Book excerpt: This Dynamic World is visually beautiful and full of useful knowledge. The book makes plain what has been obscure. Long before our "New Age" of Aquarius or even the environmental evangelism of "an inconvenient truth," Charles Morgan, 91 year old "Hindu preacher" and "farmer philosopher," revealed the secrets of the last days. For instance, we learn that Levi Dowling brought forth the Akashic Record and Aquarian Gospel of Jesus Christ not in the 1960s, but in the 1860s. Long before the "planned community," "open space," or "green space," Charles Morgan postulated the "city in a building." From the dust bowl to today's "drying of the west," this farmer said we farm too much and honor nature too little. This Dynamic World leads us to prophets from Moses to Edgar Cayce, thinkers from Plato to Confucius, scientists from Einstein to Hawking, and also spiritual masters like Paramahansa Yogananda, the first Hindu yogi in America and his disciple. In this book, we learn from saints like Paul and John on his isle of Patmos as well as from heavenly messengers (called by some angels, by others astral beings). We find God With Us (called by some Messiah, by others avatar). The book is a key to enlightenment on a spiritual level of existence in a planetary community for individual and worldwide salvation where we are all related and must relate to each other. This is the concept of "biorelativity." This Dynamic World calls us on a Worldwide Crusade for Biorelativity. This Dynamic World uses the "fabric of time" as a scientific basis for prophecy and the astral cycle of George King, Jeanne Dixon, and Ruth Montgomery. We embrace "good vibrations," "energy," meditation, and "yoga" but also the Word of God and the philosophies of men in a determination to take blessed action.

Book excerpt: This book is a study of the interactions between different types of systems, their environment, and their subsystems. The author explains how basic systems principles are applied in engineered (mechanical, electromechanical, etc.) systems and then guides the reader to understand how the same principles can be applied to social, political, economic systems, as well as in everyday life. Readers from a variety of disciplines will benefit from the understanding of system behaviors and will be able to apply those principles in various contexts. The book includes many examples covering various types of systems. The treatment of the subject is non-mathematical, and the book considers some of the latest concepts in the systems discipline, such as agent-based systems, optimization, and discrete events and procedures.

Since then, scientists have verified and refined this theory, and now have a much better understanding of how our planet has been shaped by plate-tectonic processes. We now know that, directly or indirectly, plate tectonics influences nearly all geologic processes, past and present. Indeed, the notion that the entire Earth's surface is continually shifting has profoundly changed the way we view our world.

For example, we can penetrate deep into the interior of our planet and effectively X-ray its internal structure. With this technology comes an increased awareness of how our planet is continually changing and a fresh awareness of how fragile it is. Designed for the introductory Physical Geology course found in Geology, Earth Science, Geography, or Physical Science departments, Dynamic Earth: An Introduction to Physical Geology clearly presents Earth's dynamic geologic systems with their many interdependent and interconnected components. It provides comprehensive coverage of the two major energy systems of Earth: the plate tectonic system and the hydrologic cycle. The text fulfills the needs of professors by offering current content and a striking illustration package, while exposing students to the global view of Earth and teaching them to view the world as geologists.

Book excerpt: This book examines the relevance of global strategic perspective, as international competition continues to intensify & gain momentum, and management of human resource remains a challenge in contemporary corporate scenario. As global business strategy requires globally competent people and implementation of global human resource systems, therefore the need to harness the multi-faceted dimensions of corporate employees is elaborated upon. This book explores cross cultural movement & interactions in International human resource management, where the theme of cross-cultural reentry remains largely neglected and underestimated in the sojourner’s transition trajectory. This book takes into account the available empirical investigations pointing to substantial concerns, affecting the psychological wellbeing, social readjustment and cultural identity of the returning individuals. This book examines the significance of re-entry as an issue of highest priority to both sojourning individuals as well as people managing the reentry transitions of travelers. In light of the unfolding knowledge revolution, the book explores the context of corporate India offering high knowledge density and rich demographic dividend. The need for companies, to harness the knowledge capital and accelerate Indians in the knowledge revolution is examined. Various factors that can influence the repatriation of an individual when back in the home country, and the challenges faced in repatriation at the individual-, team-, organizational-, and country-levels, is explored & analyzed. This book focuses on eliminating overall wastage and losses in Repatriation process, from an organizational point of view. The purview of this book encompasses the interface of Anticipatory Adjustment, Competency Transfer, Effective Repatriation and Reverse Culture Shock with Repatriates’ Adjustment, back home, and empirically analyzes the precursors and effects of the said paradigms in optimization of Repatriate talent from an organizational perspective. The purpose is to analyze the antecedents of repatriate adjustment in the mentioned context and to subsequently deliberate upon the acquired results to arrive at feasible and relevant conclusions. Optimization of Repatriate talent, and Repatriation Management from International Human Resource Management (IHRM) perspective, deserves a cross-disciplinary study of precursors effecting Repatriation Adjustment, with focus on the dimension of Indian Repatriate acculturation.

Despite this imperfect world in which we live, urban planning has become integral and critical especially in the face of rapid urbanization in many developing and developed countries. This book introduces the axiomatic/experimental approach to urban planning and addresses the criticism of the lack of a theoretical foundation in urban planning. With the rise of the complexity movement, the book is timely in its depiction of cities as complex systems and explains why planning from within is useful in the face of urban complexity. It also includes policy implications for the Chinese cities in the context of axiomatic/experimental planning theory.
