Download or read book Life Is Messy written by Matthew Kelly and published by Blue Sparrow. This book was released on 2021-08-15 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is messy. It isn't a color-within-the-lines exercise. It's a wild and outrageous invitation full of uncertain outcomes. The mess of life is both inevitable and unexpected. It is filled with delightful mysteries and frustrating predicaments. In our disposable culture, we throw broken things away. So, what will we do with broken people, broken relationships, broken institutions, broken families, and of course, our very own broken selves? We are all broken and wounded. This book is about putting our lives back together, and allowing ourselves to be put back together, when life doesn't turn out as we expected it to. Based on his own heart-wrenching personal journals, Matthew Kelly shares how the worst three years of his life affected him, by exploring this question: Can someone who has been broken be healed and become more beautiful and more lovable than ever before? The answer will fill you with hope. There has never been a more urgent need for us to attend to what is happening within us. This is quite simply the right book at the right time.
Book Synopsis The Creative Conscience as Human Destiny by : Eduard Hugo Strauch
Download or read book The Creative Conscience as Human Destiny written by Eduard Hugo Strauch and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2004 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Creative Conscience as Human Destiny explains how human nature derived from our biogenetic evolution. Whereas human ingenuity and self-realization replicate nature's creativity (its morphogenesis), human conscience epitomizes the integration of organic life (its symbiosis). These mutual processes became incarnate as humanity's creative conscience. Similarly, the co-evolution of man and woman has enabled us to create cultures and civilization. From our intimation of a Supreme Being in nature, human beings have also evolved a supraconscience. By acknowledging the wisdom of nature, we have a philosophy of life for the future.

Book excerpt: LONGLISTED FOR THE NATIONAL BOOK AWARD • “Fortified with wit and tenderness . . . Gun Love potently illuminates a puzzled land.”—O: The Oprah Magazine NAMED ONE OF THE TEN BEST FICTION BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY TIME • SHORTLISTED FOR THE ASPEN WORDS LITERARY PRIZE The searing, unforgettable story of a young girl's resilience, by the award-winning author of Prayers for the Stolen Pearl's mother took her away from her family just weeks after she was born, and drove off to central Florida determined to begin a new life for herself and her daughter--in the parking lot next to a trailer park. Pearl grew up in the front seat of their '94 Mercury, while her mother lived in the back. Despite their hardships, mother and daughter both adjusted to life, making friends with the residents of the trailers and creating a deep connection to each other. All around them, Florida is populated with gun owners--those hunting alligators for sport, those who want to protect their families, and those who create a sense of danger. Written in a gorgeous lyric all its own, Gun Love is the story of a tough but optimistic young woman growing up in contemporary America, in the midst of its harrowing love affair with firearms.

Book Synopsis The Open Heaven by : Christopher Rowland
Download or read book The Open Heaven written by Christopher Rowland and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2002-08-01 with total page 577 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Open Heaven offers a comprehensive discussion of Jewish apocalyptic literature and themes in the Second Temple period and in early Christianity. In it there is a sustained challenge to the widespread view that apocalypticism is a form of eschatology, and, it has been widely recognised as a significant contribution to the discussion of apcocalypticism in religion since it was first published twenty years ago. By concentrating on the revelatory character of apocalyptic texts rather than their diverse contents the author suggests that it is this aspect of the literature which best enables us to understand their distinctive religion. The book offers a sustained argument for the iew that apocalyptic literature is primarily about the disclosure of heavenly wisdom which offers recipients an understanding of life in the present. He also suggests that there ma be some evidence to support the view that apocalypses include reports of visionary experience. The approach to apocalypticism in early Christianity stresses the importance of the visionary element as a decisive element in the history of Christa origins.
