Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vitality Blueprint is a transformative approach to nourishing your body, mind, and soul for maximum energy and a thriving life. Drawing on the latest scientific research and discarding outdated models, we present a structured plan that encompasses diverse viewpoints, offering a balanced and sustainable lifestyle strategy. The perfect guide even for the busy person. Discover the art of crafting balanced macronutrients, embracing a plant-centric foundation, and selecting quality protein sources that align with your unique preferences and requirements. Dive into the world of healthy fats, mindful carbohydrates, and nutrient-dense choices that fuel your journey towards boundless energy and longevity. Unlock the potential of intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating as a gateway to enhanced vitality and metabolic health. Learn the importance of hydration, mindful eating, and the intricate interplay between physical activity and your overall well-being. Key Changes from the Old Food Pyramid Shift from Hierarchy: The old food pyramid presented a hierarchical structure with grains as the base and fats/oils at the top. The new approach often uses a plate or other visual representations that emphasize portion control and balanced intake of food groups. Customization: The new approach recognizes that one size does not fit all. Dietary recommendations are now customizable based on individual needs, preferences, and health goals. Mindful Eating: The new approach emphasizes mindful eating, focusing on the quality of food, portion sizes, and listening to hunger and satiety cues. It encourages a more intuitive relationship with food. Less Emphasis on Processed Foods: The old pyramid did not distinguish between whole and processed foods within categories. The new approach emphasizes minimizing highly processed foods and consuming whole, minimally processed options. Focus on Longevity and Well-Being: The new approach places a stronger emphasis on promoting not only physical health but also overall well-being and longevity. It integrates factors like mental health, social connections, and holistic lifestyle choices. The shift from the old food pyramid to the new approach reflects a more nuanced and flexible understanding of nutrition. It prioritizes nutrient density, individualization, and overall well-being. By embracing these changes, dietary recommendations have become more adaptable, inclusive, and aligned with current scientific knowledge. Delve into the realm of sleep optimization, stress management, and the nurturing power of social connections. Navigate the intricate tapestry of practices that empower you to live a life of purpose, vigor, and resilience. From cultivating a mindful relationship with food to embracing the wisdom of regular health screenings, this guide is your compass for navigating the journey to a life brimming with energy and well-being. As you embark on this path, remember that your uniqueness deserves tailored attention - consult with healthcare professionals to craft a personalized roadmap to your vibrant future. Embrace the "Vitality Blueprint" and awaken to a new realm of energy, longevity, and fulfillment that awaits your embrace. The focus has shifted from merely counting calories to prioritizing nutrient-dense foods. Nutrient density refers to foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial compounds relative to their calorie content. This approach ensures that you get the most nutritional value from the foods you consume. The understanding of fats has evolved. While the old food pyramid emphasized a low-fat diet, the new approach acknowledges the importance of healthy fats for brain health, heart health, and overall well-being. Unsaturated fats from sources like avocados, nuts, and olive oil are now encouraged.

First, you'll learn eight Key Concepts that represent the most important day-to-day elements living Primally, then tackle five Action Items that will enable you to literally reprogram your genes toward a long, healthy, and energetic life. The Action Items are presented in a fun and life-transforming 21-Day Challenge, featuring daily diet, exercise, and lifestyle endeavors with corresponding journal exercises. You'll transition out of the regimented, carb-dependent, fat-storing Standard American Diet (SAD), the chronic, overly-stressful exercise patterns recommended by Conventional Wisdom, and other health-compromising elements of hectic modern life. Instead, you'll smoothly implement the evolution-tested lifestyle behaviors of our hunter-gatherer ancestors to promote optimal gene expression. By eating Primally, you'll transform from a "sugar-burner" into a Sisson's so-called "fat burning beast", where stored body fat becomes your preferred fuel choice, and energy, hormone, metabolic, and immune function are optimized automatically. With an intuitive mix of Primal workouts, you'll get exceptionally fit in only a few hours per week -- and have fun while you're at it! The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Transformation is stocked with photos, diagrams, concise section summaries, workout descriptions and photos, resource lists for Primal-approved foods and foods to avoid, recipe suggestions, and detailed real-life success stories to help you stay confident and focused on your Primal journey. Unlike many complex, regimented, quick-fix programs, the Primal Blueprint 21-Day Transformation is a simple, sensibly-paced journey shaped by personal preference and a strong emphasis on enjoying comfortable modern life. The material is scalable for everyone, from Type-A fitness die-hards who might benefit from a more relaxed approach, to couch potatoes who need motivation to take that first step. Mark Sisson guides you in a light-hearted, irreverent tone that will make you feel comfortable and inspired, and never intimidated. You can expect quick results in the first 21 days (fat loss, improved energy levels, fitness, and blood test markers), but your 21-Day Transformation is only the beginning of a life of ease and contentment that is possible when you live in harmony with your genetic requirements for health and longevity.

Through real-world examples accompanied by lessons in physics, chemistry, biology, and spirituality, Dr. McDougall invites you into a deep understanding of how uncovering the essence of "you" can lead to profound health and wellbeing. How It Works Imagine the most incredible orchestra, containing all the instruments on the planet playing a unique, complex, and harmoniously balanced score that is the sound of you, and you alone. When your father's sperm meets your mother's egg, a flash of light and sound occurs, which informs the Unified Field that your life has been created. This imprints a three-dimensional Pristine Blueprint into the Unified Field, which channels the flow of life-force energy into your physical form. This Blueprint then becomes the template from which your physical form develops, and becomes an information set that orchestrates your complex physiology. In other words, it is the very sound of you. But as we go through life, we have all kinds of experiences that throw us out of alignment: the foods we eat, the toxins we are exposed to, the way we manage stress, our negative thoughts and unprocessed emotions, and even our unhealthy relationships. So what happens when we get out of alignment with our Blueprint? We experience entropy, aging, breakdown, and disease. Our degree of health-and even the rate of our aging-directly correlates to how well our physical body is in resonance with our Pristine Blueprint. The good news is that it is possible to re-align yourself with your Blueprint. Your Pristine Blueprint offers strategies developed through Dr. McDougall's years of experience working with patients as well as healing herself from Lyme disease. Throughout each chapter, she also provides explanations of the background science for the various approaches she recommends to bring yourself back into alignment with your unique Blueprint. With her perspective and tools, you can halt aging, reverse illness, and begin living a longer, healthier life.

Book excerpt: The idea for this conference came from a meeting of the IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing) Technical Committee for Information Systems (TC8) in Guimares, Portugal in June 2005. Our goal is to build an IFIP forum among the different Information Systems Communities of TC8 dealing with the increasing important area of Enterprise Information Systems. In this particular meeting the committee members intensively discussed the innovative and unique characteristics of Enterprise Information Systems as scientific sub-discipline. Hence, in this meeting it was decided by the TC8 members that the IFIP TC8 First International Conference on Research and Practical Issues of Enterprise Information Systems (CONFENIS 2006) would be held in April 2006 in Vienna, Austria. Dr. Li Xu (USA) and Dr. A Min Tjoa (IFIP TC8) were assigned to propose a concept for this conference in order to establish an IFIP platform for EIS researchers and practitioners in the field to share experience, and discussing opportunities and challenges. We are very pleased therefore to have this conference organised by the help of the Austrian Computer Society (OCG). OCG supports the idea of this conference due to the urgent need of research and dissemination of new techniques in this key area. We received 180 papers from more than 30 countries for CONFENIS and the Program Committee eventually selected xx papers or extended abstracts, making an acceptance rate of xx% of submitted papers. Each paper was thoroughly reviewed by at least two qualified reviewers.
