Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intellectual turmoil and spiritual yearning for many years. What about disserting for Holy Spirit? The divine power of God has given us freedom to choose Christ or the devil, but Gods will remains absolute and always comes first. In Gods divine providence, our prayers are answered while his will remains intact, but because of his constant love, he can release the grace to guide us in all matters. After researching and examining the reality of parents bringing up leadership, I wish to share cogent information that there is a critical mass of parents trapped in ignorance, lacking vision and loving leadership. Hence, the youth are reliant on parents who may be destroying and breaking their hearts. And yet, the parents hearts are bleeding as the drugs, cheap beer, consumption, and carefree, mass-commercialized sex practices take the toll on youths lives. There is a dire desperation, and the parents are turning in the drugs, commercial sex, and booking for money at whatever costeven involving evil rituals, building partnership with the fallen angels, and baying for blood to meet the set targets. The problems are insurmountable, since everything is shrouded by secrecy and a husband can buy several cars for a wife who lives to flatter life but does not know what is in store for her. The evil prosperity is spreading very quickly as the brutal spirit of competition takes root, and this is fueled by the powerful images of power, wealth, fame, love, and beauty found everywhere on the internet, in advertising, on TV shows, and in print and electronic media.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The former editor in chief of the acclaimed magazine Christianity Today offers a compelling look at the state of evangelicalism and hope for the future. In arguably one of the most divisive and polarizing eras, evangelicals are faced with a profound crisis of confidence. It is a crisis that has many dimensions―political, biblical, and theological―as well as a crisis of spiritual formation and discipleship. What ultimately is at the root of this crisis? Mark Galli encourages us to turn our attention away from the politics of the moment, the social issues being discussed online, and the debate du jour among Christians. He asks us instead to take a long and hard look at what’s missing in our spirituality. In an incisive and thought-provoking book, Mark Galli helps us slow down and spend time reflecting on our ultimate priority. A must-read for anyone interested in contemplating the future of the church.

Book excerpt: We all encounter times when our spirit feels dry, when doubt looms. The opportunity to tour Israel came at a good time. For months, my life has been a mindless plodding through necessary routine, as monotonous as an all-night shift on an assembly line. Life gets that way sometimes, when nothing specific is wrong but the world around us seems drained of color. Even my weekly worship experiences and daily quiet times with God have felt as dry and stale as last year's crackers. I'm ashamed to confess the malaise I've felt. I have been given so much. Shouldn't a Christian's life be an abundant one, as exciting as Christmas morning, as joyful as Easter Sunday? With gripping honesty, Lynn Austin pens her struggles with spiritual dryness in a season of loss and unwanted change. Tracing her travels throughout Israel, Austin seamlessly weaves events and insights from the Word . . . and in doing so finds a renewed passion for prayer and encouragement for her spirit, now full of life and hope.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you’re looking to learn how to get the most out of prayer, this book is indispensable. As St. Augustine notes, When we pray, we speak to God; when we read Scripture, God speaks to us. The key to enriching our prayer is learning the language of Christianity, and the most effective way to learn the language of Christianity is an ancient technique known as lectio divina (“divine reading”). In these pages, you will learn: ● How God speaks directly to each of us in Scripture. ● How to overcome the obstacles to a consistent and fruitful prayer life. ● Why the fourfold method of lectio divina leads us directly into the heart of contemplative prayer. ● Strategies for reading - and praying - the Bible fruitfully. ● What Christian meditation is and how it differs from non-Christian approaches. ● How everyone - not just saints and mystics - can truly reach mystical union with God. In this succinct book, Catholic theologian and biblical scholar Dr. Tim Gray walks you through the Bible and the wisdom of the saints to reveal the practical steps of this great treasure of our Tradition. Learning the simple steps of lectio divina will provide a practical and effective way for you to enhance your prayer life through the power of God’s Word.

Book excerpt: Christians know that God loves them, but can easily feel that he is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. As a result, they focus a lot—and rightly so—on what Jesus has done to appease God’s wrath for sin. But how does Jesus Christ actually feel about his people amid all their sins and failures? This book draws us to Matthew 11, where Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart,” longing for his people to find rest in him. The gospel flows from God’s deepest heart for his people, a heart of tender love for the sinful and suffering. These chapters take readers into the depths of Christ’s very heart for sinners, diving deep into Bible passages that speak of who Christ is and encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people. His longing heart for sinners comforts and sustains readers in their up-and-down lives.

Josh Johnson was one of these people. In Broken and Blessed he tackles the harsh realities facing the Church in the 21st century. Using his own experiences, both as a former struggling young Catholic and as a priest, Fr. Josh offers an inspiring witness of how he came to know God, rather than just knowing about him—and presents practical ways for us to truly know God as well. Book excerpt: God’s Spirit once took the prophet Ezekiel to a vast valley filled with brittle, parched-dry bones—a potent picture of widespread spiritual dryness. But by the Word of God proclaimed through Ezekiel’s mouth, those piles of bones took on sinew and flesh and skin, then were infused with life-giving, wind-driven breath from the Spirit of God. A sweeping vista of skeletons was turned instead into a force of fired-up warriors ready to do battle for the Lord. A transformation just as dramatic is what God wants to generate in our individual lives today and in the life of His church. Dry Bones Dancing is about escaping religious dryness to move on to true spiritual passion. The results will be an experience of supernatural power and peace in the presence of God as you are invited to go deeper and see God’s character and glory as never before. Broken . . . Whole Parched . . . Flourishing Dry Bones . . . Dancing Is the landscape of your spirit all too desert-like? Then it’s time for a change. It’s time for a miracle. And God is ready to give it to you. Author and speaker Dr. Tony Evans boldly declares the truth: God’s people are not meant to dwell in a lifeless valley. But if we are to embrace pure joy and rich passion once again, God requires a humble heart. Evans shows desert-dwellers how to pinpoint what brought them there in the first place—and how to get out. Experience spiritual nourishment and vitality once again. And get ready… …to dance! Story Behind the Book After many years of ministering to Christians burned out by religion and spiritually dry, Tony Evans searched the Scriptures for answers to share with everyone who is seeking to rekindle their passion for God. He found the perfect passage in Ezekiel. Through his study of the story, he bolstered his own spiritual passion, and now he shares it with those seeking to be rebuilt and reenergized by and for God.

Book excerpt: This new edition by popular Jesuit spiritual director Thomas Green, S.J., synthesizes the spiritual counsel of classic Christian writers for a new generation thirsty for God. With almost 200,000 copies in print in twelve languages, When the Well Runs Dry builds on Green's classic and best-selling primer on prayer, Opening to God. In this proven and popular roadmap for those digging deeper into the mystery of prayer, he skillfully coaxes readers to re-examine their perspectives on prayer. Prayer, he teaches, has less to do with what they do or know, and more to do with what God does in them.
