Book Synopsis Advanced Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer for Engineers and Scientists by : Meinhard T. Schobeiri

This book was released on 2022-01-17 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current book, Advanced Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer is based on author's four decades of industrial and academic research in the area of thermofluid sciences including fluid mechanics, aero-thermodynamics, heat transfer and their applications to engineering systems. Fluid mechanics and heat transfer are inextricably intertwined and both are two integral parts of one physical discipline. No problem from fluid mechanics that requires the calculation of the temperature can be solved using the system of Navier-Stokes and continuity equations only. Conversely, no heat transfer problem can be solved using the energy equation only without using the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations. The fact that there is no book treating this physical discipline as a unified subject in a single book that considers the need of the engineering and physics community, motivated the author to write this book. It is primarily aimed at students of engineering, physics and those practicing professionals who perform aero-thermo-heat transfer design tasks in the industry and would like to deepen their knowledge in this area. The contents of this new book covers the material required in Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Graduate Core Courses in the US universities. It also covers the major parts of the Ph.D-level elective courses Advanced Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer that the author has been teaching at Texas A&M University for the past three decades.

Book Synopsis A Compilation of Unsteady Turbulent Boundary Layer Experimental Data by : Lawrence W. Carr
Download or read book A Compilation of Unsteady Turbulent Boundary Layer Experimental Data written by Lawrence W. Carr and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive literature search was conducted and those experiments related to unsteady turbulent boundary-layer behavior were cataloged. In addition, an international survey of industrial, university, and government research laboratories was made, in which new and ongoing experimental programs associated with unsteady turbulent boundary-layer research were identified. Pertinent references were reviewed and classified based on the technical emphasis of the various experiments that include instantaneous or ensemble-averaged profiles of boundary-layer variables are stressed. Detailed reviews that include descriptions of the experimental apparatus, flow conditions, summaries of acquired data, and significant conclusions are made. The measurements made in these experiments that exist in digital form have been stored on magnetic tape, and instructions are presented for accessing these data sets for further analysis. (Author).

Book Synopsis Laminar Wakes by : Stanley A. Berger
Download or read book Laminar Wakes written by Stanley A. Berger and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive survey is given of the state of knowledge of steady, nonturbulent laminar fluid wakes behind both blunt and slender bodies in viscous fluids, with emphasis on high-speed wakes. The flows are generally assumed to occur at large but finite free-stream Reynolds numbers, generally with a thin boundary layer on the body. Compressible and viscous flow theory are involved. The focus is on basic theory and concepts; both experimental results and speculative theories are given only where they provide greater insight or information otherwise unavailable. Transition and turbulence problems are not discssed.

Book Synopsis Laminar Boundary Layer Interaction with an Unsteady Passing Wake by : Daniel E. Paxson
Download or read book Laminar Boundary Layer Interaction with an Unsteady Passing Wake written by Daniel E. Paxson and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation was conducted to study the unsteady effects of a moving wake as it passes over a laminar boundary layer in a stagnation region. Arguments are presented showing that in this region, the wake-induced unsteadiness may be treated, for the most part, as an inviscid, unsteady free stream, which impresses itself on the boundary layer flow. As a result, the boundary layer equations remain valid and, for relatively small oscillations, a solution to the equations may be obtained using standard perturbation techniques. A related experiment is then described and the results are examined in light of this analytical approach.
