This math calendar is designed so that the answer to the problem on each day is the date on which the problem appears. Hints and solutions are also provided for nonroutine or brain-unfriendly questions. Moreover, each month begins with some elements of enrichment or recreational math to challenge or enrich the child. Through math activities, puzzles, and games, The Singapore Mathematics Calendar seeks to complement and supplement what the child is doing in school or at home, by making math fun and educational. The Singapore Mathematics Calendar hopes to convey the message that mathematics needn’t be drill-and-kill exercises—it can be fun, yet challenging for students to be exposed to the beauty and joy of mathematics.
Download or read book CLO Investing written by Shiloh Bates and published by Gatekeeper Press. This book was released on 2023-09-11 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs) were left for dead after the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) of 2008-2009. Since then, CLOs have made a surprising comeback. Their popularity among investors is partially the result of impressive CLO performance during the GFC and beyond. CLO notes issued before the GFC did not have material defaults, and many CLO equity securities issued prior to the GFC ended up with annualized returns above 20%. Today the CLO market has over $1 trillion in assets under management and has replaced banks as the largest lender to private equity-backed companies. CLO Investing: With an Emphasis on CLO Equity & BB Notes describes CLOs in detail, emphasizing the securities with the highest risk and reward potential, CLO BB notes and equity. The readers of this textbook will learn the characteristics of the CLO’s leveraged loans, financing structure, payment rules and tests, and historical returns. As CLOs are gaining in popularity, investment professionals of all varieties will benefit from author Shiloh Bates’s meticulous understanding of this unique market and the strategies for successfully investing in it. Book Revie 1: “For anyone wanting to learn about CLO Equity & BB Note asset classes, look no further.” -- Larry Swedroe, Head of Financial and Economic Research, Buckingham Asset Management Book Review 2: “Often described as the largest niche market nobody has ever heard of, Shiloh skillfully demystifies CLOs. Unique CLO concepts, such as their self-healing mechanism, are described in detail. This is your authoritative guide to the $1 trillion CLO asset class and CLO Equity and BB Notes in particular.” -- Steve Nesbitt, Chief Executive Officer, Cliffwater Book Review 3: “The industry has long needed a clear, thorough explanation of CLOs and their importance to markets. There's no one better qualified than Shiloh Bates to write it. He masterfully unpacks the details on vehicle structures as well as their role in the leverage finance ecosystem. This book is a must-read for anyone in the world of finance.” -- Randy Schwimmer, Co-Head of Senior Lending, Churchill Asset Management
Book Synopsis Social Disciplining and Civilising Processes in China by : Thomas Heberer
Download or read book Social Disciplining and Civilising Processes in China written by Thomas Heberer and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-08-11 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book argues that a major part of the Chinese government’s road map, formulated in 2017, to modernise China comprehensively by 2049 is the process of social disciplining. It contends that the Chinese state sees that modernisation and modernity encompass not only economic and political–administrative change but are also related to the organisation of society in general and the disciplining of this society and its individuals to create people with “modernised” minds and behaviour; and that, moreover, the Chinese state is aspiring to a modernity with “Chinese characteristics”. The question of modernising by disciplining was extensively dealt with in the twentieth century by leading Western social scientists including Max Weber, Norbert Elias and Michel Foucault, who argued that disciplining, extending from external coercion towards the internalisation of restraints, is indispensable for achieving social order and thereby for “civilisation” –but defined from a European perspective, in relation to developments in Europe. This book therefore not only discusses the Chinese experience of social disciplining, but also, by looking at a non-Western society, identifies universal tendencies of societal change and social disciplining and separates them from particular occurrences.

Book Synopsis More Finish Lines to Cross by : Cary Clack
Download or read book More Finish Lines to Cross written by Cary Clack and published by Trinity University Press. This book was released on 2024-02-27 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cary Clack has captured the hearts and minds of Texans since the mid-1990s, gaining a national reputation as an incisive and sensitive journalist and developing a significant following as a columnist. Originally from San Antonio, he worked with the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta (writing CNN commentaries for Coretta Scott King) to hone his communication skills and broaden his social sensibilities. Returning to his hometown, he quickly became known as a writer who profiled everyday heroes and captured stories unique to the Texas experience, adding a critical local perspective to national news. His columns are infused with a sense of humility and a keen examination of the humanness in others. Following sixteen years as a journalist, Clack pursued interests in politics, social policy, and service, including work with the mayor of San Antonio, U.S. congressman Joaquin Castro, and others. More Finish Lines to Cross is a collection of Clack’s best short- and long-form columns since his return to the San Antonio Express-News in 2019. It includes more than eighty pieces about the issues of the day, from Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and the war in Ukraine to the impact of COVID, the death of George Floyd, and the mass shooting of schoolchildren in Uvalde, Texas. Along the way we meet the people who influenced Clack, which in turn reminds us to reflect on how we become the people we are and what inspires us to be better members of our communities.
