Book Synopsis The Voice Eternal by : Thomas Parker Boyd
Download or read book The Voice Eternal written by Thomas Parker Boyd and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 2014-01-14 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to furnish a statement of the Spiritual philosophy of life with special reference to physical health. If any apology were needed for a new book it could be found in the fact that every marked advance in human welfare has had its literature, so that those who could not enjoy the instruction and enthusiasm of its leaders might at least be intelligently informed as to the underlying principles and methods of the advance movement. The multiplying of books in the new healing philosophy of truth which has taken so strong a place in modern religious ideas today is justified in the fact that the same truth from a new view point, or in differing phraseology, as it is projected through different personalities, gives it an acceptance and helpfulness to many which it could not otherwise have. No claim is made for the originality of any ideas here expressed. The substance of these chapters have been given in the author's lectures, to his classes, and to his patients until their helpfulness has been clearly demonstrated, and many urgent requests have been made to have them put into more permanent and available form.

Piper offers a biblical defense of God's supremacy in all things, providing readers with a sound theological foundation for missions. This 30th anniversary edition of a contemporary classic, now in paperback, incorporates insights from the author's refined thinking over the past 10 years. Used extensively as a textbook for missions courses and a resource for ministries, Let the Nations Be Glad! provides a passionate plea for God-centeredness in the whole enterprise of world evangelization and explores the role of prayer and spiritual warfare. The book is essential reading for those involved in or preparing for missions work. It also offers enlightenment for students, pastors, youth workers, campus ministers, and all who want to connect their labors to God's global purposes.
Book Synopsis The Voice of Conscience by : Mika Ojakangas
Download or read book The Voice of Conscience written by Mika Ojakangas and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2013-07-18 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Western thought, it has been persistently assumed that in moral and political matters, people should rely on the inner voice of conscience rather than on external authorities, laws, and regulations. This volume investigates this concept, examining the development of the Western politics of conscience, from Socrates to the present, and the formation of the Western ethico-political subject. The work opens with a discussion of the ambiguous role of conscience in politics, contesting the claim that it is the best defense against totalitarianism. It then look back at canonical authors, from the Church Fathers and Luther to Rousseau and Derrida, to show how the experience of conscience constitutes the foundation of Western ethics and politics. This unique work not only synthesizes philosophical and political insights, but also pays attention to political theology to provide a compelling and innovative argument that the experience of conscience has always been at the core of the political Western tradition. An engaging and accessible text, it will appeal to political theorists and philosophers as well as theologians and those interested in the critique of the Western civilization.
