Book excerpt: In April 23, 1992, I golfed in a Jesuit tournament near Morristown, New Jersey with my neighbor Sam Hughes. This photo was taken by Father Don, showing me (in the white shirt with the wide blue stripe) looking at the prize table. The lady in white, next to me, did not golf in the tournament. As a matter of fact, she was not even there, she was dead. She had not been on the photo, when I first got it. I had kept the photo on my computer desk. One day, glancing at it, I saw her face on the picture. She was a family friend, but I never knew she had died. When I wondered why she was on the photo, I found out that she died three months after Ellie, so there is a connection. But who would believe me? I kept the photo, waiting for the right moment. And this is it. At one time there was a radio show "Believe It Or Not." This photo falls into that category. So, believe it or not--this is a photo of a dead person looking at a table of prizes. Another strange but true story. One Saturday morning as I approached church for the eight o'clock mass, I saw a priest wearing his white Roman Collar and dark dress suit leave the church by the heavy front doors. Thirty or forty second later, when I entered the church proper, I saw the same priest leave the sacristy to say the eight o'clock mass. So, I saw someone in two different places at the same time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our postmodern, experience-oriented culture, people are longing for greater authenticity, integrity, and depth in their pastors and leaders. Board directors, church members, and staff alike are all eagerly seeking leaders who effectively integrate their spirituality and leadership. Pastors and executives, however, often struggle with knowing how to integrate their spiritual values and practices into their leadership and management roles. Designed for pastors, executives, administrators, managers, coordinators, and all who see themselves as leaders and who want to fulfill their God-given purpose, The Spirit-Led Leader addresses the critical fusion of spiritual life and leadership for those who not only want to see results, but who also desire to care just as deeply about who they are and how they lead as they do about what they produce and accomplish. Geoffrion creates a new vision for spiritual leadership as partly an art, partly a result of careful planning, and always a working of the grace of God

Book excerpt: What do the words "Holy Spirit" conjure up for you? Is it excitement at the experience you claim God has given you, or are you mystified by such claims? Is the Holy Spirit a positive presence in your life or simply a background force that energizes God's actions in the world? The title of this book, Gone with the Spirit, reflects usage in the Old and New Testament languages of the same word for wind and spirit. But what does the title suggest to you? Does it imply those lost in wonder at the Spirit's friendly foray into their lives, or some who have apparently taken leave of their spiritual senses? Gone with the Spirit attempts to provide an overview of the contentious and poorly understood person and work of the Holy Spirit for those who have some desire and aptitude for study.

Do you want to be used by God in a more powerful way? If so, WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT MOVES is written for you. Examine what the Scriptures say about being filled with the Holy Spirit and the gifts He gives believers. WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT MOVES will help you to answer questions such as: • Is the Holy Spirit the same Spirit who was poured out at Pentecost? • Is the Bible still true in our time, or are we so blinded by materialism and intellectualism that we are no longer open to the powerful ministry of the Holy Spirit? • Is the same power of the Holy Spirit available in the modern times in which we live? • Is the Holy Spirit of Pentecost still the same Spirit who can and wants to work in our hearts and lives in our day and age? • Can we expect the Holy Spirit, who worked through simple and uneducated “fishermen”, to perform powerful miracles and give miraculous signs in society today? Learn how the Holy Spirit can operate in a new way in your life, bringing spiritual growth and revival to you as well as to the greater Body of Christ. At the end of each chapter are questions for personal Bible study or group discussion.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work examines the development of a "dissenting" perspective on the emerging doctrine of the Holy Spirit in Post-Reformation Protestant thought. By "dissenting," the author means "beyond the mainstream of thought, sometimes affirming but expanding orthodox positions, but at other times pursuing new directions and images of the Spirit." A new look is offered at the Puritan-Separatist era in English dissenting traditions, as well as organized dissenters in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Of particular interest are the applications of current philosophic and scientific writers. There are sections on major German thinkers of the nineteenth century and major influential theologians of the last century who laid new foundations in the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Readers will be interested in the inclusion of new religious movements in two eras, and creative contemporary ideas of the Spirit. How an ongoing "dissenting" perspective contrasts with mainstream thinking is woven through four centuries of literature on the Spirit. The author contends that we have learned much from the "dissenting" perspective, and he offers seven constructive affirmations of the Spirit of God drawn from his survey and analyses of the previous four centuries. The bibliography is comprehensive of major works on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, plus unusual sources of dissenting thought.
