It is clear that personal actions arise from a contract or quasi-contract, delict or quasi-delict, or from a certain peculiar right springing from various causarum figurise, Inst. 4. 6. 1. But, in this third part of the Pandects, the creditum is specially treated of which arises from contract and such actions arising therefrom. Contracts generally, as distinguished from pacts, are agreements to give, do, or furnish a certain thing in each of which, according to its nature, is found a cause of obligation.
