Book excerpt: For years, Christians have argued, debated, and fought one another while "speaking the truth in love," yet we are no closer to the grace-filled life Jesus modeled. Biblical scholar and popular podcast host of The Bible for Normal People, Jared Byas casts a new vision for the Christian life that's built not on certainty, but on the risk of love. A biblically-based Christian life is not grounded in having all the answers but in a living relationship. This ultimately shifts our focus from collecting the "right" answers to loving others deeply and authentically. With stories and insights drawn from his years as a pastor, professor, and podcast host, Jared Byas calls us back to the heart of the Bible: that truth is only true when it's lived out in love. In a refreshing voice that's both witty and profoundly revelatory, Jared unpacks the concept of truth, its meaning, and why we so often fight over it. He makes a compelling case for how what we believe is less important than how we believe it and that, more than anything else, telling the truth in love is about following Jesus. For anyone who has ever felt forced to choose between truth and love, acceptance and rightness, this book offers a path forward beyond truth wars and legalistic religion to a love that matters more.

Still, perplexing Bible passages eat at us. Book excerpt: This study is a continuation of "I AM the TRUTH; the truth will make you free" which is about knowing the truth. This bible study emphasizes walking in the truth. The first part of 3 John says, "For I rejoiced greatly when brothers came and testified about your truth, even as you walk in truth. I have no greater joy than this: to hear about my children walking in truth." How do we "walk" in the truth? What does walking "in the truth" look like? As we continue reading 3 John, what do we discover is the opposite of walking in the truth? Walking is doing, being, and obeying the truth, but not alone; without Him we can do nothing. We walk in the truth, in Christ, in the Spirit. Jesus wants us to know the truth, know the Word, and be doers of the Word, in Him and with Him, following Him. To walk in the truth, we have to love Him enough to obey the truth, to walk in His ways, to be led by the Spirit. We're abiding in Him and in His love, and He is abiding in us. Then we go, led by the Spirit, following Jesus. When we do, the truth makes us free; free from sin, world, flesh and devil. Scripture explains Scripture. So each lesson herein is a paragraph or two of scripture, in context, where two or more of the words "walk, know and/or the Truth (and their various synonyms) appeared in the same paragraph; followed by five questions. Each Scripture is in context, but it's best if you also read what surrounds these verses. We suggest you start by reading the Gospel message under the heading, Start Here. We cannot walk the truth without knowing Jesus and responding to the Good News. Also included herein is Appendix A - Small Group Facilitation Guide with step-by-step instructions to help homegroup and bible study leaders host interactive meetings. Plus Appendix B - Sample Answers is an example of how one might answer the questions, particularly the first time. Let's resume the journey of knowing and walking in the Truth. The follow up to this study is called, "If you ABIDE in ME, and MY WORDS abide in you." Jesus said, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you" That's a pretty amazing outcome, but what's our part? How do we "abide" in Jesus? More specifically, how do we abide "in Jesus?" And again, how do His "words abide in us?" For all you songwriters interested in worship song content, consider the songwriter version of this booklet, As we WALK in the TRUTH (Songwriters' Edition). The scriptures are the same ones that are in this book, but are followed by different questions and some helpful hints to inspire the writing of upwardly focused worship songs. As we WALK in the TRUTH (Pastors edition) is available for pastors and teachers who create their own inspirational, comprehensive, theme-based, bible sermon series. The Scriptures are the same, but with different research suggestions for sermon preparation. The questions guide students and teacher to focus in on verb phrases (actions) that are in the Truth, use Scripture to explain Scripture, encourage everyone to KNOW God better and be doers of the Word. So that the Word of God will correct, reproof, train and equip believers to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Thank you studying walking in the truth.

Book excerpt: Imagine what our world might look like if Christians became known for remarkable love, as well as life-giving truth. The stakes are high and the need is great for Christians to represent Jesus to a watching world. And today, we have more influence than ever before--for better and for worse. We are among the first generations to have access to a global megaphone through social media. But it's not enough to speak truth louder to a noisy culture. To counter the reputation Christians have earned, our love must be just as loud. Ask evangelist Matt Brown, and he will tell you Christians today are facing a crisis of influence. In our rush to speak truth to today's tensions, cultural issues, and trending controversies, it becomes all too easy to focus on proving our points rather than extending God's grace. Conversely, when we seek only to love yet never proclaim a better way, we short-circuit God's plan. Truth Plus Love invites you to rediscover the biblical framework for engaging culture as ambassadors of Christ. Through biblical insight, cultural analysis, and practical principles, Matt Brown outlines how to champion truth without compromise, how to love unconditionally, and ultimately, how to step into this great adventure of representing God to the world. It's hard, it's messy, and it's the unfinished project of a lifetime, yet here we find our great adventure: representing God to a watching world.

