Book excerpt: These notes give the basic ingredients of the theory of weighted Hardy spaces of tempered distribution on Rn and illustrate the techniques used. The authors consider properties of weights in a general setting; they derive mean value inequalities for wavelet transforms and introduce halfspace techniques with, for example, nontangential maximal functions and g-functions. This leads to several equivalent definitions of the weighted Hardy space HPW. Fourier multipliers and singular integral operators are applied to the weighted Hardy spaces and complex interpolation is considered. One tool often used here is the atomic decomposition. The methods developed by the authors using the atomic decomposition in the strictly convex case p>1 are of special interest.

Book excerpt: This monograph is a testament to the potency of the method of singular integrals of layer potential type in solving boundary value problems for weakly elliptic systems in the setting of Muckenhoupt-weighted Morrey spaces and their pre-duals. A functional analytic framework for Muckenhoupt-weighted Morrey spaces in the rough setting of Ahlfors regular sets is built from the ground up and subsequently supports a Calderón-Zygmund theory on this brand of Morrey space in the optimal geometric environment of uniformly rectifiable sets. A thorough duality theory for such Morrey spaces is also developed and ushers in a never-before-seen Calderón-Zygmund theory for Muckenhoupt-weighted Block spaces. Both weighted Morrey and Block spaces are also considered through the lens of (generalized) Banach function spaces, and ultimately, a variety of boundary value problems are formulated and solved with boundary data arbitrarily prescribed from either scale of space. The fairly self-contained nature of this monograph ensures that graduate students, researchers, and professionals in a variety of fields, e.g., function space theory, harmonic analysis, and PDE, will find this monograph a welcome and valuable addition to the mathematical literature.

Book excerpt: This monograph is devoted to the study of the weighted Bergman space $A^p_\omega$ of the unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ that is induced by a radial continuous weight $\omega$ satisfying $\lim_{r\to 1^-}\frac{\int_r^1\omega(s)\,ds}{\omega(r)(1-r)}=\infty.$ Every such $A^p_\omega$ lies between the Hardy space $H^p$ and every classical weighted Bergman space $A^p_\alpha$. Even if it is well known that $H^p$ is the limit of $A^p_\alpha$, as $\alpha\to-1$, in many respects, it is shown that $A^p_\omega$ lies ``closer'' to $H^p$ than any $A^p_\alpha$, and that several finer function-theoretic properties of $A^p_\alpha$ do not carry over to $A^p_\omega$.

The emphasis is placed on basic ideas; problems are first treated in a simple context and only afterwards are further results examined.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book establishes the foundations of the theory of bounded and unbounded weighted composition operators in L2-spaces. It develops the theory in full generality, meaning that the corresponding composition operators are not assumed to be well defined. A variety of seminormality properties of unbounded weighted composition operators are characterized. The first-ever criteria for subnormality of unbounded weighted composition operators are provided and the subtle interplay between the classical moment problem, graph theory and the injectivity problem for weighted composition operators is revealed. The relationships between weighted composition operators and the corresponding multiplication and composition operators are investigated. The optimality of the obtained results is illustrated by a variety of examples, including those of discrete and continuous types. The book is primarily aimed at researchers in single or multivariable operator theory.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of this well known book was noted for its clear and accessible exposition of the basic theory of Hardy spaces from the concrete point of view (in the unit circle and the half plane). The intention was to give the reader, assumed to know basic real and complex variable theory and a little functional analysis, a secure foothold in the basic theory, and to understand its applications in other areas. For this reason, emphasis is placed on methods and the ideas behind them rather than on the accumulation of as many results as possible. The second edition retains that intention, but the coverage has been extended. The author has included two appendices by V. P. Havin, on Peter Jones' interpolation formula, and Havin's own proof of the weak sequential completeness of L1/H1(0); in addition, numerous amendments, additions and corrections have been made throughout.

The spaces covered include Bergman spaces, Hardy spaces, Fock spaces and the Drury-Averson space. Operators discussed in the book include Toeplitz operators, Hankel operators, composition operators, and Cowen-Douglas class operators. The volume consists of eleven articles in the general area of analytic function spaces and operators on them. Each contributor focuses on one particular topic, for example, operator theory on the Drury-Aversson space, and presents the material in the form of a survey paper which contains all the major results in the area and includes all relevant references. The overalp between this volume and existing books in the area is minimal. The material on two-variable weighted shifts by Curto, the Drury-Averson space by Fang and Xia, the Cowen-Douglas class by Misra, and operator theory on the bi-disk by Yang has never appeared in book form before. Features: The editor of the handbook is a widely known and published researcher on this topic The handbook's contributors are a who's=who of top researchers in the area The first contributed volume on these diverse topics

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main purpose of this book is to give a detailed and complete survey of recent progress related to the real-variable theory of Musielak–Orlicz Hardy-type function spaces, and to lay the foundations for further applications. The real-variable theory of function spaces has always been at the core of harmonic analysis. Recently, motivated by certain questions in analysis, some more general Musielak–Orlicz Hardy-type function spaces were introduced. These spaces are defined via growth functions which may vary in both the spatial variable and the growth variable. By selecting special growth functions, the resulting spaces may have subtler and finer structures, which are necessary in order to solve various endpoint or sharp problems. This book is written for graduate students and researchers interested in function spaces and, in particular, Hardy-type spaces.

Book excerpt: The object of this monograph is to give an exposition of the real-variable theory of Hardy spaces (HP spaces). This theory has attracted considerable attention in recent years because it led to a better understanding in Rn of such related topics as singular integrals, multiplier operators, maximal functions, and real-variable methods generally. Because of its fruitful development, a systematic exposition of some of the main parts of the theory is now desirable. In addition to this exposition, these notes contain a recasting of the theory in the more general setting where the underlying Rn is replaced by a homogeneous group. The justification for this wider scope comes from two sources: 1) the theory of semi-simple Lie groups and symmetric spaces, where such homogeneous groups arise naturally as "boundaries," and 2) certain classes of non-elliptic differential equations (in particular those connected with several complex variables), where the model cases occur on homogeneous groups. The example which has been most widely studied in recent years is that of the Heisenberg group.

Book excerpt: The monograph presents some of the authors' recent and original results concerning boundedness and compactness problems in Banach function spaces both for classical operators and integral transforms defined, generally speaking, on nonhomogeneous spaces. It focuses on integral operators naturally arising in boundary value problems for PDE, the spectral theory of differential operators, continuum and quantum mechanics, stochastic processes, etc. The book may be considered as a systematic and detailed analysis of a large class of specific integral operators from the boundedness and compactness point of view. A characteristic feature of the monograph is that most of the statements proved here have the form of criteria. We provide a list of problems which were open at the time of completion of the book. Audience: The book is aimed at a rather wide audience, ranging from researchers in functional and harmonic analysis to experts in applied mathematics and prospective students.
