Armor and Infantry rifle company teams are organized to close with the enemy by fire and maneuver to destroy, capture, or to repel the enemy's assault by fire, close combat, or counterattack. However, they are equally suited to perform stability or civil support operations independently or as part of a combined arms battalion. The company team must retain the flexibility to conduct all four types of operations: offensive, defensive, and stability or civil support simultaneously if required. Because of its mix of weaponry, personnel, and supporting elements, the company team is one of the most versatile combat assets on the modern battlefield.

Book Synopsis Training Circular Tc 3-09.8 Fire Support and Field Artillery Certification and Qualification February 2019 by : United States Government Us Army
Download or read book Training Circular Tc 3-09.8 Fire Support and Field Artillery Certification and Qualification February 2019 written by United States Government Us Army and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-02-06 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual, Training Circular TC 3-09.8 Fire Support and Field Artillery Certification and Qualification February 2019, provides the standards for implementing a Field Artillery (FA) gunnery program which incorporates all components of the FA system of systems within each FA formation at Battalion (BN) and below to include the Fire Support Teams and Cells which reside within all Brigade Combat Teams. This TC applies to all FA BNs whether in a Brigade Combat Team, Field Artillery Brigade or separate unit. The objective of the TC is to provide the basic requirements which will result in a safe, technically and doctrinally grounded, progressive, task-oriented gunnery plan which certifies and qualifies our Teams, Crews, Cells, Sections, Platoons, Batteries, and Battalions to provide accurate fires to supported commanders. FA, as a system of systems, requires integrating functions or tasks performed by the critical elements of the unit to provide timely and accurate fires. The Artillery Tables I-VI provide the commander with a systematic means of training, certifying and qualifying sections/crews/teams that are critical to the solution of the gunnery problem. The tables provide progressive training from Military Occupational Specialty qualified individual tasks (Artillery Tables I) through collective gunnery training at the FA battalion level (Artillery Tables XVIII). The FA tables provide FA leaders and Soldiers with the "what" and "how" how to train utilizing materials that are standard across the Army. This TC provides a training strategy to help all FA units to become as accurate and responsive as possible given any condition in any environment. All FA units strive to achieve first round fire for effect. In order to accomplish this goal an artillery unit must compensate for nonstandard conditions as completely as time and the tactical situation permit. There are five requirements for achieving accurate first-round fire for effect. These requirements are accurate target location and size, accurate firing unit location, accurate weapon and ammunition information, accurate meteorological information, and accurate computational procedures. If these requirements are met, the firing unit will be able to deliver accurate and timely fires in support of the maneuver commander. If the requirements for accurate fire cannot be met completely, the firing unit may be required to use adjust-fire missions to engage targets. Adjust-fire missions can result in reduced effect on the target, increased ammunition expenditure, and greater possibility that the firing unit will be detected by hostile Target Acquisition assets.

Download or read book Small Wars Manual written by United States Marine Corps and published by e-artnow. This book was released on 2021-12-03 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Small Wars Manual is a manual on tactics and strategies for engaging in certain types of military operations created by the United States Marine Corps. The purpose of this work is sharing experience and preserving the achievements of tactics and organization of small wars, or different military operations of the United States in countries where government is "unstable, inadequate, or unsatisfactory for the preservation of life and of such interests as are determined by the foreign policy" of the United States. The book starts with the definition of the term "small war" and continues into more than 500 pages on tactics, personnel structure, communication chain, transportation and logistics, military-civil relationship, psychological side of war, training, and support of native armed organizations and much more. The book is extremely interesting as a manual on tactics, whether it is used for a military operation or any other sort of massive campaign involving a large part of population, like elections. For example, it contains a chapter telling how to plan and organize legally the disarmament of local population. It tells what laws should be issued and what organizations form, what sort of personnel should be involved and what should be their roles. A reader will find guidelines on how to distribute and spare resources needed for a campaign, and how to properly cross a river in a dangerous area. Given the book's organization, structure and abundance of important information, covering different aspects of civil and military campaigns, this volume is a must-read for any person engaged in a state service or a student considering career in serving their country.

Book Synopsis Strengthening the Military Family Readiness System for a Changing American Society by : National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
Download or read book Strengthening the Military Family Readiness System for a Changing American Society written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2019-10-25 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. military has been continuously engaged in foreign conflicts for over two decades. The strains that these deployments, the associated increases in operational tempo, and the general challenges of military life affect not only service members but also the people who depend on them and who support them as they support the nation â€" their families. Family members provide support to service members while they serve or when they have difficulties; family problems can interfere with the ability of service members to deploy or remain in theater; and family members are central influences on whether members continue to serve. In addition, rising family diversity and complexity will likely increase the difficulty of creating military policies, programs and practices that adequately support families in the performance of military duties. Strengthening the Military Family Readiness System for a Changing American Society examines the challenges and opportunities facing military families and what is known about effective strategies for supporting and protecting military children and families, as well as lessons to be learned from these experiences. This report offers recommendations regarding what is needed to strengthen the support system for military families.
