This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series Advances in Industrial Control aims to report and encourage technology transfer in control engineering. The rapid development of control technology impacts all areas of the control discipline. New theory, new controllers, actuators, sensors, new industrial processes, computer methods, new applications, new philosophies, . . . . , new challenges. Much of this deVelopment work resides in industrial reports, feasibility study papers and the reports of advanced collaborative projects. The series offers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of such new work in all aspects of industrial control for wider and rapid dissemination. The high performance control systems applications in aerospace and astronautics almost have a tradition of exploiting the most advanced control theoretical developments first. The optimal control and ffitering paradigm associated with the names of Kalman, Bucy, Anderson and Moore found application in the astronautics of the 1960'S and 1970'S. At the beginning of the 1980'S, control theory moved on to robustness, singular values and mu-analysis. This new work was associated with the names of Zames, Doyle, Glover, Balas among others. The Advances in Industrial Control monograph series have published several volumes over the years which have archived the applications experience garnered from applying robust control to the aerospace sector problems. Rick Lind and Marty Brenner add to this set with their volume on robust aeroservoelastic stability. This volume reports the application of the structured singular value to aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic aerospace problems.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Structural Dynamics and Aeroelasticity by : Dewey H. Hodges
Download or read book Introduction to Structural Dynamics and Aeroelasticity written by Dewey H. Hodges and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-01-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text provides an introduction to structural dynamics and aeroelasticity, with an emphasis on conventional aircraft. The primary areas considered are structural dynamics, static aeroelasticity, and dynamic aeroelasticity. The structural dynamics material emphasizes vibration, the modal representation, and dynamic response. Aeroelastic phenomena discussed include divergence, aileron reversal, airload redistribution, unsteady aerodynamics, flutter, and elastic tailoring. More than one hundred illustrations and tables help clarify the text, and more than fifty problems enhance student learning. This text meets the need for an up-to-date treatment of structural dynamics and aeroelasticity for advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate aerospace engineering students. Praise from the First Edition "Wonderfully written and full of vital information by two unequalled experts on the subject, this text meets the need for an up-to-date treatment of structural dynamics and aeroelasticity for advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate aerospace engineering students." - Current Engineering Practice "Hodges and Pierce have written this significant publication to fill an important gap in aeronautical engineering education. Highly recommended." - Choice ". . . a welcome addition to the textbooks available to those with interest in aeroelasticity. . . . As a textbook, it serves as an excellent resource for advanced undergraduate and entry-level graduate courses in aeroelasticity. . . . Furthermore, practicing engineers interested in a background in aeroelasticity will find the text to be a friendly primer." - AIAA Bulletin
Book Synopsis Wavelets and Wavelet Transform Systems and Their Applications by : Cajetan M. Akujuobi
Download or read book Wavelets and Wavelet Transform Systems and Their Applications written by Cajetan M. Akujuobi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2023-02-04 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook is unique because of its in-depth treatment of the applications of wavelets and wavelet transforms to many areas, across many disciplines. The book is written to serve the needs of a one or two semester course at either the undergraduate or graduate level. The author uses a very simplified, accessible approach that de-emphasizes mathematical rigor. The presentation includes many diagrams to illustrate points being discussed and uses MATLAB for all of application code. The author reinforces concepts introduced in the book with easy to grasp review questions and problems, tailored to each specific chapter for better mastery of the subject matter. This book enables students to understand the fundamental concepts of wavelets and wavelet transforms, as well as how to use them for problem solutions in digital signal and image processing, mixed-signal testing, space applications, aerospace applications, biomedical, cyber security, homeland security and many other application areas.
Book Synopsis An Overview of Landing Gear Dynamics by : Jocelyn I. Pritchard
Download or read book An Overview of Landing Gear Dynamics written by Jocelyn I. Pritchard and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On of the problems facing the aircraft community is landing gear dynamics, especially shimmy and brake-induced vibration. Shimmy and brake-induced vibrations can lead to accidents due to excessive wear and shortened life of gear parts and contribute to pilot and passenger discomfort. To increase understanding of these problems, a literature survey was performed. The major focus is on work from the last ten years. Some older publications are included to understand the longevity of the problem and the background from earlier researchers. The literature survey includes analyses, testing, modeling, and simulation of aircraft landing gear; and experimental validation and characterization of shimmy and brake-induced vibration of aircraft landing gear. The paper presents an overview of the problem, background information, and a history of landing gear dynamics problems and solutions. Based on the survey an assessment and recommendations of the most critically needed enhancements to the state of the art will be presented. The status of Langley work contributing to this activity will be given.

Book Synopsis Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions by : Holger Babinsky
Download or read book Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions written by Holger Babinsky and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-09-12 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shock wave-boundary-layer interaction (SBLI) is a fundamental phenomenon in gas dynamics that is observed in many practical situations, ranging from transonic aircraft wings to hypersonic vehicles and engines. SBLIs have the potential to pose serious problems in a flowfield; hence they often prove to be a critical - or even design limiting - issue for many aerospace applications. This is the first book devoted solely to a comprehensive, state-of-the-art explanation of this phenomenon. It includes a description of the basic fluid mechanics of SBLIs plus contributions from leading international experts who share their insight into their physics and the impact they have in practical flow situations. This book is for practitioners and graduate students in aerodynamics who wish to familiarize themselves with all aspects of SBLI flows. It is a valuable resource for specialists because it compiles experimental, computational and theoretical knowledge in one place.
