This best describes a life that Jesus has snatched from the enemy of our souls, and now displays as a prized possession—a trophy! In this forty-day devotional we will peak into the private world of a few prized possessions who have crossed my path and significantly impacted my life, as well as the lives of countless others. The first names of these Christian women are arranged alphabetically followed by the meanings of their names, and Scriptures which reflect their character. Each of the forty devotionals consists of a brief sharing from their individual spiritual journey—emphasizing the reality of God's personal presence, provision, and overcoming power evident in everyday lives.

Book excerpt: Life can get so busy and stressful at times. There are those days we just don't have enough time to finish what we need to do. And even though there are 1440 minutes each day, the world and all its demands has a way to somehow crowd out the most important part, our quiet time with God.One of the best places to enjoy a quiet & undisturbed time with God is when you are in the woods sitting in your hunting stand or on the water fishing. There, in the great outdoors, enjoying the awesome creation that God has blessed us with, you can sense the Lord calling to you: "Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10). It reminds me of Elijah in 1 Kings 19, when he was on the run and God asked him what he was doing dwelling in a cave. And after Elijah answers the Lord we see how the Lord responds back to him: (1 Kings 19:11-12) The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountain apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the Earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. After the fire came a gentle whisper. What an amazing experience Elijah had while on the mountain, in God's presence. I'm sure we've all witnessed & experienced some things in the outdoors that we treasure. I know I have. Those of us that enjoy all the glory and mystery of the outdoors, are so blessed to witness and experience all the wonders of our Creator each time we venture into His creation. One of the most blessed places to listen for that "still small voice" of God is while we are enjoying the outdoors like Elijah was. This awesome daily devotional written by Dean Hulce: "Trophies Of Grace," is a wonderful and encouraging book filled with real life experiences as they relate to scripture. It is a powerful daily devotional that I know God will use to speak to your heart and bless your life, whether you enjoy the outdoors or not. God bless. Pastor Ted Ricci and author of: "At the Crossroads of Life.""

Becoming God's Trophy begins with faith and ends in relationship. Even with these truths, it may be the author's personal testimony that shows most what it means to be God's Trophy. Book excerpt: Journalist and spiritual seeker Philip Yancey has always struggled with the most basic questions of the Christian faith. The question he tackles in What Good Is God? concerns the practical value of belief in God. His search for the answer to this question took him to some amazing settings around the world: Mumbai, India when the firing started during the terrorist attacks; at the motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated; on the Virginia Tech campus soon after the massacre; an AA convention; and even to a conference for women in prostitution. At each of the ten places he visited, his preparation for the visit and exactly what he said to the people he met each provided evidence that faith really does work when what we believe is severely tested. What Good Is God? tells the story of Philip's journey -- the background, the preparation, the presentations themselves. Here is a story of grace for armchair travelers, spiritual seekers, and those in desperate need of assurance that their faith really matters.

It restores the place of believers as kings and priests who should not choose one function above another. They should exercise both functions for Kingdom expansion. It provides case studies from competing worldviews on how to disciple our world. Jesus said, "Go disciple nations!" So far the Church has been doing a poor job of this. I believe that this revelation is one more cog in the wheel that will help believers take their place of influence and advance the Kingdom mandate on earth. May His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is Heaven!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Short History of Erskine Theological Seminary Erskine Seminary was founded in 1837 by the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Synod of the South. Presbyterians have historically believed that educated ministers are essential for healthy churches and the Seminary was founded to meet this critical need. Two years later, the faculty was enlarged to establish the first four-year denominational college in South Carolina, with the Seminary operating as an arm of the College. The two institutions were formally separated in 1859, but were reunited in 1926 under the name Erskine College, with the Seminary serving as a professional school alongside the undergraduate Christian liberal arts institution. The Seminary’s name honors the heritage of the brothers Ralph and Ebenezer Erskine, who served as pastors and leaders in the Presbyterian church in Scotland in the early 1700s. The Erskines are particularly remembered for two courageous stands. When some claimed that people must repent of their sins (and clean up their lives) before they could come to Christ, the Erskines insisted that God in his grace invites people to come to Christ as they are, as sinners, to receive forgiveness (“the Marrow controversy”). When wealthy landowners claimed the right to name pastors of churches built on their land (“patronage”), the Erskines insisted that Christ, the Lord of the Church, had given that right to the people in the church. Ebenezer Erskine (with others) was rebuked by the Church of Scotland and later suspended from the ministry. He with three others “seceded” to form an “Associate Presbytery” (one of the predecessors of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church) and continued to proclaim God’s free grace. Erskine has sought to share its heritage and resources with the wider church. The Seminary first began offering courses outside of Due West in 1980. Following the provision of the expanded facilities of Bowie Divinity Hall in 1985, the Board of Trustees approved the expansion of the Seminary’s mission to serve the larger evangelical community and the Seminary adopted a block schedule (each class meets only one day each week for three hours) to accommodate commuting students. Since that time, students from many other churches – Presbyterian, Baptist, AME, Methodist, Pentecostal, and non-denominational – have joined students from the ARP Church to receive training for ministry. In the 1990s, the Seminary launched its distance education program and in 2010 was approved to offer complete degree programs at its Columbia campus. Without wavering from its Evangelical and Reformed commitments, the Seminary continues to seek additional ways to serve the whole Church of Jesus Christ.
