Book excerpt: The ability to see deeply affects how human beings perceive and interpret the world around them. For most people, eyesight is part of everyday communication, social activities, educational and professional pursuits, the care of others, and the maintenance of personal health, independence, and mobility. Functioning eyes and vision system can reduce an adult's risk of chronic health conditions, death, falls and injuries, social isolation, depression, and other psychological problems. In children, properly maintained eye and vision health contributes to a child's social development, academic achievement, and better health across the lifespan. The public generally recognizes its reliance on sight and fears its loss, but emphasis on eye and vision health, in general, has not been integrated into daily life to the same extent as other health promotion activities, such as teeth brushing; hand washing; physical and mental exercise; and various injury prevention behaviors. A larger population health approach is needed to engage a wide range of stakeholders in coordinated efforts that can sustain the scope of behavior change. The shaping of socioeconomic environments can eventually lead to new social norms that promote eye and vision health. Making Eye Health a Population Health Imperative: Vision for Tomorrow proposes a new population-centered framework to guide action and coordination among various, and sometimes competing, stakeholders in pursuit of improved eye and vision health and health equity in the United States. Building on the momentum of previous public health efforts, this report also introduces a model for action that highlights different levels of prevention activities across a range of stakeholders and provides specific examples of how population health strategies can be translated into cohesive areas for action at federal, state, and local levels.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The raising and training of competent ministers of the gospel were one of the three burdens that the author, Professor Z.T. Fomum carried permanently in his heart, alongside those of prayer and soul-winning. As disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are called to face the challenge of the unfinished task of the evangelization of all nations. More than two centuries after the ascension of Jesus, there are still many people groups that are yet to be reached with the gospel of salvation. And as members of the body of Christ, we, the people of Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI) are called to bring one billion people from 250 nations to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior who are discipled to obey Him in all things by the year 2065 A.D. Professor Fomum was concerned not only by the challenge of an unfinished task but also by the eternal loss of many souls for whom Christ died. To this end, competent ministers of the New Covenant are in short supply. That is the essence of The Work is The Worker–a desperate attempt to produce the kind of workers who will do the work to the satisfaction of God’s heart. This second volume comprises teachings delivered at various sessions of the CMFI Missionary Academy–The School of Knowing and Serving God (SKSG) between 1999 and 2009.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The state of the conscience, faith, and the Spirit-filled life are related. Sin, disobedience, hardening of heart and impurity destroy the good conscience and produce a defiled conscience. When the conscience is defiled, faith cannot be born. Lack of repentance, and a hardened heart produce a seared and dead conscience to the point where, when God speaks, you no longer feel anything. This book by Professor Fomum is a description of the state of man's conscience. His burden is to get every believer to cooperate with God to have a clear conscience before God and before man. A strong and clear conscience speaks of the possibility of letting in the light of God, for the strong conscience is full of the Holy Spirit. From a detailed explanation of each state of conscience, Professor Fomum demonstrates that the Lord has done everything possible to make sure that every believer has a conscience that is functioning at the highest possible level. His prayer is that everyone should step into the health of God for their conscience and become whatever God wants them to become in their relationship with Him. May you read this book in order to accomplish all that He has asked you to do for His everlasting purposes.

