Or, if it fails, the plan could just add more bodies to the rising count. Brand's own demons also have a plan: break him. Both his mind and body. Bring him to the ground so that Arthur Morgant, the infamous rapist, returns. For Matthew Brand and the world, the hour glass holds very little sand left. Time has run out. The Devil once dreamed a dream; how will it end?

Book excerpt: What if we are stubbing our toes on the sacred every day and not realizing it? We are the most connected culture in history but arguably the most disconnected from the awareness of God’s presence. Waking Up Slowly is author Dave Burchett’s personal challenge to live “in the moment” and find the everyday joys he misses in disconnected busyness. What moments of joy do we inadvertently miss as we stare at our screens? What performance idols destroy our ability to appreciate God’s gifts? Dave Burchett sets out to find out how life might look differently if he awoke each morning consciously looking for the easy to miss “postcards from God.” Waking Up Slowly is an intimate, warm, and touching story of discovering how to more fully appreciate living in the moment. During his discovery, the author finds regular reminders of daily joys from his Labrador pal, Maggie. Waking Up Slowly challenges the reader to recognize, appreciate, and celebrate the ways that God reveals himself daily. Through regular people, everyday situations, cuddly creatures, and stunning nature, God’s presence is real and discoverable. We just need to wake up to it.

The inevitable pain of life gives us many reasons to check out--and many ways to do it. Alcohol, entertainment, pills, shopping, porn, chasing success, cashing checks, and collecting social media "likes"--these and so many other things anesthetize us from the wounds of everyday living. As Seth Haines wrote in his award-winning book, Coming Clean, "We're all drunk on something." In his compelling follow-up, The Book of Waking Up, Seth invites you into the story of healing. He invites you to see your coping mechanisms for what they are--lesser lovers, which cannot bring the peace, freedom, and wholeness you crave. Through guided reflections, sustainable soul practices, and stories from Seth's life and others, The Book of Waking Up points you toward the Divine Love of God that has the power to transform your life. As Seth writes, "Addiction is misplaced adoration." Now, join him on a journey toward the only Love worth adoring, the only Love that cures a soul. Join him on the journey to waking up.

It's not every day you get to listen to a true story about the incredible golden gumption of the human spirit, & how it can, indeed, beat defeat. We all have a special place in our heart for "Rocky Balboa," don't we? We all love a little underdog story. Besides, who doesn't daydream about the good old rotary phone days of mixed tapes & mosh pits, when times were much more... NOT pandemic? Welcome to this personal plight... may you marvel at the courage & candor, the art of recollection, the courtesy of a proficient execution, the charismatic way she draws you in. You will see what "speaking your truth" looks like, & witness how it lands for everybody involved, no matter what the uncomfortable cost. On the flip side, strap in... for an amusing, fun wild ride down the memory lane of the... oh so enchanting, 80s & 90s. An unbridled venture back in time, this provocative full circle moment is a tell-all account of the author's unorthodox passage through the halls of humanhood. Somehow, it all makes perfect sense even when it doesn't. Through the darkest hour, the promise of perseverance prevails. Children, indeed, are the future, & how we treat them... makes or breaks our world. This is a book about forgiveness & complete freedom for all of us, no matter what eats you up inside or how deep the cut. In Her Words No longer buried in the back of "Pandora's Box Is Burning," where it originally debuted, this special edition spawn for an all-inclusive broader audience where everyone is bound to relate. We all have a story... don't we? This book may be regarding my frayed family ties, but I'd be remiss not to acknowledge how the "system" has produced many casualties. We are in this thing called life, together, no doubt. This book will be a surrogate for anyone seeking to be set free. Breaking the chains of a flawed lineage is no small, easy feat, but I have surely done all the heavy lifting. I stand up, fight back, regain my power once & for all, & recalibrate my entire existence so that others can catch the rainbow, the promise of a better day. If you or anyone you know has ever felt... *abandoned, betrayed, forsaken, used, abused, neglected or forlorn *like damaged goods, a train wreck, a fallen angel, a failure *like it's too hard, too much, too scary or just too little too late Bring it in, fam, you are not alone. Unlock the heart cage here. Exonerate your well-being & joy. Grant yourself grace, permission to heal & release perceived issues for good. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE! Join me, your story matters too. By listening to mine, you will find that yours will suddenly wake. It's high time for ALL OF US to unravel the ties that bind & fly. BookonFire Press~ In Love We Trust

