Book excerpt: Medical Astrology is no longer a specialty that only a few astrologers can learn to use, as was the case for the last century. Presented here is a step-by-step approach to teaching the logic of this field, which traditionally was part of every natal astrologer's work. Included are natal, horary, and electional methods, as well as an extensive history of medical astrology and its uses. Dr. Lehman offers the traditional astrological methods for this system, also emphasizing that medical astrology was always an adjunct to medicine, not a complete system by itself. This book is designed for the intermediate student in astrology who wants to learn the basics of how this system works. Both theory and practice of these methods are taught.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Medical astrology is a fascinating subject, yet undoubtedly a rather challenging one. In this work however, the author attempts to ease the path towards greater understanding of traditional astrological principles regarding health, as well as introducing some new experiential ideas. These have been developed through her long pratice in this field. What can sometimes be helpful in studying a chart is to understand the psychological underlay to medical conditions inherent in the cosmic pattern. The many charts included in this work from the author's own casebook as well as the charts of some public figures both current and historical, suggest guidelines for interpretation. This book is recommended for anyone who is interested in exploring medical astrology in greater depth, and perhaps including some aspects of it in their own astrological work.

Book excerpt: This is one of the most sophisticated medical astrology books ever written. Many of the finer points are dealt with. You know the head is ruled by Aries, but did you know the nasal bones are co-ruled by Scorpio? There are references to Vedic principles. A helpful diagram explains the subtle division of the urinary tract between Libra and Scorpio. Rulerships are given not only for areas of the body and its organs, but also for bones, muscles, arteries and veins. Terminology in the book is modern. Gemini's rulership of muscles includes the deltoid, biceps, supinator radii, subclavians, triceps, serratus anticus minor, pectoralis, palmaris, etc. Many chapters are unique, such as Chapter 5, on crystallization, and Chapter 6, on tonicity, atonicity, and perversion. This chapter also tells how pairs of planets mirror each other: Sun/Moon, Mars/Saturn, Jupiter/Venus, Uranus/Neptune, with Mercury as a receiver. Chapter 11 concerns many different kinds of planetary strengths, among them, aspect strength, mundane strength, natural strength (the planet in its natal sign) and directional strength. Chapter 13 gives astrological indicators for some specific diseases, a foretaste of what Charles Carter would expand upon in his famous Encyclopaedia of Psychological Astrology. This book was originally published as Alan Leo's Astrological Manual No. 9 in 1908. This is the second edition of 1914. There are references in this book to other books in the Alan Leo series, dealing with chart construction. This book is highly recommended by H.L. Cornell in his Encyclopaedia of Medical Astrology. Heinrich Daath's Medical Astrology is part of a comprehensive series of classic astro-medical texts published by Astrology Classics. Other books in the series include: - Joseph Blagrave: Astrological Practice of Physick, 1671 C.E.O. Carter: An Encyclopaedia of Psychological Astrology, 1954 H.L. Cornell: Encyclopaedia of Medical Astrology, 1933 Nicholas Culpeper: Astrological Judgement of Diseases from the Decumbiture of the Sick, 1655, and, Urinalia, 1658 Richard Saunders: The Astrological Judgement and Practice of Physick, 1677 Luke Broughton: The Elements of Astrology, 1898"

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The diseases are the result of our past karmas and indicated by weak and afflicted planets. This can be easily understood by an astrologer. Therefore every book on astrology has discussed the diseases and yogas for these diseases are scattered throughout the astrological literature. Some of these Yogas have been compiled in this book for the intelligent readers with the observations and experiences of author. Author has used the astrology for the purpose of diagnosis as other laboratory tests, MRI and CAT SCAN etc. It gave good results to understand whether the chronic diseases are curable or not. Moreover it has helped to understand the time period of onset of the disease which no other science can explain. Therefore astrology is science of sciences. One must be careful while predicting diseases because so many factors are involved in prediction. Only the yoga for disease is not sufficient. If the yoga is aspected by benefic planets, the results will be nullification of malefic influence. The disease depends on the strength of the disease producing planets. Even if a disease may be indicated from a house from lagna but from Moon and navamsha lagna the same house is strong and lord is fortified, the malefic influence may get cancelled. Therefore while judging one must consider the house, lord of house and karaka of the house, rashish where the lord of house is posited i.e. dispositor, and navamshesh, the lord of house in navamsha chart where the lord of the house is posited, and relationship in navamsha chart between lagna lord and lord of the house into consideration from lagna, Moon, navamsha lagna and nakshatra of the planet in which he is posited. One must take into consideration the nature and qualities of the planets causing the disease; functional benefic or malefic to the lagna house in which they are posited. The benefic planet will certainly cause less harm than the malefic planet. The relationship between the two planets also affects the disease producing capacity. The relationship is also natural and functional. The aspect and conjunction of the planets should also be taken into consideration. The retrograde malefic planet is more powerful in causing diseases than the normal malefic planet. The retrograde benefic planet does not protect the native. When a benefic planet is lord of maraka house and posited in that house, it becomes strong maraka planet. Keeping the above factors into consideration we can predict the timing of onset of diseases with the help of dasha system and Gochar. The most common dasha system employed is Vimshottari dasha system. Still we can divided the timing of diseases into: 1.Yogas present in the horoscope 2. Dasha/bhukti/Paratyantar dasha 3. Transit (Gochar) 4. Horary All these factors have been discussed in this book in detail.

Learn about solar returns for relationships, jobs, financial success, children, relocation, education, honors, medical issues, as well as death. Dr. Lehman takes you through the method, the application, and the kinds of issues raised by this method.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In my years of practice as a physician, I have, by the use of Astrology, been able to very quickly locate the seat of the disease, the cause of the trouble, the time when the patient began to feel uncomfortable, as based on the birth data of the patient, and this without even touching or examining the patient, and my intense desire to get this knowledge and wisdom before students and Healers in a classified form, is the reason for this Encyclopaedia. . . . When once you have discovered the cause of the disease, and understand its philosophy and the relation of the patient to the great Scheme of Nature, the matter of treatment I leave to you, and according to the System and Methods you may be using." (pg. 502) This is not only the best book ever written on medical astrology, it is also the best medieval medical reference ever put in print. This book excels in diagnosis, in other words, if the symptom is X, then the astrological cause is Y. Which becomes the key to reading the patient's chart, or his decumbiture. Cornell writes in traditional language. The same language, in fact, as you will find in Culpeper, Saunders, Lilly, Blagrave and many others. This book is the key that will open these and many more. Howard Leslie Cornell, M.D., (1872-1938) was a naturopathic physician with a practice in the US and India. In 1918 he set about to compile the medical references in his many astrology books. As he himself wrote, it became a momentous task, eventually comprising two large ledgers. These were then arranged, classified, disentangled and wrote into readable form. Only at that point did he consider making a proper book of it, and set about retyping and rearranging yet again. The result of 15 years work was published in 1933. It has been in print, off and on, ever since. It remains the one indispensable medical astrology book. The Encyclopaedia of Medical Astrology repays close study. A page-by-page reading is most rewarding.
