Book excerpt: Earth was never going back to normal. All that was left in the post-apocalyptic destruction were humans trying to find enough food to survive ... and running from the aliens who had come to scavenge what was left. Raine had never been a particularly brave woman. She preferred staying at home, sipping on a latte while reading a good romance book, rather than making an effort to become hurt by a real relationship. She only managed to survive the nuclear war by being at the right place at the right time. Now, as if having to contend with lack of food and dodging different species of aliens wanting to make her their next meals wasn't bad enough, the other survivors in her group blame her for being a jinx for every catastrophe that has happened to them. How was she supposed to know the feral man who she had saved was an alien Viking from Mars? How could it be her fault that, when she snuck out to check on him, two other women from her group followed and got themselves kidnapped? And, how could she be blamed for finding herself married to an alien by the simple act of saving his life? She wasn't a jinx; she was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. Still, it hurt that her new husband was beginning to think the same way as the group of survivors and wanted to give her back to the humans. While she wasn't crazy about the Martian side of Skars, the Viking part of her husband was hot and, like any heroine from the stories she had read, she was determined to prove her worth to him. Well, if she wasn't barbecued first.

Book excerpt: The forest was young when humanity was old, and now the forest was old... "It's a spring morning and I can love you like no one has loved for millions of years," she told him when they rested. "We aren't old; the stars are old. We're young. We are ten million years young and it's all just beginning." The planet shuddered in agreement, and some rocks fell in the distance. The saga of Mars after the Vikings is told by noted hard science fiction author G. David Nordley in a series of tales from the first landing in Martian Valkyrie; through a race to save a life in A Life on Mars; with terraformers called Comet Gypsies; during the first alien contact in The Day of Their Coming; and to the far distant future of human and Martian evolution in Morning on Mars. The stories unfold one by one as, under a dying sun, alien archaeologists uncover the mysteries of the Red Planet's rich and varied future history.

Lydia thinks Thorfinn, who claims to be a time-traveling Viking, has one oar missing from his longboat. Thorfinn is tempted by the odd woman...especially when she chains him to her bed. Lydia is tempted by Thorfinn when he teaches her that there are some tricks only a Viking male has in his repertoire. Is it really time travel, or a miracle? Could it be possible that sometimes God, or the gods, meddle in the lives of mankind...?

Book excerpt: One woman. Six men. Stranded on Mars. Can they survive? "One of the best things I've ever read." -Rebecca Royce, author of The Last Hope and Wings of Artemis series "Well written, shocking, engaging and a page-turner!" - Amazon reviewer All three Mars Diaries episodes in one box set! Travel to Mars and fight for survival in this thrilling sci-fi reverse harem series, based on the Six Swans fairy tale. Contains Alone, Hidden, Found and the EXCLUSIVE short story Rain (set on Earth during the events of the first three books). ALONE It all started with a headache. Next came the cramps. Then, the pain. Cries and wails filled the station. The bloody cough killed most of them. The others succumbed to the fever. And then, silence. I’m the only one left. My name is Louise and I’m the only human on Mars. HIDDEN It's been one month since Louise's men awoke. Slowly, they're finding a routine in keeping the station going. It's not easy, but they're getting by... until communications with Earth break down. Suddenly, they're on their own, and things that should have stayed hidden creep to the surface. Will Louise's men be able to help her get rid of her ghosts? FOUND We thought everything was perfect. We had our own planet, the freedom to do whatever we wanted, the resources to survive. And our family. My six men and me. Unconventional, strange, and utterly amazing. I never thought I could feel this much love without exploding, but it worked. For the first time in forever, I was happy. There was no news from Earth, but we thought we didn't need them anymore. We'd made it for six months without contact. But of course, happiness never lasts. And when happiness disappears on Mars, disaster strikes. NASA plans to send astronauts to Mars orbit by the 2030s. SpaceX wants to go by 2024, while Mars One wants to land a permanent settlement there in 2032. As we gear up for missions like these, we have a responsibility to think deeply about what kinds of life may already inhabit the planet -- and whether we have the right to invite ourselves in. This book tells the complete story of the quest to answer one of the most tantalizing questions in astronomy. But it is more than a history. Life on Mars explains what we need to know before we go."--From Amazon.com.

Book excerpt: Racing against time, Jade and her friends must hide evidence of Life on Mars to stop the probes from Earth finding them Jade is on her way to meet up with her dad, Elvis, for her sixteen-millionth birthday (tortles live a long time in spite of the harsh conditions on Mars), when she gets side-tracked by a strange object that appears to have fallen from the sky. Elvis’ travelling companion Starkwood, an electrostatic plant, is hearing voices, claiming that “The Vikings Are Coming”, while their football-pitch-sized flying friend Fionix confirms the rumour: the Earth has sent two craft to look for life on Mars. It then becomes a race against time to hide any evidence of such life before Earth destroys it for good. Can Jade and her friends succeed, with help from a Lung Whale, a liquid horse, some flying cats, the Hellas Angels, the Pyrites and a couple of House Martins from the South of France? Oh, and a quantum tunnelling worm – all while avoiding Zombie Vegetables and trouble with a Gravity Artist and the Physics Police?! A gentle and lightly humorous science fantasy adventure. Cover artwork and illustrations: Natascha Booth “Life on Mars is fantasy on steroids. Instead of swords and magic potions, we have the ‘magic’ science of quantum physics and relativity theory, channeled through what feels like a hallucinogenic dream. My favourite character is a quantum-tunneling worm, but the author’s fevered imagination provides us with a menagerie of almost equally bizarre creatures, on a mission to save the world — their world, that is, not ours. Suspend disbelief, strap in for the ride, and enjoy.” – John Gribbin, Scientist, science writer and author of In Search of Schrodinger’s Cat: Quantum Physics and Reality
