Download or read book Beyond Tithing written by Stuart Murray and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2011-12-19 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Tithing is biblical but not Christian." So asserts Dr. Stuart Murray in this radical examination of the contemporary practice of tithing in which the author comes to some surprising conclusions. Stuart Murray clearly explains tithing in the Old Testament and in Christian history, but then probes further, asking penetrating questions such as: "Is tithing Christian?" "Did Jesus tithe?" "Does tithing function as a regressive tax, burdening the poor while the rich get richer?" "Does tithing lead to a legalistic approach that alienates us from Jesus?" The author suspects that a lot of the current lack of interest in the church stems from deep-seated memories of the church as oppressive, uncreative, and money-grabbing. In response we should therefore learn not to calculate percentages but explore creative ways of developing communities of justice and generosity that are good news to the poor. Beyond Tithing will stimulate your thinking and challenge the dominant influence of the practice of tithing as the model for Christian stewardship.

Book excerpt: DO CHRISTIANS HAVE TO TITHE? Many Christians who tithe are surprised to find out that: - Jesus, Peter and Paul could not receive tithes; - Income and money were never tithed; - The early Christians did not tithe.THERE IS NO SCRIPTURAL BASIS FOR CHRISTIAN TITHINGGod was specific on WHAT the tithe was, WHO was to pay it and receive it, WHEN they received it, WHERE they received it and HOW much they received. Christian tithing represents a complete reversal of God's position concerning the WHAT, WHO, WHEN, WHERE and HOW. THIS IS GOOD NEWS NOT FAKE NEWSONE % Tithe answers critical questions about tithing and challenges the belief that Christians must tithe. In this easy to read book, you will find out: - The what, who, when, where and how of tithing; - Why churches cannot demand that you give 10%;- Why non-tithing Christians are not cursed;- Why tithing money is not biblical. After reading ONE% Tithe you will understand how tithing differs from God's plan for Christian giving. If you yearn to be free to give as led by God and not be 'forced' to give to a ministry, this book is for you.

Book Synopsis New Testament Tithing and the Parable of its Validity by : Robert Bellani
Download or read book New Testament Tithing and the Parable of its Validity written by Robert Bellani and published by Illumina Publications. This book was released on 2013-05-01 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This booklet sets out to quickly demonstrate the complexity of tithing and why it should not be appropriated in the church. It reaches into the ancient customs and practices, the Mosaic Law, Malachi and The New Testament. I find it alarming, that certain ministry has successfully introduced an unscriptural and summarised version into the church. The teaching of tithing finds no place in the New Covenant. I hear a familiar sound; the pump priming for collection time. Not a collection for the saints, but a collection from the saints. A spiel of the blessings one would receive as a result from paying your ministers to hear the Word of God. This commandment is called tithing. Tithing is leaving many confused and scratching for funds to avoid condemnation. I rarely notice joy at this time but rather the forced grin of obedience. The Pentecostal tithing teaching holds strong ties with the Old Covenant way of life. Materialistic gain being the proof of our favour with God. Does this hold true to New Covenant living? I am surprised that tithing is still accepted by many churches all over the world. It is regarded by many as an infallible biblical truth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tithing, Giving and the New Testament sets out to examine tithing from the New Covenant's perspective and without preconceived ideas. It starts examining tithing in the Old Testament. Then explores what the New Testament says about giving. Were the Christians in the 1st century churches, the churches we find in the New Testament, tithing? How did they apply giving? To whom did they give, how much and based on which principle? If they had a "budget," what would the items in this budget look like? Inevitably, it compares their practices with our practices. There is much that can be learn about this topic from the Word of God and the purpose of this book is to bring it to light for the benefit and the enlightenment of the readers. Anastasios Kioulachoglou is a business consultant and lay teacher in the body of Christ. He is a native Greek speaker. In his spare time he works on his Bible teaching, online magazine "The Journal of Biblical Accuracy" (www.jba.gr).

Book Synopsis The Great Tithing Scam by : A. Bruce Wells
Download or read book The Great Tithing Scam written by A. Bruce Wells and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2006-07 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some have said that the word scam is too strong for a book that argues against the church's most sacred cow, but scam is exactly the right word because tithing has been put forth as a duty that will earn that which Christ suffered and died to freely give us. Not only is it wrong to suggest that tithing will do what Christ died to do, such as open heaven or make one right with God, but such teaching is an insult to His sacrifice and in reality, an enemy to the Cross even as circumcision was in the early church. Our ministers have been naively leading the church back under the Old Testament Law, and its curse, with imagined tithing promises that have gone way beyond even that which Malachi promised. Under the guise of obedience, faithfulness and stewardship, we've been duped into believing we must prove ourselves without realizing that practicing the Law (tithing) blocks us from becoming sons and heirs according to Galatians 4: 5. Do you know that The book of Malachi was never intended to be instruction to the New Testament church? All the ordinances in Malachi (including tithing) were nailed to Jesus' cross, according to Colossians chapter 2? Tithing is part of the Law according to Matt. 23: 23, Malachi 3: 7, and Hebrews 7: 18? The practice of tithing, the Law, can expose you to the curse of the Law causing incurable sicknesses, debt, death, and many other problems, according to the Apostle Paul in Galatians 3: 10? The practice of tithing actually removes you from the state of grace and places you back the category of sinner? Hebrews 5: 4 Tithing causes you to frustrate the grace of God, and causes Christ to profit you nothing? Galatians 2: 21 and 5: 2 Making tithing a practicetoday actually causes the New Testament to become another gospel according to Paul in Galatians 1: 6? Order The Great Tithing Scam today and find out what else tithing will or won't do.
