Book Synopsis Plant Metabolomics by : Carla António
Download or read book Plant Metabolomics written by Carla António and published by Humana. This book was released on 2019-05-29 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This detailed book aims to address the need for standardizing key steps in plant metabolomics research that is still considered a critical issue in the field. The collection unites diverse mass spectrometry (MS)-based protocols, from sample preparation and extraction of plant primary and secondary metabolites (e.g. a range of sugars, lipids, phytohormones and volatile organic compounds) to metabolite analysis, using exclusively highly sensitive MS-based methodologies, followed by frontline bioinformatics and/or mathematical modeling approaches to produce reliable biological data interpretation. Written for the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology series, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Authoritative and practical, Plant Metabolomics: Methods and Protocols serves both new and well-established researchers in the plant metabolomics field in finding helpful guidelines and useful laboratory-based protocols for setting up their routine plant metabolomics experiments.
Book Synopsis Handbook of Solid Phase Microextraction by : Janusz Pawliszyn
Download or read book Handbook of Solid Phase Microextraction written by Janusz Pawliszyn and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-12-01 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relatively new technique of solid phase microextraction (SPME) is an important tool to prepare samples both in the lab and on-site. SPME is a "green" technology because it eliminates organic solvents from analytical laboratory and can be used in environmental, food and fragrance, and forensic and drug analysis. This handbook offers a thorough background of the theory and practical implementation of SPME. SPME protocols are presented outlining each stage of the method and providing useful tips and potential pitfalls. In addition, devices and fiber coatings, automated SPME systems, SPME method development, and In Vivo applications are discussed. This handbook is essential for its discussion of the latest SPME developments as well as its in depth information on the history, theory, and practical application of the method. Practical application of Solid Phase Microextraction methods including detailed steps Provides history of extraction methods to better understand the process Suitable for all levels, from beginning student to experienced practitioner

Book Synopsis IDENTIFICATION OF VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS IN WATER BY GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY/MASS SPECTROMETRY USING PURGE-AND-TRAP SAMPLE CONCENTRATION AND INTRODUCTION. by : Bruce T. Heitke
Download or read book IDENTIFICATION OF VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS IN WATER BY GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY/MASS SPECTROMETRY USING PURGE-AND-TRAP SAMPLE CONCENTRATION AND INTRODUCTION. written by Bruce T. Heitke and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the purge and trap methods and the Hewlett-Packard model 7675A purge-and-trap sampler for the identification of volatile compounds in water by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The manner in which this instrument accomplished the transfer of volatile components in water to the chromatographic column is thoroughly described. Guidance is given to the analyst in the specification of operating parameters for the optimization of this transfer. The instrument was evaluated with both packed and capillary columns by using: (1) the volatile organics among Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) priority pollutants and (2) ground water samples from Rocky Mountain Arsenal. The Hewlett-Packard model 7675A purge-and-trap sampler proved to be adequate for identifying removable organic compounds in water at concentrations of 4 ng/ml (4 ppb) provided that packed-column chromatography is sufficient to resolve the components. This instrument is not suitable for capillary column applications.

Book Synopsis Volatile Organic Compound Analysis in Biomedical Diagnosis Applications by : Raquel Cumeras
Download or read book Volatile Organic Compound Analysis in Biomedical Diagnosis Applications written by Raquel Cumeras and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-11-09 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a thought-provoking state-of-the-art picture of how volatile compounds are used in metabolomics, currently a hot topic in the metabolomics field. It provides a thorough description of what volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are, why they are important in biomedicine, and what the analytical platforms are used. It also looks at multivariate analysis and databases needs. Because VOCs are end-up compounds of metabolic processes, volatiles can be linked to different diseases or pathologies for both diagnosis and prognosis. The authors provide authoritative information and guidance on the analytical and statistical techniques used and how to identify, and they review the main current areas of application, which include breath metabolomics, cancer diagnosis, and microbial volatiles. Key Features: Presents a thorough overview of volatile research in biomedical applications Examines both gold standard techniques (metabolomics based) and artificial olfactory systems Reviews all aspects of volatile metabolites in biomedicine research, from origin to detection platforms Describes relevant diseases diagnosis and prognosis achievements, including cancer