Book excerpt: In Separation from the Common, author Zacharias Tanee Fomum shares his personal journey of obedience to God's call to live a life of separation from the ordinary. Fomum's journey began with small steps of obedience, like giving away his suits when God asked him to, but it soon became a radical commitment to living a life different from what obtains in the world around him. Using biblical examples and others from Church history, Fomum makes the case that all who are called by God to specific tasks are called away from the ordinary life and to uncommon lifestyle, He argues that success and distinction come at a great price and that responsibility curtails a person's freedom. Fomum's book challenges readers to consider whether they are willing to pay the price for success and follow the narrow way that Jesus walked. Through his own story and reflections on the Scripture, Fomum offers encouragement to those who are willing to heed God's call to a life of separation from the common. He reminds readers that they can hear God's voice and that He will be their guide and helper on the path to success in Him. Separation from the Common is a challenging and inspiring call to a radical commitment to Christ and a life that stands out from the crowd.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a heart surgery of the spiritual leader. The leader’s inner life—spiritual condition—is determinant. Without a deep and intimate knowledge of God, any leadership exercised is from skill, talent, or natural endowment. It can never satisfy God's heart; neither can it lead God's people to destiny. In Critical Ingredients for Successful Spiritual Leadership, the author, Z.T. Fomum, will take you through the necessary heart cultivation required to build the leadership wealth that will set you apart and promote a mere seeker after God into a spiritual leader. He show-case the spiritual dynamics that will empower anyone in leadership at all levels with the capacity to move God to move and transform both men and situations. And since the heart condition of a leader is most altered in the place of prayer—where the heart is welded to that of God, then it is obvious that no spiritual leader can go beyond his performance in the closet—time spent alone with God. From another angle, the author demonstrates that leadership is conditioned on a life sacrificed, spent, and sold out for others. He elaborates at great length some critical aspects of spiritual leadership like strategic planning, the setting of goals, providing a model, etc., alongside practical strategies on how to successfully start and progress in leading a local church. The normal member of the local church is not left out, since they play a key role in their leader's well-being. This book will be of great help in providing insight on how you can be a source of great encouragement and spiritual progress booster to your leader. If you are actively leading or aspiring to lead God's people and are determined to dive deep into God so as to take those under your leadership to God’s heights and full approval, then this book is for you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Holy art of importunate praying and intercession. Importunity, says Prof. Fomum, is the cry of a man in extreme danger. It is madly asking God to open a door through the wall of a situation - until the door is opened. Importunity has God’s interest in view; it is taking no rest until God is moved to do that which He alone must do. He affirms that when God gives you a number of problems to which man has no answers, then He has promoted you - He has given you materials for importunity praying. God’s purposes in the New Covenant are tied to the Spirit-filled life. Christian service also starts with this quality of life. He reiterates his heart’s cry to see the leader strive to be Spirit-filled and press on to attain to the fullness of the Holy Spirit. We send out this book with prayer that the Lord would use it to produce men and women of importunate praying—watchmen at the gates of Jerusalem.

Book excerpt: The Lord Jesus Christ came to found a great kingdom of many spiritual nations—the race of the elect, the community of king-priests—and the apostles were the builders. In a sense, every ministry, and every community, has a founder and the rest are builders of that community. The Lord has called our community to emerge as a great spiritual nation—an organ possessed by the Holy Spirit for the accomplishment of God's end-time purposes. The general concept and Biblical background of a spiritual nation are introduced in Building a Spiritual Nation: The Foundation, by the same author. Building a Spiritual Nation: Spiritual Statesmanship takes us a step further from just the burden of organization for effectiveness, to confront the need to become spiritual statesmen and nation builders. It is a simple study with life-changing lessons from the leadership genius of king David. He forged a spiritual nation for God with a seven-fold might and led it with skillful hands. In this timely book, you will learn the principles of organic leadership in the building of a God-fearing community that brings fusion and provides regulatory coordination through - teamwork, - team leadership, and - teams of leaders. This principle of organic leadership is directly opposed to the toxic and cancerous paradigms fueled by individualism, selfishness and self-seeking which stem from the uncrucified self life—the enemy within! This book is MUST reading for all serious active or aspiring spiritual leader!

Book excerpt: There are the general purposes of God and the distinct purposes of God that He entrusts to specific individuals, groups of individuals, communities, and even to a Spiritual Movement. Both kinds of callings are documented in the Scriptures and all serve the economy of God’s purposes. To Zach Fomum and those that God called along with him, a distinct economy of the Gospel was entrusted that translated into a clear goal. The pursuance of that goal through obedience to God’s specific instructions has gradually clarified the will of God and the means of accomplishing His purposes. God’s will, God’s ways, our responsibility, who we must be, what we must do to please God, and accomplish our goal, are presented here as constituting our ministry. This is written for all who are part of our ministry, and for all who will be part of this ministry, so that we may serve in the same spirit for the same purpose and, by accomplishing the goal, bring glory to our Lord Jesus. God bless you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a ROADMAP for Pastors and House Church Leaders! The training of church leaders has been one of Z.T Fomum's main areas of contribution to church growth. Leading a House Church was born out of the burden and need for competent pastors for the growing number of House Churches in the city of Yaounde. The lessons in the book are practical applications of the theory and doctrine developed in The Ministers and the Ministry of the New Covenant—The Challenge of Missions—also written by the author. According to the author, a pastor is a person who bears the flock on his heart. He focus on the character and personality of the one called to take the flock in their arms, as a nurse carries an infant, to bring them to the Promised Land of God. As a veteran on the subject, Z.T. Fomum presents a heart-to-heart exposé on the disciplines of the pastoral ministry, including a broad spectrum of both the practical aspects and the dynamics of leading a house church before God. If you desire to be a pastor, this book will help you on seeking and receiving the pastor's heart. We send them out with a heart-cry that they contribute to produce the type of leaders that are needed for the Lord's flock on the eve of His imminent return.