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Conversion" is a basic religious concept, which has manifold implications for our everyday lives. Ran Tene's Changes in Ethical Worldviews of Spanish Missionaries in Mexico utilizes a cross-disciplinary methodology in which the fields of Philosophy, History, and Literary Studies are drawn upon to analyze conversion. He focuses on two moments in Spanish writing about Mexican missions, the early to mid-sixteenth century writings of the Spanish missionaries to Mexico and the early seventeenth century manuscripts of the author/copyist Fray Juan de Torquemada. The analysis exposes changes in worldviews - including the concepts of identity, ownership, and cruelty - through missionary eyes. It suggests two theoretical models - the vision model and the model of touch - to describe these changes, which are manifested in the missionary project and in the texts that it (re)produced.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times bestseller! A remarkable and inspirational memoir about one woman's near-death experience, who was dramatically changed by the nine minutes she spent in heaven. On December 10, 2009, McVea, a thirty-two-year-old mother of four, went to the hospital for a routine procedure. While undergoing treatment, her face suddenly turned a dark shade of blue, then black. Her mother screamed for help, and a nurse tried to revive her…to no avail. Today, Crystal does not remember what happened in that hospital room during the nine minutes she was unconscious and unable to breathe on her own. She has no memory of the panic and the rushing nurses and the loud cries of “Code Blue.” She only remembers drifting off…and waking up in heaven. This unexpected meeting of a self-described sinner and skeptic with her God changed everything. Raised Christian, she had left her faith behind after childhood abuse and the subsequent struggles and suffering of her troubled teens and early adulthood. She longed to believe but felt abandoned, broken, and undeserving. A moving autobiographical testament to the power of divine love and forgiveness, Waking Up in Heaven shares the message of hope, healing, and compassion McVea brought back from her brush with God. This brave, honest account of years lost to shame and guilt will inspire those who’ve stumbled along their own spiritual journey, with the uplifting reminder that no one is beyond the reach of grace and redemption, and that, in the words of the author, “God is real. Heaven is real. And God’s love for us is the realest thing of all.”

Book excerpt: For the three people tortured by their secret complicity in a young man's untimely death, redemption is what they most long for . . . and the last thing they expect to receive. It has been twenty years since Philip McBride's body was found along the riverbank in the dark woods known as Happy Hollow. His death was ruled a suicide. But three people have carried the truth ever since—Philip didn't kill himself that day. He was murdered. Each of the three have wilted in the shadow of their sins. Jake Barnett is Mattingly's sheriff, where he spends his days polishing the fragile shell of the man he pretends to be. His wife, Kate, has convinced herself the good she does for the poor will someday wash the blood from her hands. And high in the mountains, Taylor Hathcock lives in seclusion and fear, fueled by madness and hatred. Yet what cannot be laid to rest is bound to rise again. Philip McBride has haunted Jake's dreams for weeks, warning that he is coming back for them all. When Taylor finds mysterious footprints leading from the Hollow, he believes his redemption has come. His actions will plunge the quiet town of Mattingly into darkness. These three will be drawn together for a final confrontation between life and death . . . between truth and lies. "Coffey has a profound sense of Southern spirituality. His narrative moves the reader from . . . [a] false heaven to a terrible hell, then back again to a glorious grace." —Publishers Weekly "The Devil Walks in Mattingly . . . recalls Flannery O'Conner with its glimpses of the grotesque and supernatural." —BookPage
