A combination of curiosity and imagination fuels his love for adventure that, sometimes, gets him in awkward situations. One of Cat's teachers tells him about the hidden truths behind the Big Bang Theory, and how "true science will never contradict the Word of God." The teacher's statement prompts Cat's pursuit for the truth, leading him and his friends down the Golden Pathway that will bring him to Eleeshaum, the God who created all. The journey has been filled with dangerous undertakings, but Cat and his friends manage to reach the end of their expedition, and find what they have been looking for. Bruce Minson of Jacksonville, Florida, has been married to his wife, Cheryl, for the past 34 years. They have five children and three grandchildren. Bruce and Cheryl have pastored two churches during that time and are still working in the ministry, helping at the Jacksonville Assembly of the Body of Christ. This is the reality for the Korean comfort girls-women whose lives had been erased since the time of the expansion of comfort stations by the Japanese military in 1937. This book is an effort to bring these women back to life and to make their voices, experiences and memories available to future generations. The experiences of Korean comfort girls-women are a paradigmatic example of how military sexual violence can obliterate the dignity of women and shame them into nonexistence. This book examines how the turning of their innocence into inadequacy, actively by the Japanese government and passively by the Korean government and its people, and also by the world, compounded their long, miserable suffering for half a century until Kim Hak-sun broke the silence in 1991 with the support of Korean activists. The relentless and courageous efforts of Korean comfort girls-women and activists on the road to healing and justice are shared here. These efforts made it possible for us to hear their horrific stories, which are embedded with numerous and intense traumas, allowing them to unfold and be shared on the road to justice and healing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Second place, Presidio La Bahia Award, Sons of the Republic of Texas, 2003 Perhaps no one has ever been such a survivor as álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca. Member of a 600-man expedition sent out from Spain to colonize "La Florida" in 1527, he survived a failed exploration of the west coast of Florida, an open-boat crossing of the Gulf of Mexico, shipwreck on the Texas coast, six years of captivity among native peoples, and an arduous, overland journey in which he and the three other remaining survivors of the original expedition walked some 1,500 miles from the central Texas coast to the Gulf of California, then another 1,300 miles to Mexico City. The story of Cabeza de Vaca has been told many times, beginning with his own account, Relación de los naufragios, which was included and amplified in Gonzalo Fernando de Oviedo y Váldez's Historia general de las Indias. Yet the route taken by Cabeza de Vaca and his companions remains the subject of enduring controversy. In this book, Alex D. Krieger correlates the accounts in these two primary sources with his own extensive knowledge of the geography, archaeology, and anthropology of southern Texas and northern Mexico to plot out stage by stage the most probable route of the 2,800-mile journey of Cabeza de Vaca. This book consists of several parts, foremost of which is the original English version of Alex Krieger's dissertation (edited by Margery Krieger), in which he traces the route of Cabeza de Vaca and his companions from the coast of Texas to Spanish settlements in western Mexico. This document is rich in information about the native groups, vegetation, geography, and material culture that the companions encountered. Thomas R. Hester's foreword and afterword set the 1955 dissertation in the context of more recent scholarship and archaeological discoveries, some of which have supported Krieger's plot of the journey. Margery Krieger's preface explains how she prepared her late husband's work for publication. Alex Krieger's original translations of the Cabeza de Vaca and Oviedo accounts round out the volume.

Book excerpt: At 5:41 P.M. on May 22, 2011, an EF5 tornado hit Joplin, Missouri. It was a huge twister that destroyed miles of properties down its path, leaving houses, businesses, crops, and everything it hit devastated, in rubble. Then as if it had been forever, the forty-five-second catastrophe left 161 deaths, injuries and disbelief, and stories of survival . . . stories of faith. Scott Hettinger¿s interviews with many survivors provides a real picture of what that afternoon was like, in multiple points of view. Some were in their homes doing chores, some attending graduation, some shopping, while others stayed with their families for barbecue and such. But there were dark clouds over Joplin, strong winds, purple lightning . . . and everything was okay. Then the tornado sirens went off. 5/22: Stories of Survival, Stories of Faith provides powerful examples of how powerful God's hands are in times of need.
