Book Synopsis The Afterlife Unveiled by : Stafford Betty
Download or read book The Afterlife Unveiled written by Stafford Betty and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2011-06-16 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens to us when we die? Many think of heaven as an unimaginable state of bliss. As for hell, it's far out of proportion to any sin we might have committed and makes a travesty of God. But what if the afterlife was something very different? The key to such knowledge is mediumship. Three decades of research have taught the author, a world expert in the field of death and afterlife studies, who the most reliable voices are. These accounts are far better developed and more plausible than anything found in the world's scriptures or theologies. We hunger for a reliable revelation telling us that life here and now is meaningful and good, that each of us has an important part to play in its proper unfolding, that we are accountable for all we do, and that the godless materialism all around us is a pathological mistake. The world ahead, unlike ours, is fascinating and fair. Authentic mediums may be the closest thing to the voice of God that our planet has.

Download or read book American Democratic Socialism written by Gary Dorrien and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 745 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sweeping, ambitious history of American democratic socialism from one of the world’s leading intellectual historians and social ethicists “The movement whose tangled history Gary Dorrien tells in American Democratic Socialism has deep roots in the very ‘American’ values it is accused of undermining. . . . The version of the socialist left that emerges is one that deserves more attention.”—Hari Kunzru, New York Review of Books Democratic socialism is ascending in the United States as a consequence of a widespread recognition that global capitalism works only for a minority and is harming the planet’s ecology. This history of American democratic socialism from its beginning to the present day interprets the efforts of American socialists to address and transform multiple intersecting sites of injustice and harm. Comprehensive, deeply researched, and highly original, this book offers a luminous synthesis of secular and religious socialisms, detailing both their intellectual and their organizational histories.

Book Synopsis Essence of Inquiry: Vicharasangraham, A Commentary by Nome by : Sri Ramana Maharshi
Download or read book Essence of Inquiry: Vicharasangraham, A Commentary by Nome written by Sri Ramana Maharshi and published by Society of Abidance in Truth. This book was released on 2019-01-19 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Essence of Inquiry” contains Sri Ramana Maharshi’s earliest recorded teaching, Self-Inquiry, and a commentary on this scared scripture for the spiritual benefit of the seekers. The text, Self-Inquiry, chronicles the profound dialogues from 1900 to 1902 between Sri Ramana Maharshi and an ardent seeker of truth, Gambhiram Seshiar. This text is a sacred scripture, for a scripture represents a direct revelation of the Truth free of mental conceptions. Bhagavan’s teaching, when placed in printed words, is certainly scripture, for its significance is Truth transcending the words or thoughts utilized for its expression. The commentary helps in understanding the true import of Sri Ramana’s words and is singularly focused on Self-Knowledge and Self-Inquiry. From the Introduction: “One who approaches this sacred scripture with deep devotion and a sincere desire to realize the Self, and who, blessed by His Grace, practices in accordance with the wisdom herein elucidated, will doubtlessly realize the sole-existent Self, the nondual Brahman, and abide as That, of the nature of undifferentiated Being-Consciousness-Bliss.” From the foreword by late Sri A.R. Natarajan, President of Ramana Maharshi Center for Learning:“To write a commentary on the sacred words of Ramana, one has to be constantly perceptive of this ever-flowing grace. It is evident that Master Nome has this perception. The humility with which he has approached this holy work is found in his beginning each commentary with the all powerful twelve word mantra on Ramana “Om Namo Bhagavate Sri Ramanaya”. He closes each commentary with “Ramanarpanamastu – may this be an offering to Ramana”. And what worthy offering it is. With his own experience of the natural state, Nome is able to explain the true import of Ramana’s word with utmost clarity and depth. .. Nome writes not from book knowledge but from experience. This is so from question one to question forty. There is no false note, no wavering of understanding.”
