doll's House (the collection contains a story entitled "A Doll's House"). The second volume of stories deals in part with "all the less common forms of 'marriage'" such as "pederasty and lesbianism."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In-laws are the inescapable consequence of marriage. Whether they’re kindly or malevolent, helpful or crazy, they’re unavoidable. The relationship can be traumatic, rewarding, maddening, and hilarious—sometimes all at once. In I Married My Mother-in-Law and Other Tales of In-Laws We Can’t Live With—and Can’t Live Without, Ilena Silverman brings together a collection of talented, successful writers who plumb their own experiences for extraordinary and unexpected wisdom about this prickly and often misunderstood relationship. We hear from some of today’s best authors, including Michael Chabon, who writes movingly about the lessons he learned from his first father-in-law; Kathryn Harrison, whose relationship with her father-in-law was far more rewarding and less complicated than the one she had with her own father; Matt Bai, who struggled across cultural barriers to learn more about the lives of his reserved Japanese-American in-laws; Martha McPhee, who explores the difficulty in fully knowing her husband without ever having known his parents; Susan Straight, who recounts her experience as the first white woman to marry into her African-American husband’s extended family; and Ayelet Waldman, who ponders the competition between wives and their mothers-in-law for the attention of their husbands/sons. By turns blunt and poignant, horrifying and touching, the essays reflect the rich complexities of these bewildering and life-changing relationships. Remarkable for both the quality of its prose and the scope of its emotional insight, I Married My Mother-in-Law is an unforgettable anthology about the struggles and rewards of life with our other families.
