Book excerpt: Gus Adams is a middle-aged debt management counselor in Winnipegs Osborne Village who does not believe marriage and adventure go hand-in-hand. Trapped in the routine of a mundane relationship with his live-in girlfriend, Mitch, Gus secretly nurses a compulsion to explore his wild side, do something borderline insane, and test his manhood. After Gus confesses to Mitch that he needs to indulge in one last reckless activity in order to scratch his perpetual itch for excitement, she tells him her teenage niece is coming to live with them for the summer. Despite being faced with adolescent angst and a girlfriend who is making it more than obvious that her biological clock is ticking loudly, Gus still daydreams of satisfying his thrill-seeking pleasures. As he attempts one wacky stunt after another, Gus reignites the caveman inside of himwhile Mitch wonders if all the time she has invested in their relationship has been worth it. Boom Chicka Wah Wah tells the tale of one mans roller-coaster journey to the realization that what he thinks is the end of a big adventure is really just the beginning.

To the Keen family living in North Cariboo, B.C., Wah Lee was their forefather from China; amongst local historians, Wah Lee is the name for a general store in Quesnel, B.C. This book unravels the mystery of a name, which is also the story of a person, a business, and a family that traverses 150 years of history and crosses the Pacific from China to Canada. What unfolds is not just the history of one family, but a history of the recent past in Canada and China told through the trials and fortunes, hopes and dreams of individual family members. This is a story that can be treasured by family members, historians, and other Chinese-Canadians alike in years to come.

This book was released on 2017-06-13 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to introduce Islam and Muslims in South Korea to non-Korean readers of history, especially given the increasing popularity of Korean culture, particularly in the music and entertainment industries. This study therefore provides insights into the existence of the Muslim community in South Korea, something that is unknown to many and also on the challenges and problems facing both Korean and foreign Muslims in South Korea. It has been more than half a century since the end of the Korean War in 1953 when Islam first established its foothold in South Korea, yet to date only about 0.02% of its population is Muslim (about 45,000 South Korean Muslims) while the number of foreign Muslims continue to increase, reaching about 200,000 in number. Using a qualitative approach and interviews with Korean Muslim individuals, this study provides information on how Islamic da'wah was carried out in South Korea, the factors contributing to the spread of Islam, and challenges facing the da'i in performing da'wah. Moreover, this study also provides information on several Muslim countries, Muslim organisations and the individuals involved in da'wah activities in South Korea, especially with regard to their efforts and contributions.

Book excerpt: It all began when she found the silver charm bracelet. As a realtor, Geraldine "Geri" Jones has been trying for years to get the property off her hands. Back in the 50s, it had been called Mabelling's, one of the first drive-in soda and burger joints in the state. But after a calamity destroyed the place and took many lives, the remaining structure had fallen into ruin. It was while showing the location to a prospective buyer that she finds the bracelet buried between the cracks in the blackened floor tiles. What she doesn't expect is for the bracelet to transport her back to 1959. Back to the diner when it was in its heydey. There she meets Roddy "Hot Rod" Carvelle, with his tight jeans, tighter white T-shirt, and slicked back hair. A man twelve years her junior, who gives her the thrill of her life in the backseat of his baby blue Bel Air. But the anniversary of the catastrophe that destroyed Mabelling's is fast approaching, and Geri is determined to save Roddy from his final destiny. What she doesn't realize is that she and Roddy could become two more victims of the disastrous event.

Book excerpt: A group of people who are devoted to this noble calling and who aim to foil all external threats to their organization have to maintain strict organizational norms and values, which Professor A K M Nazir Ahmad highlights in this book. Since the aims and objectives and the nature of Islamic da‘wah organizations all over the world are largely the same, his ideas will be useful to those who take calling people to Allah’s way seriously, no matter where they are geographically located. And this is what inspired me to translate this important Bangla work into English for the benefit of the global readership.

They're best friends, they're hungry and they're determined to get the ingredients they need to make a delicious breakfast of sausage, egg and cheese omlets for themselves and Granny. Along the way they meet some interesting characters including a Quack, who fixes heads when they crack and a smelly, burping pig. Some of these characters are rather rude but that doesn't stop these happy, easygoing, hungry best friends from getting the job done. Throughout their trip they teach us how to count but more importantly they do a wonderful job of showing us that a good attitude and a smile go a long way when dealing with others. Superbly illustrated with intriguing characters, Bogo and Bull Wah will captivate its readers while at the same time making them smile.