Download or read book Ever Yours in Truth written by Nome and published by Society of Abidance in Truth. This book was released on 2015-02-21 with total page 519 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Covering a time span of 40 years, Ever Yours in Truth is a spiritual treasure in the form of personal correspondence between Nome and other sages and seekers sharing their experience. With few exceptions, almost all of the correspondence presented was written in response to letters written to Nome. Included with the early correspondence are a few verses composed at the time, but for whom they were written and in what context cannot now be ascertained. The correspondence has been generally presented as written by the various writers to better retain the feeling of the original with only some minor editing to delete comments pertaining to some practical matters and to render some of the messages received more intelligible. Some of the correspondence is a sharing of and reveling in Brahman-Knowledge, while some is correspondence with Nome in which seekers pose various questions regarding their practice of Self-Inquiry and how to apply this practice to their lives.
Book Synopsis The Losing Parties by : Philip A. Klinkner
Download or read book The Losing Parties written by Philip A. Klinkner and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 1994-11-30 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do Democratic and Republican party leaders react after their party has lost a presidential election? Is there a pattern of response to defeat that reflects the distinctive cultures of the two parties? This book answers these questions by examining how the two national party organizations have responded to presidential election defeats between 1956 and 1993. Drawing on party documents, interviews with party officials, and contemporary accounts, Philip Klinkner provides detailed case studies of opposition party politics. He shows that Republican national committees have reacted to losses by making organizational changes to improve campaign technology and fundraising and that losing Democrats have sought to refine or make more democratic their internal procedures for selecting delegates to the national convention or for choosing presidential candidates. Klinkner suggests that the reasons for these reactions stem from the historical development of the parties. The organizational response of the Republican party is the result of its long-term relationship with business, its homogeneity and hierarchical structure, and its minority party experience. The Democrats' emphasis on participation and representation for its constituent elements is based on its characteristic composition of social and economic out-groups, its heterogeneity and decentralization, and its tradition as the majority party.
Book Synopsis In the End, the Beginning by : Juergen Moltmann
Download or read book In the End, the Beginning written by Juergen Moltmann and published by SCM Press. This book was released on 2013-01-26 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'In my end is my beginning', wrote T. S. Eliot at the close of his poem East Coker, and that line gave me the title for this book. With it I should like to express the power of the Christian hope, for Christian hope is the power of resurrection from life's failures and defeats. It is the power of the rebirth of life out of the shadows of death. It is the power for the new beginning at the place where guilt has made life impossible. From the Introduction by Jurgen Moltmann In this short doctrine of hope, Jurgen Moltmann examines the personal experiences in life, in which the future is awaited, times when we search for new beginnings and find them. In three parts that correspond to the three beginnings in life: birth, rebirth and resurrection, Moltmann extols the true value of Christian hope that powers new beginnings. Jurgen Moltmann is Emeritus Professor of Systematic Theology at the University of Tubingen, Germany. He is the author of a number of books published by SCM Press, including Theology of Hope, The Crucified God and The Church in the Power of the Spirit.
Book Synopsis Savitri – The Golden Bridge, the Wonderful Fire by : Mangesh V. Nadkarni
Download or read book Savitri – The Golden Bridge, the Wonderful Fire written by Mangesh V. Nadkarni and published by Auro e-Books. This book was released on with total page 639 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Almost all of the essays collected in this volume were written for and first published as monthly instalments in Next Future, the e-journal of the Sri Aurobindo Society Pondicherry. The 47 instalments ended with the passing of Dr. Nadkarni in September 2007, and cover Savitri Book by Book, Canto by Canto, from the beginning up to the climactic point in the middle of Book Eleven, where Savitri is offered four boons of merger with the Supreme, and asks instead for the Supreme Peace, Oneness, Energy and Bliss ‘for Earth and Men’. Dr. Nadkarni has written other essays on Savitri as well as giving many other talks, but this collection represents a masterly ‘Introduction’ (as he modestly called it) to the revelatory poem which he loved so much and understood so well. It has been compiled and published at the request of his family, and we feel sure that it will be welcomed by Savitri readers and students all over the world, and to a certain extent make up for the great loss that his many admirers experienced when he passed away in September 2007 at the age of 74.
