Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the study was to enlighten the knowledge of color and its application in selection of clothes. Any color in a dress looks nice if it is appropriate to the wearer’s skin tone and it looks becoming. The colors should be right for day wear and evening wear. This particular book will be presenting findings of both Day and Evening Wear. Color is one of the most important elements in Fashion. Fashion is color; color is fashion, giving feeling and emotion to every changing trend and is an essential part of our everyday life. Color is perhaps the first element that we register when we view something for the first time. Color is usually first to attract us to clothing. Color selection in clothes is very personal and each of us has a color or colors in which we think we look best. It was observed by the researcher through the pilot study that the age group between 20 to 30 years in women is very crucial, they have their own wardrobe demands, their choices in color selection are random and based on trends and mostly on others opinion. They need color guidance for day wear and evening wear. However, this reference is applicable to women above 30 years of age as well. Hence, under the study, ‘A STUDY OF COLOR SELECTION FOR CLOTHING AS PER SKIN- TONE’(Reference of Skin-Tones taken from Donna Fujji’s Skin Tone palette of 10 Warm and 10 Cool skin colors).I have tried to give proper color palette for each of the seven identified skin tone from the sample size of 500 women with a vocabulary of 101 colors (Reference taken from Jean Allen’s 29 basic and 101 Color Vocabulary) which were matched with Pantone Shade Cards and same were dyed in cotton and silk fabrics for this study by the Researcher. 22 One of the main objectives of this research is to address misconceptions that women have regarding skin tones and suitable colors for clothing for day wear and evening wear and provide an opportunity of enhancement of self-image. Since the study is based on skin tones of the women, firstly each of the 500 women’s skin tone was identified with skin tone scale and with the data analysis seven skin tones were identified on the majority ratio. Here the Hair color and color of eyes being constant as black brown. The second aspect was the vocabulary of color; it was matched with Pantone Shade Cards then dyeing them in exact shade in cotton and silk fabrics. This book hopes to provide suggestions, information and an opportunity to every woman in India to enhance self-image, look beautiful and attractive in the colors she wears

Shari Braendel teaches you how to finally love the body God gave you and how to look your best—from discovering your body shape and learning to dress it, to finding your best colors, to wearing jeans that flatter your thighs and hips, to finding the best places to shop to suit your unique personal style. Many of us are watching reality TV shows to get a clue on how to dress right and look good. We hungrily purchase fashion magazines any time the cover article has something to do with how we can hide our despised body parts. We make mad dashes to the local department store to pick up the new anti-wrinkle cream Dr. Oz promised will take ten years away from our face. We care about how we look. Why is that? Because we’re women, and women love to look and feel good. God made us that way. And this is not a bad thing. In fact, it’s a wonderful thing! God loves beauty. We should reflect his image by remembering that fashion meets faith the minute we decide what to wear each day. How we dress reveals to the world who we are, on the inside. This comprehensive style guidewill show you how to look and feel your best, no matter what day it is or what the occasion. And it will stop you from screaming at the top of your lungs, “Help me, Jesus! I have nothing to wear!”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This poignant debut by Gavin Bradley explores the emotional toll of different kinds of separation: from a partner, a previously held sense of self, or a home and the people left behind. The main narrative describes the deterioration of a long-term relationship, interweaving poems dealing with the loneliness of immigration and the anxiety of separation from Northern Ireland, the poet’s homeland. These personal poems enter their stories through a variety of characters and places, from dock builders to dogs, from shorelines to volcanoes, to “mouths soft and humming like beehives.” Other sections of the collection examine a post-Troubles’ experience in Northern Ireland (evoking the lived-experience of growing up with bombs and domineering Catholicism), tell grandfather stories, and show a lasting love for the people, the language, and the land. Separation Anxiety ultimately conveys a message of hope, reminding us that “we’ll be remembered for / ourselves, and not the spaces we / leave behind.”

Book excerpt: "The claim of The Black Poets to being... an anthology is that it presents the full range of Black-American poetry, from the slave songs to the present day. It is important that folk poetry be included because it is the root and inspiration of later, literary poetry. Not only does this book present the full range of Black poetry, but it presents most poets in depths, and in some cases presents aspects of a poet neglected or overlooked before. Gwendolyn Brooks is represented not only by poems on racial and domestic themes, but is revealed as a writer of superb love lyrics. Tuming away from White models and retuming to their roots has freed Black poets to create a new poetry. This book records their progress."--from the Introduction by Dudley Randall

Book excerpt: From NBC’s TODAY coanchor Savannah Guthrie and educator Allison Oppenheim comes an empowering fairy tale with a twist. In the tradition of Not All Princesses Dress in Pink and Princess in Black, Princesses Wear Pants follows the unflappable Princess Penelope Pineapple, who knows how to get the job done while staying true to herself. Princess Penelope lives in a beautiful palace with a closet full of beautiful dresses. But being a princess is much, much more than beauty. In fact, every morning Princess Penelope runs right past her frilly dresses to choose from her beloved collection of pants! What she wears each day depends on which job she has to do. Will she command the royal air force sporting her sequined flight suit? Will she find her zen in her yoga pants and favorite tee? Or, will she work in the kingdom’s vegetable garden with pocketed overalls for all of her tools? Unfortunately for Princess Penelope, not everyone in the Pineapple Kingdom thinks pants are always appropriate princess attire. When the grand Lady Busyboots demands that Princess Penelope must wear a gown to the annual Pineapple Ball, the young royal finds a clever way to express herself. Penelope’s courage (and style choices) result in her saving the day! In their debut children’s picture book, Savannah Guthrie and Allison Oppenheim team up for a savvy and imaginative story that celebrates fashion and girl power. Perfect for fans of Nickelodeon’s Nella the Princess Knight, Princesses Wear Pants challenges gender stereotypes in the name of individuality, showing girls it’s not how they look but what they do that matters.
