Book Synopsis The Nordic Languages by : Oskar Bandle
Download or read book The Nordic Languages written by Oskar Bandle and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2002 with total page 1086 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The handbook is not tied to a particular methodology but keeps in principle to a pronounced methodological pluralism, encompassing all aspects of actual methodology. Moreover it combines diachronic with synchronic-systematic aspects, longitudinal sections with cross-sections (periods such as Old Norse, transition from Old Norse to Early Modern Nordic, Early Modern Nordic 1550-1800 and so on). The description of Nordic language history is built upon a comprehensive collection of linguistic data; it consists of more than 200 articles written by a multitude of authors from Scandinavian and German and English speaking countries. The organization of the book combines a central part on the detailed chronological developments and some chapters of a more general character: chapters on theory and methodology in the beginning and on overlapping spatio-temporal topics in the end.

Book Synopsis Analysis of Dis/agreement - with particular reference to Law and Legal Theory by : S. Eng
Download or read book Analysis of Dis/agreement - with particular reference to Law and Legal Theory written by S. Eng and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to determine whether two participants in a discussion are in real dis/agreement, one must compare their propositions. Comparison presupposes yardsticks in common. This work thematises such yardsticks, in that it demonstrates the existence, content and factual significance of a relatively well-delimited set of proposition types and proposition patterns, with their accompanying tenability criteria and motivating interests. It is for philosophers, legal theorists, lawyers, and linguists.
Download or read book On Law and Justice written by Alf Ross and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2019-11-20 with total page 567 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On Law and Justice by Alf Ross (1899-1979) is a classic work of twentieth-century legal philosophy. The first translation into English was notably poor and abridged, and it misrepresented Ross's views. Translated from scratch and in full length from the original Danish, this new critical edition casts light on Ross's work and resituates it firmly in the context of current debates in the field. Ross was, in H.L.A. Hart's words, 'the most acute and best-equipped philosopher' of Scandinavian legal realism. On Law and Justice provides a comprehensive outline of his legal realist position, offering a consistently empirical research programme that simultaneously recognizes the distinctly normative character of law. Ross's legal realism avoids the standard critiques against behaviourist reductionism while still remaining categorically distinct from legal positivism and natural law.
Book Synopsis Property Aspects of Intellectual Property by : Ole-Andreas Rognstad
Download or read book Property Aspects of Intellectual Property written by Ole-Andreas Rognstad and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2018-07-05 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many years, there have been discussions about whether intellectual property (IP) is really property. The property concept, particularly when used in transnational and international concepts, remains somewhat elusive. Here, Ole-Andreas Rognstad comprehensively discusses the use of the property metaphor in relation to IP in a transnational perspective. Rognstad gives an overview of main aspects of the IP/property interface, notably the justification and the structuring of the rights and intellectual property rights as assets. Moreover, he highlights the importance of distinguishing between these aspects, even though they are closely linked to each other. The book takes a transnational approach, dealing with recent developments in European human/fundamental rights law and international investment law, helping readers to understand the practical implications of the IP/property interface. This will be valuable reading for academics, practitioners and policy makers working in the area of IP, and lawyers and philosophers interested in the property debate.
