Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers a new niche in circular accelerator design, motivated by the promising industrial prospects of recent micromanufacturing methods — X-ray lithography, synchrotron radiation-based micromachining and microanalysis techniques. It describes the basic concepts and the essential challenges for the development of compact synchrotron radiation sources from an accelerator designer's point of view and gives an outline of the actual state of the art. The volume is intended as an introduction and as a reference for physicists, engineers and managers involved in this rapidly developing field.

Download or read book Physics And Engineering Of High-performance Electron Storage Rings And Application Of Superconducting Technology, Proceedings Of The Asian Accelerator School written by Zhiyuan Guo and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002-02-27 with total page 567 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first Asian Accelerator School (AAS) was organised to show the rapid development of accelerator sciences based on electron storage rings in Asia. At present seven electron-positron colliders are operational in the world, and two of them are located in Asia: KEKB (the KEK B-Factory) at KEK in Japan, and BEPC at IHEP in China. It is also notable that one-third of the operating synchrotron light sources are Asian machines. To further improve the performance of electron storage rings, the use of superconducting magnets and cavities is of vital importance; therefore the curriculum of AAS was arranged not only to teach the basic physics of storage rings but also to give students a basic knowledge of superconducting technology.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unique guide on how to model and make the best vacuum chambers Vacuum in Particle Accelerators offers a comprehensive overview of ultra-high vacuum systems that are used in charge particle accelerators. The book?s contributors ? noted experts in the field ? also highlight the design and modeling of vacuum particle accelerators. The book reviews vacuum requirements, identifies sources of gas in vacuum chambers and explores methods of removing them. In addition, Vacuum in Particle Accelerators offers an in-depth explanation of the control of the beam and the beam aperture. In the final part of the book, the focus is on the modelling approaches for vacuum chambers under various operating conditions. This important guide: -Offers a review of vacuum systems in charge particle accelerators -Contains contributions from an international panel of noted experts in the field -Highlights the systems, modelling, and design of vacuum particle accelerators -Includes information on vacuum requirements, beam-gas interactions, cryogenic temperatures, ion induced pressure instability, heavy ion machines -Presents the most up-to-date information on the topic for scientists and engineers Written for vacuum physicists, vacuum engineers, plasma physicists, materials scientists, and engineering scientists, Vacuum Particle Accelerators is an essential reference offering an in-depth exploration of vacuum systems and the modelling and design of charged particle accelerators.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is presently the best available source on design and optimization of particle factories using e e - circular accelerators at the same time givingthe physical background for their construction. It addresses scientists and graduate students which is clearly reflected in its pedagogical style. The book aims at summarizing all the currently available knowledge on the motivation to construct particle factories, the design considerations of each of the different machine options including their lattices and interaction regions, practical details of the major systems constituting the machines, as well as a wide view of possible factories worldwide. It is the most up-to-date and unique collection of information of particle factories presently available.
Book Synopsis Synchrotron Radiation Sources - A Primer by : Herman Winick
Download or read book Synchrotron Radiation Sources - A Primer written by Herman Winick and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-02-28 with total page 529 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialists in the technical components of a synchrotron light source are usually well versed in their field and in the associated technical literature. However, with the rapid and continuing growth of synchrotron radiation research, and with new facilities coming online and being authorized for design and construction around the world, there is a need for a reference book that describes the various technical components of a synchrotron light source in a manner that will be useful to those who lack specialized technical background, but who have responsibility for some part of the design, construction, operation or development of such a facility. This would include technicians, engineers and physicists who have technical background in related fields but no specific experience with a synchrotron light source, and also project managers, laboratory directors, and government officials involved with synchrotron light facilities.College level scientific or engineering training or the equivalent experience is assumed and appropriate mathematics is used throughout. However, the basic concepts in each chapter are given in less technical language and a glossary of terms as well as an index will make the book useful for those with less technical training or experience.
