This book was released on 1999 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The intent is to develop the users ability to interpret the landforms on any map or aerial photo. Assuming that the user has a basic understanding of topographic maps, aerial photographs, map symbols, contour lines, topographic profiles, and geologic cross-sections, questions are posed to foster a mental process in problem solving. Includes topographic maps that show the contour interval in feet as well as an appendix (Appendix A) of map name, location, scale, and contour interval for each exercise. Geologists, geology students and teachers focusing on Geomorphology.

This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book combines the knowledge and experience of the members of the instructional staff of the Abrams School of Aerial Surveying and Photo Interpretation. Aerial mapping and reconnaissance had become vital by the middle of the second world war, this is an instructional guide compiling all of the knowledge on the subject gathered up to the point. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.

Book Synopsis Operational Test of 70 Mm. Format High Altitude Photography for Mapping by : Richard F. Gettys
Download or read book Operational Test of 70 Mm. Format High Altitude Photography for Mapping written by Richard F. Gettys and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of limited operational tests to determine the potential of high altitude 70 mm. format aerial photography for mapping are presented. The evaluated system consisted of 11/2-in. focal length LA-26 and X70-2 cameras for basic vertical coverage, 3-1in. focal length LA-27 cameras for split vertical supplemental coverage, the X-PAX-1 multiplex reduction printer, and a wide-angle multiplex plotter. An F8U-1P aircraft was used, flying at an altitude of 42,000 ft. above sea leval. A topographic map was compiled by multiplex from two stereo models which partially covered the test area. The horizontal and vertical positions of 94 geodetic control points, and the elevations of 26 additional bench marks were also recorded on the compilation manuscript. The values established by multiplex were compared with the corresponding values as listed by the Army Map Service. A 75-mile multiplex cantilever control extension consisting of 15 stereo models was performed. Horizontal adjustment was made by electronic computer; and vertical adjustment by graphical techniques. The adjusted valves were compared with the scale horizontal coordinates and elevations obtained directly or interpolated from AMS 1:25,000 scale maps. (Author).

Book Synopsis Mapping the Land by : James B. Campbell
Download or read book Mapping the Land written by James B. Campbell and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intended for geography students who are enrolled in, or who have completed, an introductory course in remote sensing; for geography researchers; and for professors; this publication focuses specifically on those general issues regarding the organization and presentation of land use information derived from aerial imagery. Many of the ideas presented were developed in teaching geography to university undergraduates. There are seven chapters. In chapter 1, the practical significance of land use information is illustrated and modern land use surveys are discussed. Chapter 2 discusses concepts and definitions of land use, the applications of remote sensing, and the advantages and disadvantages of aerial imagery. Historical examples of land use inventory are provided in the third chapter. Chapter 4 examines principles and conventions for preparing land use maps. Manual interpretation for land use mapping is the focus of the fifth chapter. Chapters 6 and 7 deal with the machine processing of remotely sensed data and accuracy assessment, respectively. (RM)
