Gracias a Pedro Ortega, un lúcido observador del mundo que nos rodea, tan escrupuloso y metódico en todo lo que hace, me he percatado que en realidad se trata de un profundo juego educativo que representa una concepción del mundo típica del final de la Edad Media, es decir un microcosmos en miniatura expresado por cinco grupos: las condiciones humanas, Apolo y las Musas, las Artes Liberales, las Virtudes cristianas y los cuerpos celestes, que Pedro va analizando en sendos capítulos, haciéndonos saborear cada símbolo. Ya sé que hay gente que solo ve en el tarot un simple juego de cartas o una expresión artística, al igual que en el juego de la oca ve un inofensivo entretenimiento de fichas y dados, pero para los que realmente «saben ver», como ocurre con Pedro Ortega, el tarot es mucho más. Es una herramienta de conocimiento. Y el de Mantegna todo un tratado esotérico repleto de claves (configuradas en torno al número siete) que analiza e interpreta con sumo detalle como solo él sabe hacer: con arte, imaginación, intuición y documentación. Un tarot con un orden desplegado que si lo pilla Umberto Eco o Arturo Pérez Reverte nos escriben otro "Nombre de la Rosa" o un "Club Dumas" donde cada carta sería una pista a seguir y un misterio que descifrar. O sea, un arcano. He vuelto a ver mis respectivas barajas del tarot de otra manera. Nada más leer esta extraordinaria y clarificadora obra de Pedro Ortega, ¿saben lo que hice? Pues ir a comprarme un nuevo tarot, esta vez el de Mantegna (imperdonable no haberlo tenido antes) porque ahora, sabiendo lo que sé, la palabra tarot se le queda corta.
