Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Work is constantly reshaped by technological progress. New ways of production are adopted, markets expand, and societies evolve. But some changes provoke more attention than others, in part due to the vast uncertainty involved in making predictions about the future. The 2019 World Development Report will study how the nature of work is changing as a result of advances in technology today. Technological progress disrupts existing systems. A new social contract is needed to smooth the transition and guard against rising inequality. Significant investments in human capital throughout a person’s lifecycle are vital to this effort. If workers are to stay competitive against machines they need to train or retool existing skills. A social protection system that includes a minimum basic level of protection for workers and citizens can complement new forms of employment. Improved private sector policies to encourage startup activity and competition can help countries compete in the digital age. Governments also need to ensure that firms pay their fair share of taxes, in part to fund this new social contract. The 2019 World Development Report presents an analysis of these issues based upon the available evidence.

Secondly, the potential long-run impact of the EMU on European capital markets, diversification opportunities, and the analytical framework for equity and fixed income analysts are explored. Book Synopsis Continuous-Time Econometrics by : G. Gandolfo
Download or read book Continuous-Time Econometrics written by G. Gandolfo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1993 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Time elapses continuously not in discrete jumps of, say, a quarter or a month. Hence models specified in continuous time are more realistic than the usual models in which time is taken to elapse in such discrete jumps. However much data available to economists is of the discrete-time kind. This was once thought to render impossible the econometric estimation of continuous time models. Over the past decade a body of theory has been built up to show that such estimation is not only possible but has serious practical applications. This collection of essays aims to provide not only the latest developments in the theory but also with original examples to show how it is possible to implement in real situations. Econometricians may find this book useful reading as may those concerned with macroeconomic issues who wish to keep in touch with the "frontiers" of their subject.
