Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today's trust officer has to contend with today's new challenges. We have yet to see an investment or business that actually yields a positive return without risk. Trust Risk Management was designed to provide trust managers, trust compliance officers, trust auditors and trust committees with a tool to assess and manage risks in the fiduciary services areas. The format of this handbook is by fiduciary business product lines. At the end of each chapter there is a fiduciary compliance risk management checklist which will assist in the management of compliance risk. Trust Risk Management attempts to cover major risk elements that could lead to losses. Some of these include errors in decision making, lost revenues, excessive expenses, destruction of assets, recordkeeping errors, fraud, competitive disadvantage, business interruption, and violations of laws and regulations. Chapters one through five discuss the residual risks associated with the management decision to accept new appointments and in the administration of the account along the following product lines: personal trust administration, employee benefit trust administration, corporate bond trust and agency services, investment portfolio management and collective investment funds, and institutional custody services and securities lending. Chapter six includes operational and management risk issues, addressed from a management perspective, for the fiduciary services area. Several appendices also serve as useful reference material to assist in managing risks. Trust Risk Management will provide you, your trust colleagues and your institution with a valuable, hands-on approach to the management of risk in your fiduciary businessservices.

Book excerpt: 'This is an extremely welcome and timely contribution which extends our understanding of the relationship between trust and HRM in organizations, a relationship which has until now been under explored. This excellent edited collection explores trust in the context of HRM stage by stage from pre-entry to exit in a thoughtful and provocative way. In each chapter leading scholars in the trust and HRM fields highlight critical issues for both researchers and practitioners to consider. Key reading for anyone interested in how HRM can enhance and develop trust and how trust can contribute to the success of HRM.' – Antoinette Weibel, University of Konstanz, Germany and President of First International Network on Trust 'The issue of trust in organizations is an extremely important one, given the global economic situation. This edited collection is outstanding, comprised of the leading academics in the field and highlighting the challenges for HR over the coming decade. A must read for those in HRM, if we are to build trust in organizations in the future.' – Cary L. Cooper, CBE, Lancaster University Management School, UK An organization's human resource management (HRM) policies and their implementation have long been claimed to influence trust within an organizational environment. However there has, until now, been a limited examination of the relationship between the two. In this unique book, the contributors explore the HRM cycle from entry to exit, and examine in detail the issue of trust and its links with HRM. Each chapter takes an aspect of HRM including; selection, performance management, careers and personal development, training, change management and exit, and offers a new understanding and insight into the role, importance and challenges to trust within these processes. This timely book will prove to be an invaluable resource for academics interested in trust, HR and organizational behaviour. HR professionals should also not be without this path-breaking study.

Book excerpt: element of relationships between entities, but, above all, it positively influences the building of an organization's intellectual capital. This capital can be defined in different ways, but its definition always references elements that determine the potential of sustainable organizations, often in human, social, relational, organizational, and innovation dimensions. Trust is increasingly becoming the key determinant of this capital (Kożuch, Lenart-Gansiniec, 2017). Trust also has a number of different definitions. However, the basis of many of these definitions is the building of relationships focused on developing some kind of individual or inter-organizational link. Organizational trust is a complicated concept, and it is the basis of all organized activities performed by people in the organization, largely because trust is needed to develop relationships with integrity and commitment. Thus, it is interesting to study the relationship between trust and the building of the intellectual capital of sustainable organizations. Indeed, intellectual capital plays a special role here. It is a guide and a platform for achieving not only a competitive advantage for the sustainable organization, but also a source of value creation in the short and long term. Thus, this strategic hybrid, composed of a business model, strategy, and business processes, is favorable to the development of intellectual capital (Jabłoński 2017). Trust is an element that ties this capital to relationships in business. Moreover, it has an integrated character (R.C. Mayer, J. H. Davis, F. D. Schoorman 1995). Assuming that, nowadays, the network paradigm is becoming increasingly important, it is worth asking how the mechanism of building trust-based intellectual capital in a sustainable organization functions as its key asset in the network environment.

This book aims to bring together innovative results and new research trends in inf- mation processing, computer science and management engineering. If an information processing system is able to perform useful actions for an obj- tive in a given domain, it is because the system knows something about that domain. The more knowledge it has, the more useful it can be to its users. Without that kno- edge, the system itself is useless. In the information systems field, there is conceptual modeling for the activity that elicits and describes the general knowledge a particular information system needs to know. The main objective of conceptual modeling is to obtain that description, which is called a conceptual schema. Conceptual schemas are written in languages called conceptual modeling languages. Conceptual modeling is an important part of requi- ments engineering, the first and most important phase in the development of an inf- mation system.
