Ce mot suggère donc une relation qui n'est pas définie en termes de réciprocité. L'accompagnement scolaire a été défini en 2001 dans la " Charte nationale de l'accompagnement scolaire ". Il s'agit de " l'ensemble des actions visant à offrir, aux côtés de l'école, l'appui qu'ils (les enfants) ne trouvent pas toujours dans leur environnement familial et social ". Le tutorat semble avoir trouvé sa place dans l'accompagnement scolaire. En effet, les enfants ont besoin d'une aide individualisée, souvent assurée par des non professionnels. Le tutorat et l'accompagnement scolaire semblent s'adapter réciproquement et de façon spontanée. Cette recherche s'appuie sur des données recueillies auprès de trois cent huit enfants (âge moyen : 9.2 ans) avec une démarche expérimentale portant sur des tâches scolaires en mathématiques et en français. Le tutorat sera abordé d'un point de vue intergénérationnel et interculturel