Book excerpt: Women participation in the mining industry is often untold from the perspective of those who live it, the Women themselves. The ups and downs, the challenges and opportunities, the failures and successes, the pure duality of life. This book is the manifestation of a dream, the pure creative energy of using our lived experiences to share, empower and transform the lives of those who are touched by it. This book was birthed over a conversation by the authors after being in the same room again for the first time after two years. It was a joyful reunion, filled with laughter, story-telling, reminding each other how worthy each one's journey is. Many would say this is a rare occurrence for women in the same industry with similar backgrounds. It was a moment wherein we spoke about how lessons shared with each other have been making a difference in our lives. We shared our dreams freely like we did while we were still working together. As always, in true creative peer pressure nature, as was common amongst the authors, the question at the end of our conversation was: "how can we help you advance the thing you are currently busy with?" It is this spirit of having worked together so well as professionals and being the kind of friends that take a genuine interest in each other's lives that prompted the idea of sharing our experiences in a book. It is our intention with this book to show others that there is a place for each one of us to walk our unique path regardless of where we come from. To the person that feels like they do not fit in, this book will encourage you to appreciate the uniqueness you bring to the table in your chosen career. It is in these pages that we give hope to those that do not know how to work with other women, as well as those that do not know how to navigate the workplace in which they are the minority. We hope to inspire anyone that has a dream to take the guided steps mentioned herein that they may achieve their biggest dreams. It is our hope for you to walk in your truth in your career by doing the work that resonates with who you are without fear. In this book we share where we come from so that our diverse background in terms of upbringing and family structures can resonate with those who might have thought their background can limit who they can be or become, we share the much-needed awareness of who you needed to be to thrive in our career. This book's purpose is to empower those who need the strength to take the next step in their career, to share our experiences such that those who are walking the same path can resonate and those who walk besides us can gain understanding, and transform the lives of those who find inspiration in these pages.

Whether they are dealing with depression, anxiety, obsessiveness, fear, worry, or stress, their lives are limited and compromised by the ill-effects. People who suffer from emotional distress often feel isolated and unloved, either by God or by others, and often believe that there is no hope and no way out. There is good news, however! A truly biblical approach to healing emotional distress focuses on a holistic cure that integrates the mind, body, and spirit. Even when we feel truly alone, God is holding us in His hand. Even when we feel truly hopeless, God offers comfort and purpose. And even when we feel like we will never escape the pit of emotional distress, God sets our feet on firm ground and promises to never let us go. No matter what we have been through or what we are going through now, God can bring critically needed healing and transformation into our lives when we adjust what the authors refer to as “stinkin’ thinkin’.”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Never in modern times has the "truth" been under attack like what we are currently seeing. Vicious debates are raging over the sanctity of life, over sexuality, over gender identity, and over the very existence of a loving God. Although Isaiah 5:20 sternly warns against calling evil good and good evil, this is the sad condition in which we find ourselves today. The attack on truth is the simple process of calling the goodness of God evil while calling the evil of Satan good - a blatant attempt to bring God down and make Him equal to man. This must never be. The devotional that you are about to read is dedicated to the only absolute truth that we have in this fallen world. The Holy Bible and the scriptures therein were given by a loving God to help us find our way home. It is the author's hope that thoughtful examination of key scriptures will produce earnest reflection and fervent prayer - which in coalescence with our hungry hearts will bring all who seek God's Holy Face into spiritual maturity as stated in Hebrews 5:14. [Heb 5:14 NIV] 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. This work is a companion to the "The Battle of the Truth" video podcast series from the program known as "The Way" - which you can access on various social media platforms or by visiting www.TheTruthandTheLife.com. May the Lord God richly bless you through these devotionals.
