In the hope of supplying such a want, the first edition of this little work was published; and the demand for that and the succeeding edi tions, leads the publisher to hope his aim has been accomplished, and his efforts to please his friends have been fully appreciated by them. In the present te-issue, the details are brought down to the present date, and a variety of new and inter esting matter has been added. The illustrations have also been increased in number by the addi tion of several beautiful engravings on steel, from drawings by Mr. H. B. Carter, a resident artist; and it is believed that in the edition now before the public, every assistance is given to the visitor, while a due regard has been paid to economy of price.
