Book excerpt: Excerpt from Water Resources of Tulare County and Their Utilization, 1922: Based on Investigation in Cooperation With Tulare County The following report is based on field investigations and study of data relating to the water resources of the portions of Tulare County dependent on the Kaweah and Tule rivers and on smaller streams in the southern portion of the county. The portions of the county dependent on Kings River for its water supply were not included. Some areas in eastern Kings County have been included as they are a part of the areas affected by Tulare County streams. The work on which the report is based was undertaken by the State Department of Engineering in May, 1920, and has been continued since the reorganization of the state's engineering work in July, 1921, by the Division of Engineering and Irrigation of the Department of Public Works. The work was undertaken at the request of those interested in the development of the water resources of the county, expressed through the organization of the Tulare County Water Users Associa tion. The costs of the work have been paid by the state, Tulare County, and the Tulare County Water Users Association. The total cost has been about of which Tulare County has supplied the Water Users Association and the state The work has been materially assisted by the cooperation of all parties having data relating to the water supply and its use. Without such cooperation it would not have been possible to have secured the. Extent of data on which this report is based within the time given to the field work and the indebtedness to such assistance is gratefully acknowledged. Special acknowledgment should be made to the Tulare County Water Users Association and its officers, and to all parties concerned in the pending litigation on Kaweah River, to the Southern California Edison Com pany and to the landowners who have furnished data in connection with the ground water studies.
