Book excerpt: The Book of Genesis invites us to take a peek into the very astounding process of creation. God planted the seed of existence in order to reap a harvest that He named water, sky, earth, and more. Unhesitatingly, God used three little words: "Let there be . . ." and, just like that, it was! No magician or witch has the ability to produce such results, only God. In Genesis 1:26, God said "Let Us make human beings in our image and likeness, and let them rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the tame animals, over all the earth, and over all the small crawling animals." Possessions are essentially for use on the Earth; there is no genuine comfort within them. The Holy Spirit was sent to comfort God's people, in every area of their lives, especially during this historic recession. However, life does not exist in the abundance of things you possess, but the Jesus that is in you. Real life with regard to seedtime and harvest can manifest itself with the influence of Christ on a believer's spirit, soul, and body. Every person has been given a special gift or talent by God with the potential to bring him wealth. We've all got to remember that God will take care of us in the midst of what is going on in the world today. We may be in a recession, but participating in it is our decision. God always has an abundant supply of whatever you need. Pray to Him, talk to Him, and spend time with Him. Then sit back, relax, and expect Him to do what He has promised in His Word. Normally, "church folks" look at seedtime as always being about money or finance. But, just like God did, we have the ability to plant seeds of wisdom, good deeds, love and kindness toward one another. All these seeds will be returned back to us in a harvest of new members in the Body of Christ. Genesis 1:27-28 explains God's creation of man and woman, and His exhortation that they be fruitful and fill the earth. Bishop Gaston clarifies the sowing and reaping process, applying its tenets to our lives today and bringing it home to our personal struggles in these hard times. He provides us with organized thinking about the many levels of meaning in the terms seedtime and harvest, leading us step by step from problem to solution. Its readability will lead you to enjoy Harvest Time: Reaping a Bountiful Life, but your "take away" will be its individualized outlines for each aspect of sowing and reaping. Follow the steps enumerated by Bishop Gaston, and reap your bountiful life in God! Brenda Husband, Evangelist City of Refuge, Church of God in Christ Oakland, California

Book excerpt: As food prices continue to rise, more and more people have discovered that they can create their own food supply, right on their own property, and at a fraction of the price of conventional farm food that's been shipped to their local grocery from locations unknown. By raising and harvesting their own fruits, vegetables, chickens, bees, milk-bearing animals, and more, people are growing locally, sustainably, and at a fraction of the cost. However, poor planning for needs, proper use of available space, and a lack of preparedness for preserving or selling the harvest can quickly lead to wasted time and sweat. Backyard Farming on an Acre (More or Less) is written by people who have planned and run a successful small-scale backyard farm. The authors guide readers through the essentials of planning a small-scale farm from a 1/4 acre all the way up to an acre and beyond. Readers will learn how to decide how large (or small) their farm should be, what they should plant or raise based on their invidual wants and needs (and available space), and how they can prevent their efforts from being wasted. Proven, sustainabile techniques will be presented to readers so they can yield the maximum benefit of their harvest through proven best practices. Readers will also learn how to raise small animals such as chickens and goats for milk, eggs, and meat, and will learn the crticial practices for successfully parenting bees, growing fruit tress, and much more.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to maximize your harvest from every seed you plant - even though you have struggled with the kingdom process for a very long time! Dry spells? Failures in faith? Struggles with difficult times? You may ask yourself, "Why me?" But the real question is, "Who hasn't?" You don't have a monopoly on pressure. You're not alone. Everyone has experienced their fair share of trials in the faith process. But imagine yourself on the other side of the hard place. Imagine yourself in possession of the very thing you've dreamed of. Don't you think you also can experience the taste of victory? It is a given fact that trials will always come to those who have a dream of success. Everyone who ever achieved God's best for them went through the kingdom process. The difference between those who reaped their harvest and those who didn't is their understanding of the steps from seed to harvest. This book will show you time tested steps to take as you move from a position of lack to the place of fulfillment. Why should you trust me as your guide? Like you, I have struggled through everyday challenges that made me doubt God and my ability to achieve anything in life. Inside, you will see how I dealt with rejection and other curved balls that we typically face in life. Also, I am committed to ministering to young people and have been in this ministry for the past 7 years. I have helped people through trying times being a shoulder to lean on, sharing in their tears and rejoicing when they reap their harvest. In all these years I have come to one conclusion: while no two people's trials are similar, the principles to get you to your harvest are the same. In this book you'll learn: how to recognize your seed in any given situation; the process of sowing your seed; how the seed changes you and the environment as you move closer to your harvest; how to deal with the little foxes that spoil the vine; how to remain joyful as the pressure to give up mounts against you; how to put in the sickle to reap your bountiful harvest; Bonus: Bringing it Home sections at the end of every chapter that summarize the key learning points as you move to the next chapter; Bonus: Confessions at the end of every chapter to help you implant in your heart the vital truths that would lead to your harvest. Book excerpt: A tour de force of life on a journey with Jesus. By all means, take this journey if you can.—Chuck Colson, Founder, Prison Fellowship With our society’s sometimes unfavorable view of Christians, it is all the more important that believers display what Dr. David Jeremiah calls signs of life — signs that Jesus has transformed us and that we are committed to Him and His kingdom. They are signs that ought to be detected from across the street, over the fence, down the hall, throughout the office, or in the pews, for it’s not enough to just talk about Jesus. It’s also not enough to serve Him in secret with our acts of private devotion. We have to display the lifestyle of the Nazarene in the midst of a corrupt and darkened culture. In a world starved for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, honesty, relevance, and compassion, Christians should specialize in exactly those things through public expressions of private faith. It’s by our smile, our compassion in the face of misfortune, our friendliness, our simple lifestyle, our willingness to commit random acts of kindness, our social ministries, our tears, and our words that unbelievers recognize Who we represent. Signs of Life will lead you on a journey to a fuller understanding of the marks that identify you as a Christian. Signs that will advertise your faith. Personal imprints that can impact souls for eternity and help you become a person of influence who radiates relevancy, authenticity, generosity, and compassion every day — just like Jesus did.

Schaeffer wrestles with faith and disbelief, sharing his innermost thoughts. He writes as an imperfect son, husband and grandfather whose love for his family, art and life trumps the ugly theologies of an angry God and the atheist vision of a cold, meaningless universe.
