Si l'analyse 2D ne peut être transposable directement en 3D, celle-ci sert de guide dans la recherche d'une méthode de construction reproductible du plan d'occlusion sur le CBCT du patient. Cette nouvelle approche de la céphalométrie combinée à la PAC permet d'envisager un futur dans lequel les étapes conventionnelles prothétiques seront remplacées par des étapes essentiellement numériques.

L'étude statistique des résultats nous a conduit à repousser le plan de CAMPER comme plan de référence et à faire les propositions cliniques suivantes: parallèliser le bourrelet des maquettes d'occlusion par rapport au plan de COOPERMANN d'abord au laboratoire puis au fauteuil après avoir précisé le repère antérieur; faire appel à la piézographies qui donne un plan d'occlusion pratiquement superposable au plan de RICKETTS (souvent préconisé) mais sans passer par la téléradiographie.

Ainsi, la terminologie "plan d'occlusion" apparaît relativement polysémique, regroupant différentes notions correspondant à son utilisation.
