Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nazareth has been cruel to my mother, more cruel than any village ever was. All the village says that my blood father is not the man who married my mother. They have shamed her on the matter all my life. Every woman asks which man of the village is my blood father. Every man scowls and says he was not the one my mother seduced. My mother will not tell who is my blood father. My mother will not speak on the matter. My mother bears her shame in silence. Some righteous man, a prophet, said a word over me when I was a babe in arms. He told how I will redeem Israel when I grow to be a man. Now I have grown to be a man, but I do not know how to redeem Israel. The scriptures do not explain the matter. My people say that the man who redeems Israel must take up the sword and throw off our enemy, Rome, which we call the Great Satan. My family says I must take up the sword. Only I am no man of the sword. I wish with all my heart to redeem Israel, but HaShem, the God of our fathers, must tell me how. Lately, there came a new prophet to Israel, who immerses for repentance at the river Jordan. I went to ask the prophet how I should redeem Israel. He said I am to smite the four Powers. I asked what are the four Powers. He could not say, but he said HaShem will reveal the matter to me. I wish HaShem will reveal the matter, only I am not a prophet. Not yet. But I will be. Here is what I know. Every hour of every day, I feel the Presence of HaShem. I do not know why I should feel the Presence always. My mother does not. My village does not. Even the prophet of HaShem does not. I think the Presence will teach me the way to redeem Israel. But I am afraid to redeem Israel. To redeem Israel is to leave my mother to the scorn of the village. The rage of the village. My mother begs and cries on me to make a justice for her. To make a justice on the village. I do not know how to make a justice on the village. I do not know how to redeem Israel. But HaShem will show me the way. I will learn how to be a prophet of HaShem. I will learn how to redeem Israel. I will learn how to make a justice for my mother. I will smite the first Power. Or I will die in the trying.

Book Synopsis The Prophet's Pulpit by : Patrick D. Gaffney
Download or read book The Prophet's Pulpit written by Patrick D. Gaffney and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-07-28 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Muslim preaching has been central in forming public opinion, building grassroots organizations, and developing leadership cadres for the wider Islamist agenda. Based on in-depth field research in Egypt, Patrick Gaffney focuses on the preacher and the sermon as the single most important medium for propounding the message of Islam. He draws on social history, political commentary, and theological sources to reveal the subtle connections between religious rhetoric and political dissent. Many of the sermons discussed were given during the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, and Gaffney attempts to describe this militant movement and to compare it with official Islam. Finally, Gaffney presents examples of the sermons, so readers can better understand the full range of contemporary Islamic expression.

This book was released on 2012-01-11 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not about teaching prophecy but is more about preaching God’s prophetic word with boldness and clarity in order to wake up the churches from their slumber. Part of this work is an inspired declaration exercising the gift of prophecy in “prophetic utterance” with a prophet’s cry to his own country the United States. It issues a forewarning and a forearming to God’s people, the Church to be ready as the deliverance for both the Church & Israel the Nation draws nears despite a world full of disbelief in the Lordship of Christ our redeemer. It is a prophet’s personal cry and shout as a watchman who stands at the gates of Israel and sounds the alarm.

Download or read book A Stranger in the House of God written by John Koessler and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-08-30 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing up the son of agnostics, John Koessler saw a Catholic church on one end of the street and a Baptist on the other. In the no-man’s land between the two, this curious outside wondered about the God they worshipped—and began a lifelong search to comprehend the grace and mystery of God. A Stranger in the House of God addresses fundamental questions and struggles faced by spiritual seekers and mature believers. Like a contemporary Pilgrim’s Progress, it traces the author’s journey and explores his experiences with both charismatic and evangelical Christianity. It also describes his transformation from religious outsider to ordained pastor. John Koessler provides a poignant and often humorous window into the interior of the soul as he describes his journey from doubt and struggle with the church to personal faith

Book Synopsis Modern Day Prophet by : Douglas Duncan
Download or read book Modern Day Prophet written by Douglas Duncan and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2011-10 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author is the only person ever declared medically dead to be resurrected by God and sent back with a message for God's people. Taken away from a life in the fast lane while earning fame and riches for all the wrong reasons, the author thought that when the government was done with him he would live the rest of his life comfortably along with all of his ill-gotten gains. That would not be the case because God in His mercy had answered his mother's prayers for her son to be returned to worshipping Jesus. When the government was finished God was just getting started, first stripping him of pride and wealth while teaching the author humility and obedience. Then through revelations, visions, and prophecies followed with signs and wonders, the author learned the truths that have not been taught to the church ever since the last apostle died. This book teaches what God wants you to learn. Overcoming sin, obtaining perfection, and living a holy life are the commandments from Jesus Christ to His church. When these commandments are fulfilled as the apostles fulfilled them, God will work the same signs and wonders through His people today that He did 1900 years ago in the first century apostolic church. Within this book is the knowledge the apostles had that will allow Christians to once again worship in spirit and in truth. Prophecy determined that the forgotten knowledge of the truth would return to the church and once again God would be glorified through His saints when people are healed and the dead are raised alive. Through acquiring the wisdom revealed in this book, you will gain the faith needed for miracles to happen and bring about the revival that will usher in the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
