Download or read book Made for This written by Mary Haseltine and published by Our Sunday Visitor. This book was released on 2018-03-07 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Millions of women have felt the power of birth, and countless women long for it. But for too many, birth can seem like a purely clinical experience — something to get through as quickly as possible in order to get on with the joys of being a mother. In Made for This, author Mary Haseltine draws on Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body to show that birth is an essential part of who God created women to be, body and soul. With real-life stories from many moms and practical tips — including preparing for birth, making informed choices, helping fathers embrace their role in the birth room, and encountering the work of labor — this book is an indispensable guide for navigating the physical and spiritual dimensions of pregnancy and birth. Expectant mothers will find the tools they need to approach birth as a gift, and to invite God into the experience. About the Author Mary Haseltine is a theology graduate and a certified birth doula and childbirth educator. With a passion for building a culture of life through the teachings of the Theology of the Body, she works to bring an awareness and practice of the teachings of the Church into the realm of childbirth, mothering, and pregnancy loss. She lives in Western New York with her husband and five sons. You can find more of her writing at www.betterthaneden.com.

Book Synopsis Lord Teach Us To Labor In Prayer by : Patricia Lott
Download or read book Lord Teach Us To Labor In Prayer written by Patricia Lott and published by . This book was released on 2023-08-18 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prayer is a vital part of our relationship with God and a powerful tool to advance His kingdom. However, not all prayers are the same. Some prayers require more intensity, focus, and strategy than others. These are the prayers that we call laboring in prayer. In this book, I will teach how to labor in prayer effectively and strategically, following the examples of biblical heroes who prayed with authority and fervor. David was a man after God's own heart who knew how to pray strategically. He faced many enemies and challenges in his life, but he always trusted God and sought His guidance. He also had a well-planned attack when he faced Goliath, the giant who defied the armies of Israel. He used his sling and a stone to hit Goliath's weak spot and bring him down. I will show you how we can pray strategically like David, using God's word as our weapon and targeting the enemy's vulnerabilities. Epaphras was a faithful servant of God who planted the church in Colossae and later joined Paul in prison. He prayed earnestly for the Colossian church, especially that they may stand perfect and complete in God's will. He also wrestled in prayer for them, indicating a strong opposition from the enemy. He was not just praying casually or routinely, but fervently and passionately. We too can pray fervently like Epaphras, using God's will as our goal and overcoming the enemy's resistance. When we labor in prayer, we are not just praying randomly or blindly. We are praying intelligently, with divine insight and direction from God. We are also praying with skill and precision, like a skilled player who can catch or block the enemy's missiles before they reach their targets. We are not ignorant of the enemy's schemes, but we are aware and alert to his attacks. We are also not afraid or intimidated by his threats, but we are confident and courageous in God's power. We can pray intelligently like a skilled player, using God's wisdom as our guide and His power as our strength. I am delighted that you have chosen to embark on this wonderful journey with me, as we explore this next level of prayer together. It is a glorious adventure for those who are seasoned in prayer or eager to grow in it. I believe that as we learn to labor in prayer effectively and strategically, we will see amazing results in our lives and in the lives of others. We will also experience more intimacy with God and more joy in His presence.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do some people pray in agreement with Gods will, heart and timing, yet the desired answers do not come? Why would God not respond when we pray from the earnestness of our hearts? What is the problem, or better yet, what is the solution? Robert Henderson believes the answer is found in where your prayer actually takes place. We must direct our prayer towards the Courts of Heaven and not only the battlefield. Robert shows that it is in the courtrooms of Heaven where our breakthroughs can be found. When you learn to operate there you will see your answers unlocked and released. This book will teach you the legal processes of Heaven and how to operate in its courts. When you get off the battlefield and into the courtroom you can grant God the legal clearance to fulfill His passion and answer your prayers.

Book Synopsis Pray, Like a Woman in Labor by : Raynna Myers
Download or read book Pray, Like a Woman in Labor written by Raynna Myers and published by Blurb. This book was released on 2017-06-09 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A written collection of prayers seeking wisdom and vision to be faithful in the work of serving and living an awake, set apart life. It is a written and photographic journey, based on the prayer Jesus taught his disciples with space each day for personal journaling. As a mom to six the author wrote this short but practical book from the trenches--with mothers in mind, and the intention that it will be a source of strength and tool for anyone who nurtures and leads in varied positions in life, physical and spiritual mothers alike. Said to be an immediate and enduring book on the nightstand returned to for strength and courage often. This book is a real, honest, and vulnerable companion to the immense and valuable work of motherhood. In the quiet (and not so quiet), deep places in us call out to the deep of God. We often call it anxiety or fear, but it is miracle too. A miracle of labor and birth, of spirit and truth. He invites us into this work with Him. Like a woman in labor whose pain is not pointless, our pain is an invitation that beckons us to experience the very presence of God. We were created for this communion. The difference between the Kindle version and printed book is the space after each day's prayer for personal journaling in the printed book, so you can make it your own. It's time to relax.

Book Synopsis Rage Against the Minivan by : Kristen Howerton
Download or read book Rage Against the Minivan written by Kristen Howerton and published by Convergent Books. This book was released on 2020-06-09 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Howerton writes unflinchingly about what it means to be raising children in today’s world and how to liberate ourselves from the myth of perfect motherhood.”—Glennon Doyle, author of Untamed and Love Warrior, founder of Together Rising In this smart and subversively funny memoir, Kristen Howerton navigates the emotional and sometimes messy waters of motherhood and challenges the idea that there’s a “right” way to raise kids. Recounting her successes, trials, mishaps, and hard-won wisdom, this mother of four advocates for letting go of the expectations, the guilt, and the endless race to be the perfect parent to the perfect child in the perfect family. This book is for ● the parent who loves their kids like crazy but feels like parenting is making them crazy, too ● the parent who said “I will never . . .” and now they have ● the parent who looks like they have it all together but feels like a hot mess on the inside ● the parent who looks like a hot mess on the outside, too ● the parent who asks Am I good enough? Doing enough? Doing it right? What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with these children? Are they eighteen yet? With her signature blend of vulnerability, sarcasm, and insight, Howerton shares her unexpected journey from infertility to adoption to pregnancy to divorce to dealing with the shock and awe of raising teens. As a mom of a multiracial family and as a marriage and family therapist, she tackles the thorny issues parents face today, like hard conversations about racism, disciplining other people’s kids, the reality of Dad Privilege, and (never) attaining that elusive work/life balance. Rage Against the Minivan is a permission slip to let it go and allow yourself to be a “good enough” parent, focused on raising happy, kind, loving humans.
