Book excerpt: From the bestselling author of She Must Be Mad ̧ comes the second book of poetry and prose from Charly Cox. Honest, raw, insightful and magically interweaving the everyday with the abstract, Charly's writing is exquisite. She is a leading light of the new cohort of young women who are changing the landscape for poetry in the 21st century. Part-comedy, part caricature, but mostly harrowing truth, Charly Cox's second collection, Validate Me explores the havoc that the digital hemisphere is playing on our relationships, concentration span and mental health. Written entirely on her phone, this is a look at how a life lived online is both liberating and screwing us all up, through the gaze of one woman on the cusp of absolute digital burnout. Funny, heartbreaking and achingly relatable, Charly's writing has the power to make us all feel less alone.

Book excerpt: Velynn Saunders, originally from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, has been writing poems since the age of ten years old. She loves the spoken word and inspiring teenagers and young adults to pursue their dreams regardless of their circumstances. She feels any word not spoken and not shared whether written or verbally leaves room for fear, prejudices and mistakes; like drowning in your own righteousness. The poems written are different experiences that she experienced herself or through others that have crossed her path. Writing poems helped to free, to heal, to renew, and to let others know that if she has overcome these experiences; anyone can. She lives in Fredericksburg, Virginia and has three children. She has overcome her fears by publishing her first writings. Let’s have a moot!

Book Synopsis A Guide to Into Me I SeeK by : Abdul Mumin Muhammad
Download or read book A Guide to Into Me I SeeK written by Abdul Mumin Muhammad and published by BookRix. This book was released on 2019-07-28 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who am I? My relationship with myself answered that question. Self awareness on an intimate level helped me find unconditional love. I had to first develop a closer relationship with myself. This personal experience helped me to stop judging and criticizing myself, therefore I stopped doing it to others. My relationships began to improve with others, even if I did not like the person. I realized that my personal relationship with myself affected others and created my reality. Am I gentle, ashamed, or merciful towards myself, am I overly critical of myself, or do I hide my true feelings from myself? I used to be unconscious of how I really felt about myself. I had to accept everything about me, positive and negative, even my past mistakes, love all of me even when I was broke. I believe a good relationship with ourselves is equivalent to a personal relationship with God, the higher self, and the universe within. This allowed me to trust myself. A healthy relationship with ourselves can only be possible through self-reflection, looking inwards into our darkness. Unconditional love changed my perception of myself, and that everyone matters regardless of my personal feelings. We are who we are. This way we can love others as they are, this does not mean we have to like them. My relationship with my wife was still not perfect, I don't believe that there is such a situation, I am still learning and growing. I believe that external relationships are a direct reflection of who we are internally. Intimacy which is (into me I seek). Breakups can be one of the toughest things to overcome when we do not learn why it had to end. The stability of a relationship begins in infancy, psychological anguish is the reason why most of my relationships fail. I became aware of spirit within, I started to see my old perception of myself unfold in front of my eyes. I then saw how my strengths and weaknesses due to insecurities affected my relationships with others. I noticed

Download or read book Whole of Life written by Jürg Laederach and published by Deep Vellum Publishing. This book was released on 2013-12-05 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "I can assure you that no movie will ever achieve the speed of prose. Human beings just haven't realized that yet." —Jürg Laederach. With tongue resolutely in cheek, saxophonist, critic, poet, and one-time enfant terrible of Swiss literature Jürg Laederach here pursues the ambition of forcing all of human existence into a single novel. The Whole of Life tells the story of a man, Robert "Bob" Hecht, in three sections: "Job" about work and looking for work; "Wife" about sex during a bout of impotence; and "Totems and Taboos," in which Bob himself ruminates on the limitlessness of human limitation. In Life, space is compressed to the suffocating dimensions of a single mind, while single moments are expanded cubistically into entire landscapes. Bodies are vivisected and reassembled, and language is invaded, exploded, and reassembled. The Whole of Life sees Laederach composing a novel by taking it apart as he goes.

Its ending brought me close to tears." —Beth O'Leary, bestselling author of The Flatshare For fans of The Big Sick and Nick Hornby—a magnetic debut novel about a young man who has hidden a romance from his parents, unable to choose between familial obligation and the future he truly wants. If love really is a choice, how do you decide where your loyalties lie? It’s the countdown to the New Year, and Nur is steeling himself to tell his parents that he’s seeing someone. A young British Pakistani man, Nur has spent years omitting details about his personal life to maintain his image as the golden child. And it’s come at a cost. Once, Nur was a restless college student, struggling to fit in. At a party, he meets Yasmina, a beautiful and self-possessed aspiring journalist. They start a conversation—first awkward, then absorbing. And as their relationship develops, so too does Nur’s self-destruction. He falls deeper into traps of his own making, attempting to please both Yasmina and his family until he must finally reveal the truth: Yasmina is Black, and he loves her. Deftly transporting readers between that first night and the years beyond, Kasim Ali's Good Intentions exposes with unblinking authenticity the complexities of immigrant families and racial prejudice. It is a crackling, wryly clever depiction of standing on the precipice of adulthood, piecing together who it is you’re meant to be.
